I agree with you. And, no, of course. But what does that have to do with the comment "[Russians] are so eager to believe whatever they are told and they don't question it."?

I know a few Russians who remain in Russia. They want to believe that Russia is on the path to becoming a great nation again. This is the line the government feeds them. Most of the Russians I know left Russia because they did not like where the political and economic situation was heading. I think they have a much clearer understanding of what is really going on.

That's just a comedy reply, and is expected from virtually every ill-informed ATS armchair expert on here. Don't tell me, like Sarah Palin, who validated her Russian credentials by being able to see a Russian island from the US, you can too?

Apparently according to MSNBC nearly 10,000 American children are injured or killed by guns every year. www.msnbc.com...

The American Academy of Pediatrics wrote in that “firearm-related deaths continue as one of the top three causes of death in Americans youth. pediatrics.aappublications.org...

Americans must be terrified every day that their kids are going to get shot. Surely?
Yet Americans still feel safer with guns. Why is that?

Statically it's safer in Russia to criticize the State, than it is to have children in the US.

But what would I know. I have all you lovely armchair experts to explain to me about Russia. Thank you for being here.

So, you need to have actually left Russia, to understand the political and economic climate?

And that still has nothing to do with the comment "[Russians] are so eager to believe whatever they are told and they don't question it."

Are there any governments who don't spew "great nation" Rhetoric?

They've never done that as long as I can remember.

We used to in the 60's.What that has to do with this is beyond me.

They left Russia because they understood the political and economic climate. Now that they are living in Europe and the United States, they have access to media they would not have been able to access back in Russia, at least not as freely and without the risk of being stigmatized as a "foreign agent."

Are there any governments who don't spew "great nation" Rhetoric?

In North America and Europe you can easily tune it out. In Russia, it pervades even entertainment programs.

Isn't this hilarious? I'm told that it is supposed to be "satire."

No they dont. They do in Russia though don't they lol.You know I never thought I'd see fascism rise again on Europe but when you watch Putin and his actions he is literally following in Hitler foot steps. From creating the false flag with the Berlin bombings though Hitler didn't kill 100s at the Reich stag. He invaded other countries claiming mistreatment of ethnic Russians like hitler did in poland. He has taken over the media and put himself above the law just like Hitler. And i often wondered how the Germans fell for it. I'm beginning to understand we are seeing it in Russia. And it all boils down to nationalism. Get the country feeling patriotic where complaining or speaking out marks you as a traitor to your county. It gets people to march lock step to there doom. Well they say history repeats itself.

One of my posts disappeared. Never mind.

A quick google does suggest that this does still take place in some schools.

Anyway, that's my day finished. I have no intention (regardless of the appearance of such) of arguing ad infinitum on the internet. The reality is that the average Russian is no more the misinformed idiot, than is the average misinformed American. The credulous exist everywhere, no country is absent of this. What I see on the TV, the papers, the media in general, mostly exists only within that media. Most watch the BBC, but ignore the US channels. Russians take less notice of home grown propaganda than those outside of Russia believe. Those believing otherwise, are themselves influenced by their media. The average Russian does not believe that the US is behind every problem, in fact, many just don't believe the US has as much influence as it is assumed. Russians, on the whole, like America, and Americans, but it doesn't like the politics, or ignorant bigots, whether at home, or abroad. Russian politics stinks, but it is what it is. Having just experienced UK politics in action, and knowing that, due to the bizarre "first past the post" parliamentary voting system, votes are actually discarded (making the vote that I made yesterday, worthless), I wonder why people vote at all. Frankly, IMO, politicians, wherever they may reside, are inherent crooks, will steal from the State, and will say anything to get in office. The only thing that separates Russian politics from Western politics, is that in the West, you have a better mechanism to get rid of them.

Paka.

Only those who think they know the US believe we are behind everything bad in the world throughout history, seems Russians see what most Americans already know.

Russian politics stinks, but it is what it is.

Because there are those such as Putin who are scared of moving forward, but prefer to move backwards instead.

Believe it or not change is good especially when everyone is moving forward while your going backwards.

Nobody is stopping them from having the same type of mechanism...well except the government themselves.

Funny how people still don't accept that US and their puppets can do false flags, even after 9/11
