The Iraqi military uses the French style of engagement. That's why the equipment looks so new it's hardly ever been used and only dropped once.

Just got up off the floor. LMAO! It reminded me of why the French installed street lighting along the main road into Paris.
They didn't want the German troops to get lost!

Sort of like this?

US pickup in the hands of Syrian rebels… how'd that happen?

Brilliant war strategy, arm the rebels with US equipment, bomb the US equipment with US bombs.

cha-ching…

Don't you just love when you can play both sides from the middle--
have it all paid for with counterfeit money and somebody else's
red cell count, and have nobody notice besides? Well, 3 outa 4...
I'm glad the bloodline got watered down with too much
decency by the time it got here.. I don't think I'd be up to the job.

They will get hit.

One thing that concerns me on whether they are getting serious or not. Is that I cannot account for any Spector raids in country or on deployment for that matter.

Maybe zap can stop in and let us know?

Curious about your statement. What are the dates on those arm shipments they aren't in anyway associated with the war between Iraq and Iran are they?

Because we were definitely arming them at that time. If you've got any of the links handy I would like to look into them. Or give me the name of the arms deal I'll look it up myself.

The arms deals to Saddam to invade Kuwait started in late winter/spring of 1988 (july/september) after the Iran/Iraq war ended. They were inked at Oliphants Game Farm in Kruger National Park and our pilot (MI) flew the US Ambassador to the meeting as well as our people. There were two SA Ministers involved, US Ambassador, Chief of CI (my CO), a joint French/Israeli Defense Contractor and a South African Defense Contractor (I was Chief of R&D/Engineering). The US portion of the deal was just shy of a billion US and the waybills on our fixers desk were between 1000 and 1500 pages. I just flipped through the first couple of hundred pages, I had limited time but saw enough to know I had better quit. I have no problems with terr's and endings, but I do have a problem with giving nutbars weapons.

What was interesting is our people added the G5 cannons to the order at additional cost and they were the key element in the short lived portion of the ground war by the Iraqis. I remember CNN in 1990/91 and hearing that the G5's were keeping the US ground troops back 40-45km's and thinking damn, that's why they added them. The US had to make the whole thing at least "look real" even at the cost of American lives. I had heard it would be an air war and a good stomping when I was still overseas in early 1990 so when I got back and saw the ground offensive, I got pretty disgusted at that point. And yes, I know all the people involved either directly/personally, as acquaintances or from being in our plane.

Since the majority of the weapons came from the US, it gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "friendly fire."

Cheers - Dave

I have read much of what happened in Vietnam written by those who were there and the North in fact was able to arm itself far better after we started sending equipment to the Diem governments and were able to replace their M-1 carbines and Garands with AR's, M14's, and M79 grenade launchers. But I have never heard of a single instance where the VC or NVA ever stole M48 Tanks and turned the guns on the American GI's. Small arms is one thing, armored vehicles is a completely different animal. I rode in Deuce and a halfs and willies jeeps myself and when I had an opportunity to pilot an Israeli Humvee, I could only stand in the gun turret because the controls were far beyond my ability to comprehend. Yes they were in Hebrew and that did not help. I will never believe that a bunch of goat herders can be capable of jumping into a US armored vehicle and do anything more than just sit there looking stupid unless SOMEONE trained them what to do.

Yet the Vietcong were armed with weapons as old as M3 grease gun.

By the way the North Vietnamese used many captured French weapons. Are you claiming the French were behind the North Vietnamese movement top?

I didn't just "come across" it, I worked for one of the companies that was involved and I was highly sc'd, my CO was the Chief of Counterintelligence for my offensive weapons projects. It's a long time ago now though, nobody is really interested any more. I just find the situation we had back then very similar to the situations we have now. When dirty tricks work, they do keep using them, not just in creating reasons for war....

Hell it gets better than that if you watch the Vice documentaries on Youtube about how the U.S. is sneaking the so called Moderate free Syrian army fighters out of Syria into Jordan or Turkey, flying them to the UEA and then training them for months. Then they fly them back to supposedly fight for the Free Syrian Army. I think the whole deal is a bunch of pardon my french but a whole lot of horse shat. They are not training anyone but ISIS as they have all new equipment and know how to fight. I have seen what looks like Blackwater types with ISIS trying to hide their faces. The U.S. presidents have all had their own private army of former spec ops guys to do whatever they wanted as no main group of U.S. military would go for this crap and would put two and two together real quick. It doesn't take many to train them, just a whole lot of Patients as our own forces experienced with the buffoons in Iraq that wanted to be new Iraqi army.

