I guess I'm ok with them teaching sexuality in school but this whole gender fluidity thing is very confusing to me.

From my perspective you either have a penis or vagina thus are either man or woman. Of course it is up to you what you do with those parts and how you dress, but physically you are one or the other. I always thought gender was always about what you are physically and sexuality was about what you are psychologically.

Science evolves --- as it should.

It is now known there is far more to all areas of sexuality/gender ----- involving the whole body development ---- including brain, chemicals, and physical.

Why casue people want to be free to act how they feel and not be persecuted for it?
How does that make society sick?

It's funny how all the small gov people want to gov to regulate who you can marry and what you feel is your gender identity. Small gov at it's best right there.

Aside from more of your usual delusional blabbering, I stand by just what I said. It's 100% the truth, we live in a very, very sick Society.

You try oh so very hard to fabricate other peoples beliefs, yet you epically fail time and time again. ~$heopleNation

Some of that degradation can be applied to the massive misinformation that is being spread around by dubious so called news sources that poison the minds of the public.

Absolutely there is massive misinformation being spread daily by various sources. It's all part of the plan in order to keep the herds divided, and it certainly seems to be very effective. I appreciate the intelligent response by the way. ~$heopleNation

I guess that is fabrication...

Ya god forbid people read the more neutral stance on the article.

My favorite part of all this still is the man ask for science and facts to back up the schools position, while falling on the bible for his.

How do people react when you ask for science and facts to back up the bible...

Here's a fun clip of Mr. Sprigg of the FRC and the source of this current topic.

I'm not sure what he's saying by Deporting Homosexuals out of America. Perhaps he thinks there is a place called HomoLand or something where Gay people come???

In either case I'm not sure this is the kind of rational mind that should be considered credible in view of his obvious bias toward certain subjects.

What was the policy?

According to this memo. Schools had to revise their non-discrimination policy or lose federal funding. Most schools already had a non-discrimination policy, but it's not enough to have sexual orientation in it apparently; now it has to have gender identity too?

The “Gender Identity” or transgender policy is explained in a May 6, 2015 memo issued by Steven A. Lockard, the deputy superintendent of the Fairfax County Public Schools.

It states: “The Office of Civil Rights (OCR) of the U.S. Department of Education is requiring that school divisions 1) revise their non-discrimination policies to include gender identity, and 2) hire a consultant to advise on revisions to regulations and, more generally how school divisions should handle individual cases of transgender students. If the School Board amends Policy 1450, we will be able to tell them that have already done the two things that OCR is requiring.”

“If FCPS refuses to amend its policy, OCR has the right to recommend the termination of federal funding to FCPS,” reads the memo from Superintendent Lockard. It then notes that the City of Alexandria Public Schools and the Arcadia School District in California were investigated by the OCR and had to enter into resolution agreements with the OCR over the transgender policy.

Given those cases, Lockard states: “We see no reason to conclude that OCR would treat FCPS any differently than it has Arcadia or Alexandria in its requirement to amend the discrimination policy to include ‘gender identity.’”

The link contains a screen grab of the memo in question.

Also, lest I be accused of providing a "biased" source in CNS, here's an accompanying story from CBS Washington that clarifies two things:

1.) That the policy had sexual orientation added to it in November, so that wasn't the issue.

2.) That the district will be hiring a consultant, one of the stipulations the Dept. of Ed. laid down for the gender orientation bit.

The school district will hire a consultant to help plan policies, including bathroom use and locker rooms.

Actually, our present condition validates it.

Oh I went after you, was it not you who replied to me? LMAO! Typical liberal victimism. Yes I made that word up.

No you assumed that I ever mentioned "it", that is what you're not comprehending. This is not your classroom where you get to make up the questions.

Ya, I sure did fail.

I know that you did, it's a frequent occurrence here with you. You do not possess the ability to have a discussion without your typical finger pointing, while foaming out the mouth. ~$heopleNation

Again, your opinion. Just cause you think it doesn't make it the truth.

And you do realize I am not the topic right?
That is what I meant, you keep wanting to point the finger at me and call me this and that.
But ya, I am foaming at the mouth

Feel free to show me how we live in a sick society, and remember, go after the ball not the player.

And not that it means to much, but my posting stats seem to fly in the face of your opinion of me on here.

What's wrong with not being 100% of either gender? Seriously - what's wrong with it? So you have a big burly guy who likes to watch romantic comedies. Maybe he has a little bit girlyness in him - say 5%. Are you threatened by that?

Why would you think only girls like romantic comedies? That's stereotyping girls.

The issue they could address, and make everybody happy, is to not stereotype what it means to be a boy or a girl.
A boy can like romantic comedies. A girl can like to work on cars. Nothing to be ashamed of; nothing to make fun of.
Problem solved.

I can actually see this 'curriculum' back-firing. Say a boy likes to wear his hair a certain way, that other kids start pointing and saying he's 10% girl... but he finds that offensive; he is a boy. Same with a girl. What if they hear it enough they start doubting who they really are? There are some major identity issues if who you are, is forever up in the air and subjective.

