US Grand tour of the ME turns it's attention towards Syria.

US reports Syria killing its civilians.

Syrian rebels hailed as heroes and supplied with US and UK arms, money and gear.

US want to invade Syria...to 'free the people'..

Russia and China forbid US lead Syrian invasion.

Syria accused of chemical weapons crimes against civilians.

Accusation fails.

Syria accused of chemical weapons crimes against civilians again.

Accusation fails again.

Syria accused of chemical weapons crimes against civilians yet again, 3rd time's a charm.

Accusation fails for third and last time.

Sensing a 4th attempt, Syria voluntarily destroys it's stocks of chemical based weapons.

ISIS created and supplied arms and equipment.

ISIS moves into Syria.

US and UK tell the plebs we're fighting ISIS.

US and UK go into and bomb the hell out of Syria (original intention) and claim we're actually bombing ISIS.

It's all an excuse to get their hands on Syria.

I agree, it would have been a perfect time to send a message. Why wouldn't we be targeting EVERY tank an d artillery piece we see? You can't tell me with command of the skies, we can't see them move heavy weaponry. Where's their logistics bases/train ? They seem to be basically the size of at least a Division or two to mount attacks. Should be easy pickings to destroy all the big hardware, specifically when it's deployed in an attack.

The end goal might be to split Syria in two.

ISIS may be involved in the plan.

A "West Syria" with a Sunni/Saudi government would allow this:

These problems have been brewing for years in the middle east, one group comes into power, gets knocked off and another takes it place. It stinks and ultimately there is no real solution for it. If the US goes in and gets rid of ISIS how long till the next group decides it has what it takes to try the same thing again?

In short it was a mistake for the US to go in and remove Sadam from power, that much we all can agree on, but now there is the aftermath and that is going to be harder still. The people in the area are a beat and down trodden people, with no real power base. They gain little and lose way too much. The scars of dictators and bad government long past still remain, and that is the problem.

They do not trust their government, do not trust their neighbor. The US is not the nation to depend on, as the Federal government has done nothing for those people, have not cleaned up the resulting mess, and thus they are loathed to ask for them to come back in. ISIS, has been fighting an all out war, willing to die for their cause, making them far more dangerous than any of the countries over there. They have a goal and are going to see it through no matter what the cost.

This problem with ISIS began with the fall of Sadam, and the civil war in Syria. The US made a bad choice in arming the Syrian rebels, and it has gone no where. And against the warning and advice of the Chinese and the Russians, the US proceeded in without much thought to the aftermath. Now it is going to require another fighting force to go in and clean up the mess.

Obama is trying to keep boots out of this mess, by not having people on the ground, and unfortunately that is not going to do much good, as this is a conflict where those doing these acts can simply hide in with the non combatants. And as sad as it is, the US needs to work with Russia, China, Iran and others in that region to stop this from happening and to help clean up the mess. That also will mean that it needs to stop supplying arms and ammo to various groups, only for such to be lost and used against people.

I'm starting to think you might be right about that. Airstrikes? Where and when? ISIS just had a very long parade out in the open as they overtook Ramadi and yet there was no airstrike. You'd think it would have been a perfect opportunity to hit them hard, what with them all lined up with their black flags and military equipment on an open road in the desert. But no ... they just walked in with no resistance.

Any bombing we are doing (IF we are doing it) is half ass'd.

Either hit them right or get the heck out and let the Saudis deal with it.

Maybe the Iraqi Government that the USA is working with did not want there city bombed to bits and plan on taking it back in one peace?

USA cant unilaterally just bomb random # in allied country’s. It could very well just be Iraq being stubborn and stupid.

There's still tons of US equipment taken by ISIS being used right now.
Those may be Russian trucks but I doubt they make much difference in the overall scheme of things.
What I want to know is how can ISIS fighters just jump on this equipment like M1 Abrams tanks, artillery, etc and be able to use them? Who trained them? Some of this gear is pretty complicated especially when everything is in a foreign language to them.

All vehicles share the same basics, so why couldn't they drive a tank that they captured from the Iraqi army?

In fact, why couldn't they capture the instructions for the tank from the Iraqi Army? Or what if they had plants in the Iraqi army learning this stuff and passing it on.

As for the Russian trucks, it makes a world of difference if people simply go shooting their opinions off without actually checking facts first. There were 4 pages of generally incorrect assumptions about a whole load of things before I pointed that out.

I really think one of the assigned goals of isis is to wipe out any historical sites that may lead to re-writing the accepted version of history. Any thing that would show that the legends of the bible have roots in other histories and religions. There's a reason I refer to Islam Christianity and Judaism as the Abrahamic reich. All three work in collusion to hide humanities history and destroy anything that would remove their "god given" right to rule. They force a false history onto man and work towards the goal of squashing humanity under the boot of their man made god.

These groups are funded by the world elite who use the Abrahamic religions as basis for ruling the population. IF people stop believing in those mythologies the world powers will lose their base of power. Not something they can deal with. Destroying indigenous populations and any peoples or sites that can contradict that status quo has seemed to be a main goal of the 20th/21st centuries.