ISIS is brought to us by no other than Obama, Saudi Arabia, UEA and Bahrain to take over Iraq and drive the Shia out of power and keep Iran in check. Obama is pissing off Saudi Arabia now that he is playing both sides. It is obvious to them he is trying to get them to strike Iran with this nuclear deal before Iran gets the bomb, even though Iran more than likely already has the bomb thanks to the North Koreans that they have been working with on their missile program and that Pakistani scientist AQ Kahn that sold them the blueprints for the centrifuges they currently use and the bomb itself. NK, Libya, Egypt, Iran all bought the same full Package from him and that includes the smaller warhead design that NK just unveiled to the world.

The world is so unstable at the moment WW3 could kick off in a big way with one little incident in the Persian Gulf, Europe or the Korean theater. Israel and the U.S. know Iran already has the bomb, that is the only reason why they have not been bombed yet. Israel is just trying to keep the pressure on them so they can hopefully get the U.S. to do it, who can easily take them out where it would be almost impossible for Israel to destroy their deep bunkers without using nuclear bombs, something Israel will not do unless they know of a plan to launch one or many at them.

The more you research into it, I mean ISIS the web of intrigue gets bigger and span wider that we can ever imagine, if you dig good enough you will find anything, one thing the government and those behind the crap going on around the world and middle east, hate the most is how easily people can find anything this days in the net.

That is why they make it harder for people to be able to thin out the real facts from fiction, so the net is bombarded with conflicting information coming from every where.

I is the 9th letter of the alphabet,S is the 19th,ISIS HAS 2 I's so 9 + 9 =18 and 1 +8 =9,and 2 S's so
19 +19=38 3+8=11 so from ISIS in code we get 9-11.

They're using the underground railway systems that connect all Iraqi WalMarts.

Not to be the seemingly unAmerican person in the conversation...

But has bombing the Hell out of the Middle East over the past seventeen years, nearly non-stop, actually accomplished anything other than creating much larger problems than we had to begin with?

I firmly believe we should pull totally out and let the entire area fight it out, as they've been doing since recorded history, and then deal with whoever wins accordingly.

Fear of Islam is simply the latest pandering brainwashing we're being fed to justify endless war that feeds the Corporate piggy banks of a lot of major companies. I personally don't give a damn if GE or Halliburton pays a dividend to their shareholders at this point. It's old, tired and time for a change.

I will confirm that "rumor" from first hand account. Loads of equipment was left behind, some buried some given away to local governments. I saw tens of thousands of MRE's as well as Humvee's being buried. ISIS has gained much of the recent equipment from our most recent forays into Iraq, that equipment we also left behind as the military says it is more expensive to airlift or ship it back than to simply replace it.

The Taliban gained equipment from the US while fighting the Russians when they were know as the Mujaheddin and then used everything the Russians left behind plus the US supplied weapons against us in our more recent activities there. More equipment in that region enough to fight several more wars which I am sure there will be more to follow.

I have been to modern progressive countries Malaysia and Jordan both are cosmopolitan first world and Muslim,
I am not afraid of Islam when there is a separation of church and state, that been said there has not been a positive
theocracy in the history of mankind, not even a Buddhist one. They all degenerate into murder and mayhem.

ISIS is a meme like Nazism or Pol Pot socialism,I do not like the perpetual war machine but if it doesn't do something about this lot its ideology will spread and spread.Im afraid it has to be dealt with possibly with an arab coalition but they will need help.

Please...the MRAP is just a truck with big tires and lots of heavy armor. Put it in drive, let the break off and go...pretty simple. Driving a HUMVEE is just like driving a Jeep or HUMVEE from off the lot so kinda worried you were unable to drive one even if the controls were in Hebrew. American soldier, one of who I am, are not exactly the brightest bulbs on the string and things are pretty simple so they are able to operate them without lots of training. Even with some specialized training, mostly about air breaks and the need to slow down, they still rolled them over on a regular bases. This equipment that is in the picture is nothing special just a steering wheel, a break and gas pedal.
