The news that I saw today (can't remember if US or Cdn news), also showed his bodyguard walking next to him.

Completely agree, just didn't have the time to write it up.

I'm not convinced of the outcome so far, too many unanswered question still despite all of the off topic posts and immediate dismissal after Putin's 'appearance'.

Is one little 1 minute video all it takes to end the speculation after 11 days missing? Seems like some have a short attention span!

I would not vote for Putin, though the people we have in office here seem to be serving somebody other than US Citizens. Have we been taken over by international forces from within already?

I think that is more a testament to the FAILURE of current leadership and the abdication of trust in the standing government in the US than it is anything else. (but yeah, I'd vote for Vlad...)

If you were concerned with Putin missing, a victim of some sinister plot, perhaps murdered, then worried about his condition or health, see him as looking unwell now... You're emotionally involved, moved. Even if you won't admit it.

Putin is a bad guy, about as bad as they come, but I bet it would be impossible to convince most of you of that now, with facts, no rumors, conjecture or speculation.

If you've been had here intentionally, perhaps that is why.

Just imagine if even the Vice President of the US went missing for 10 days and appeared with no explanation. This is a leader of a major country. Its obvious that something nefarious occurred.

I would not be surprised if Putin was given a severe "talking to" over the period of 10 days where he agreed to stop losing money for the oligarchy in his country by pursuing old soviet goals and putting his country in opposition of the west. Time will tell. If his actions and rhetoric against the west starts to soften, then we can conclude that he has been "coached".

The fact that he has reappeared does not make it any less likely that he was faced with a coup. He could have overcome it. He could have been forced to submit and remains in power as a figurehead until the next "election".

One thing you can be sure of, the US government knows what is going on. You may be able to get clues by watching their actions (or lack thereof).

Striker vehicles are a key element of US rapid reaction forces. These were set up to be first contact forces in the event of a conflict with an aggressor. They are demonstrating to Russia that a rapid deployment force can be quickly deployed to counter an incursion in a NATO bloc country..

Tonight, there are reports that video of Putin's meeting today was also several years old. Apparently ABC is questioning its validity.

It's time for Putin to explain where he went.

I'd still say that something's going on.

Can you imagine the howling from the media if President Obama, Prime Minister Harper, Prime Minister Cameron, or Cancellor Merkel disappeared for this long without public explanation?

Hell, I bet there would be major questions even if NICK CLEGG or Joe Biden disappeared for ten days.

Phone calls can easily be re routed anywhere in the world, using call forwarding.

onehuman and doompornjunkie, spot on! Me too, I think this story isn't over yet. 11 days out of the spotlight without any official plausible explanation, that stinks. And then the news about the russian military testing it's readyness to combat - something is afoot.

And finally - watching the short video of the press conference - Putin seems not relaxed, not really.

One thing is for sure: People truly made of steel won't have to show that at every opportunity.

Of course I know of no pictures portraying Staling with knives, guns, tigers or as a judo fighter.

Jokes aside, there's some significant irony in the fact that a google image search of Joe Biden generates about half the results featuring Joe being inappropriately touchy-feely with clearly uncomfortable females. Meanwhile, photos of Putin show a man behaving professionally and properly. Joe Biden acts like a lecherous pervert and gets a pass, Putin acts like a responsible head of state and is considered evil incarnate. I have to wonder if it is the media who idolize leaders who conduct themselves like circus clowns, or the public that is driving that popularity?
