Another thing, I have friends with young and adolescent children (and I will never have any of my own) and these children love me. A couple of the younger ones actually verbally express that by saying directly "I love you so and so" or that they've missed me as they run up and hug my leg. That makes me want to melt seeing the honest and unconditional love these children show as they have not been corrupted by hateful definitions and labelings of people. They only see me as a regular figure in their life who for what ever reasons enjoy my company. I have friends with a new born ( just started walking) I make no claim to be as good as her mother is at getting her to stop crying but I can get her to stop sometimes if only briefly just by talking to her and let me tell you seeing that little smile is worth sticking around despite all the hate and sadness in the world. Thats the new generation that will be looking after us one day and I for one hope that as a majority they are taught better than some of us were.

Ok I can't hold it in anymore the Illuminati is making me say all these things. They said they won't stop sending me emails to buy their book if I don't. What choice do I have? They won't leave me alone, NOOOOOOO... ok end sarcasm lol

Right, I'm on the Illuminati AGENDA train also.. I love that the original thread maker mentioned that she was not as has never been a part of any obscure, occult, conspiratorial agenda.. I don't know how many times I have read that line in so much alternative press.. for a moment there I thought there might be some truth to it, but fortunately there is not.

If anything, the objective is to create antagonism and confusion between communities, to have them attack each other, and to be at odds with one another...Why, it's the divide and conquer strategy operating through U.S. government and it actually works quite well..

Look at how fundamentalists currently harass and reject and downright abuse everything about the Gay community..The powers that be feed off of that, because they wish to see that antagonism exist since it fits in with their objectives ultimately..

Instead of focusing on gay community visibility, fundamentalists and others should be working on numerous other far more important issues such as child homelessness, child pornography etc ad infinitum.. They don't do a thing to help the most needy in this world..

I have a question. (Actually I have lots of questions but hesitant to ask for fear of offending or seeming nosy-- because I am a private person myself, plus it makes me uncomfortable to make anyone else needlessly uncomfortable.)

But anyway, I was wondering...

I'm assuming that if you were filling out a form (doctor's office, application of some sort, etc) that you would of course check "female." My question is, depending on when you transitioned, do you run into any difficulties with prior documentation about yourself that was on record prior to your transition? I mean, birth certificate is the obvious one, but then there are school records, college, any sorts of legal forms, etc. Does/has this caused you any issues?

In what way has the focus of ATS changed? I would imagine that the focus had been primarily on 9/11 conspiracy theories and issues, and then moving into wars against, Afghanistan Iraq, Palestine, the whole Bin Laden thing, Saudi Arabia, Oil Prices, later the problems revolved quite a bit around the housing bubble, Bear Stearns, Wall Street manipulation.. etc..
Then there was a lot of talk about natural disasters, Katrina the 2004? Tsunami, Earthquakes Haiti, later we would be talking quite a bit about Fukushima Radiation, JApan more earthquakes, the dead contaminated sea life.. BP oil spill,

I have heard that comment made before though, the idea that ATS used to be such and such a way, can you describe what you mean by that?
How was it different from how it is currently..

No I keep things simple by checking male. Besides from a legal standpoint I really kind of have to. Its difficult to legally change that without the "operation" in most states. Also I go to a doctor that specializes in TG matters. I sincerely appreciate your genuine attempt to learn here. That's what life is ultimately about right? a reply to: new_here

People make that argument in every community that has been established for long enough that newer generations have entered into the mix. It's always based on rose colored nostalgia glasses that don't hold up to actual historic evidence. I'd wager that ATS was never like lindalinda remembers it.

Interesting point, in what year was ATS established? I remember when Indymedia was around, but they were ultimately shut down both nationally and internationally after the "War on Terror," got strongly underway..

RationalWiki says the domain was registered in 97, but the site didn't start until around 1999.

PS: If you decide to follow that link, be warned, it isn't very flattering about this website/forum.

Yes, thank you for your answer. I do wonder what happens when a person does legally change... is all of the past information a constant headache of proving it is the same person?

I was just a moment ago trying to research that information, wikipedia didn't have anything on ATS..So 1999, that's merely 15 years ago, it also means that in 2001 when 9/11 happened there must have been some very interesting discussion here.. albeit "highly surveillanced" obviously.. So right, since that year, I wonder how discussion and posting may have very much changed, Chances are the themes and issues have remained pretty much the same, the only thing that may have shifted are the members or member interest..I remember I was very hesitant to sign on after 2001..

You didn't see this thread a month or two ago?
Wikipedia erases "Above Top Secret" entry, for "lack of notability"

Rationalwiki makes this proclamation on how posting habits have changed over the years:

On political subjects, ATS' userbase typically swings towards the radical end of whichever side is currently out of power. During the George W. Bush administration, a lot of far-left users inhabited the forums, and 9/11 Truthers, people calling Bush a fascist, and various conspiracy theories about the Iraq War, the Patriot Act, and the 2000 election were never more than a couple of clicks away. When Barack Obama was elected, though, most of the moonbats left (or became less active) and were soon replaced by equally rabid wingnuts, with the site crawling with birthers, religious whackjobs, claims that Obama is a fascist and/or a communist, and claims that the latest mass-murder spree was a false flag operation so that They could take away your guns. The horseshoe theory, though, guarantees that a lot of the content, especially the less politically-charged stuff (like the aforementioned aliens), tends to show up whether it's leftists or rightists posting.

I tend to agree with this synopsis.

I'd also like to interject that the site may have seen a bigger flow of skeptics joining it as it became more and more popular. So believers may feel like they don't have places to discuss their fringe beliefs anymore for fear that a skeptic will enter the thread and tell them that they are wrong. Though I think that just shows they aren't as open minded as they think they are and isn't really a problem.

Oh thanks for the link.. no I actually had not seen that thread.. for such a long dreadful time now, most of my focus has unfortunately been on doomsday topics such as " m-a-r-t-i-a-l nxnxnx l-a-w " in the u.s. -- Either that wondrous topic or this wonderful topic here: "The final global financial collapse.." towards which we are purportedly heading...

Fortunately I get out a bit.. and I do hang out on other more interesting more inspirational threads though..

Thanks for the link, I'll take a look at that thread concerning ATS and Wikipedia
