So are parents going to be OK with this? I mean most schools have parent groups, and all parents are invited to be on those groups and they speak up. This is ludicrous.

Transgender should disqualify him. I don't care how long he's been taking female hormones, the development with male hormones through puberty has already substantially altered his skeletal/muscular structure. It's like legally taking performance enhancers to put on muscle mass. That won't go away because it's being suppressed by hormone therapy.

He either needs to compete as male or there needs to be a transgender category.

You can't change some facts of biology.

When Fairfax changed its policy, enough parents showed up at the meeting that the school board had cops come to the meeting, but they voted over the objections anyhow. It's federal funding.

Same way female teachers that cant handle unruly boys get to stigmatize them as ADHD and put pressure on them to get hooked on Ritalin. But I guess the the curriculum for training teachers has no ethics 101 in it. I'm sure the teachers will take the childs age into account and benchmark it against some ideal "age appropriate" scale.

If that is the case, the majority of parents should withdraw all funding for schools from their taxes and homeschool. And let everyone involved know and understand perfectly that the employer group aint taking this crapola form its employees, from the school board to swamping their local politicans offices and it would be a solid No. It is going to take some tough firm resistance and think people need to do this on many issues.

If the majority are too stupid for words, to stand up for their kids, then some should do this until more join in, but I'd be taking my kids out of that system.

I'm only chiming in here to correct the misunderstanding about musculature and hormones. I haven't put much thought into transgender athletes so I don't really have an opinion on that, specifically.

HRT therapy absolutely diminishes a transwoman's muscles to that of a ciswoman. The only thing it won't change is frame size but, without the testosterone to produce the muscles to support it, I don't see how advantageous that could be.

If you have any doubts, look at transmen who take testosterone. Some of them start out as little skinny things to huge bulky beefy men. And they could compete just fine with cismen. All of it from testosterone. Think of that but reversed.

Again, I don't really have a strong opinion on sports so I'm not trying to sway your opinion; just wanted you to understand what I said in context of your own opinion on it.

I don't know, but I've seen a women weight lifters who juiced and stopped, and their masculine traits did not go away.

The subject has exploded since I last saw it but I wanted to comment a few things.

If you are stuck on gender being defined as whats between your legs, then you are the problem. I see some ignorant statements that it should just be black and white, it should be simple and it should be binary. But thats just it, I am not trying to deny what is between my legs, as a transgender woman I was assigned a male body, I am not trying to hide that or deny it is there. But I am expressing to you mostly stubborn people that if you can move beyond the biological sex you will see gender is psychological and social.

I am a woman simply because I identify as one, my feelings and beliefs make this true. If you disagree then search your own gender identity, are you really you because of your body?

Even further examine your own reality, what makes you who you are, is it something to do with your body and nothing more? My struggle is real, expressing my inner feminine view externally saved my life, I could not fit nor identify as male at all! I was forced to be who I really was or to live life depressed until eventually id give up and end it all. Look at the statistics behind suicide among transgender women, especially of color.

If you really think gender is nothing but what is between your legs than you have a lot to learn.

Along with playing hard ball and absolutely winning against this sickness. To actually hire, pay salaries and pensions, including benefits, medical and dental, to beings that are such disgusting, slimy toads, acting so disrespectful to the parents, their direct employers, wouldn't sit well with me. So they, especially the higher ups in the school, and all the board would be terminated without pay, pensions and medical immediately once they learn their positions as servants to the master, the public.

This is why people are so confused. They believe in these outdated parodies and stereotypes of what transgender people look like. The truth is that you've probably already shared a bathroom with a transgender person and never knew it. Countless transitioned transgender people are rather stealth and you wouldn't even spot them. If gender bathroom laws get enforced and cracked down upon by conservatives, the above situations will happen. See if that won't freak out people even more.

You are a woman if you were born with xx genetics. There are a few exceptions such as children who were gender switched due to birth defects, but even that is hard to pull off with the children in the program I watched, it was clearly the wrong approach. Pretty messe dup kid that ended up committing suicide. Some individuals are homosexual or bisexual. But they're still the xx or xy at birth.

From being programmed about issues that are not as flexible as they're being presented. And that includes boys using girls washrooms, and locker rooms. What someone feels about themselves is their business, but they are not entitled to screw up kids minds, other people, just concentrate on yourself and how you feel about yourself, if you feel like a woman or a man. There will be an ear to listen probably. But don't think this is going to be shoved in other people's childrens minds, because that ear dried up.

We are very much genders, and there is no hiding it.

As for the locker room and bathroom, women are often victims of predatory and exploitative men and don't feel comfortable sharing those with gender benders.

Exactly.
Unfortunately, some people think that if someone feels differently about themselves than most people do, there is something wrong with that person. Some people think that people like that aren't people.

It's terrible that someone should tell kids that not everyone is the same, especially if it has anything to do with sexuality. That's the worst!

You know whats so funny in all of this. I'm reminded of disability car parking spaces close to the shops. Not that depression is funny, but when someone with depression excludes someone in a wheelchair from that space.

I haven't gotten it yet. I'm due to go later this week to get the car tag renewed, but frankly...I'm embarrassed about requesting the handicapped parking permit. I'm 38, quite overweight, and don't look handicapped. I remember reading somewhere (maybe here? or youdon'tlooksick.com) about lupies being harrassed by people in parking lots, in response to some news story asking people to help crack down on handicapped parking fraud. Since I'm heavy, I'm sure people will just think I'm taking advantage of the system. People always seem to assume that overweight people are lazy.

Has anyone here encountered what I fear? I can't imagine having to defend myself, particularly in front of my kids. I only plan to use the placard when I really need to, but still...

By the way, the heart of this and many other issues. The serve and protect are for your children (in this, in society and creeping fascism, always for what you would allow for your children). And what is most disgusting is there shouldn't be this huge unanswered gulf between what would be realized as the will of the majority EMPLOYER GROUP, by the employees. The heart of this is the fascism, the ability to ignore what the majority would agree with, and shove it down your throat as if you are their slave, not their boss.

So allowing them to actually do this is a crime against all souls as all fascism is, not to mention the sickness the 1% is shoving on humanity. I was being sarcastic, but that being said my own brother is a homosexual as a teenager he lived in hell,he nearly committed suicide he has sorted himself out and is now on a 6 digit salary in a loving relationship,do I wish it were different yes but I love him as a brother and accept its his life to decide what he is attracted to,transgendered people probably even have a worse trip through teenage years- but this is an elementary school we are talking about for heavens sake let kids be kids,gender,angst,soul searching that all will start around 13 why confuse kids younger than that?