Better to teach about not stereotyping what boys and girls can do and like. Works on all levels.

Nobody cares about your stats, and when someone attempts, but miserably fails, to put words into my mouth, you can bet I will expose their failure at doing so.

I stand by my words, we live in a very, very sick society. Way too many examples to list here though, I would be answering your questions all day long, when I really need to go and get a haircut.

Speaking of the subject of the thread, it's not about what I believe makes society sick, but if you want to continue this game of musical chairs, rest assured that I will be back later on tonight though. ~$heopleNation

Yes, but according to our new social engineers, maybe he really is part girl and she really is part boy. I think that's stupid.

I prefer the way you describe where we teach our kids to simply like what they happen to like.

Our son will tell you all day he's a boy, but he likes to cook. That's probably because his daddy likes to cook. No one would accuse either of them of being part girl. If anyone in this house is part anything, it's me, but I have no confusion there. I'm a girl ... who likes a lot of traditionally guy things.

Give me a break. Being in touch with your feminine or masculine side doesn't you are "gender fluid". All these man made identifications are just that, man made. It's part of the growing "special snowflake" culture. Everyone wants to be different, be it sexually or physically.

So if you give birth to a child in a hospital, do they mark whether it's a boy or a girl based on its penis or vagina, or do they mark TBA?
It seems really odd that if you have a penis you're not male. Or if you have a vagina you're not female. Last I checked these are pretty obvious indicators of it. Also if you have both you are a hermaphrodite. Hermaphroditism seems like the only proper time to say, "he or she is not 100 percent this or that."
I think people are rewriting biological facts with complete nonsense.

The brain can be female and the physical body male.

I'm actually pretty shocked at the responses here. I don't see this as a way of pushing an agenda, or brainwashing our kids into whatever you think it is they are trying to do to them. What really is wrong about teaching sexuality to kids?

Bring on the generation with less ignorant, insulting viewpoints. This is a good thing.

I concur the source should have been dug into much further. I can see that now. Too late now....

I do not have any problem with people being who they want or are. I have many friends that are in the in between area somewhere. However, what I disagree with is government overreach that feels they have to force these ideas on children who are confused anyway. It is just one sides agenda being pushed. That is pretty closed minded.

For example: The whole thing about there are no winners or losers, everyone gets a trophy crap that was pushed and I think still is on our children. They grow up believing THAT! I think it is one of the reasons kids are so entitled oriented. Also, they feel they have been lied to when they get in the real world and find out there are lots of winners and losers. They find that in every level of society. Then you have violent youth because they are not prepared for it.

In reference to LGBTQ or whatever acronym it is now, I have this opinion. I would not have any problem at all teaching where hate comes from and why they should not attack those who are different than them. That would be totally acceptable imho. I wonder how you would feel if they started teaching men having sex with boys was perfectly normal and the way these men act because of their sexuality? And I am not talking about the rape of a child. Teaching them this is normal would make consensual sex ok. I don't think so.

It is a problem with government oversight and misguided attempts of pushing one groups ideas on the children. People that don't agree with it don't want their children exposed to it. If this were another issue, say we are going to teach firearm ownership and shooting to these kids, you would have the gunners/anti-gunners in a thread arguing back and forth. Ideas and ideology are at work here to bring down America. Get people to corrupt their morals and divide them. Seems to be serious division in this thread. Why do LGBTQ feel it is ok to push their agenda on the people but not the non-LGBTQ? It would be the same question with any other agenda that you may not disagree with. I think children need to be taught the standard curriculum that gives them the ability to think. And as I said before, teaching anti-discrimination, anti-hate would and I would have no objection but that is not what is being taught (assuming the article has a correct original source).

As for the socialist issue, America is not a socialist society. Sure we have some socialist programs, but socialism is not what made the country of the US. And for Progressive liberal deniers, it sure is strange that so many of your ideas are in lock step with the Communist/socialist ideals. If you have been convinced otherwise for some reason I would like to hear that in another thread on Socialism vs Capitalism (hint hint), or whatever you want to call yourselves. I am not saying all Democrats are socialist, but the platform is pushing many socialist ideals and goals imho.

Everyone seems to agree for the most part that America is in decline. I would agree with that statement. The government debt is somewhere around $20 trillion. However, the unfunded liabilities are around $232 trillion. The system is toast and bottom line is people are still trying to push more socialist programs. It hasn't worked and won't work now. The new deal and the Great Society are what got us in this position financially today. However, this is for another thread if someone wants to start one.

I think the real problem with these programs being pushed on the children is it is trying to force and agenda on the kids. It is wrong and is presenting one side again as many of these programs do. All that is happening is the LGBTQ crowd is making real enemies that will backfire and backfire badly for them. I know several people that never had a problem with people being what they want to be. But, it is a whole different matter when they are trying to push this kind of thing on their children. I believe that the government knows this well as they have studied these kinds of problems extensively. And it is creating a gulf between the majority and minority group. I think I read one post that had a not too veiled threat of violence toward the LGBTQ group. Most people will never say what they really think and that is dangerous in my opinion. Wars have started that way,
