Arming Ukraine will not be a wise idea for any nation, near or far.

Doing so will drag US forces back into the zones of hostility and war in other parts of the world.

US is wise enough!

It is a good idea so long as Russia continues its invasion and occupation of Ukraine territory. Are you suggesting that if the US helps Ukraine Russia will make issues in other parts of the world for the US?

I wish Russia was as wise..

Saudi Arabia has not pumped one barrel more than two years ago. Its the U.S. Shale boom that is flooding the oil market and driving prices down. Down to where they should be FINALLY. I about had to pinch myself today when I gassed up the car. 1.99 per gallon, woo hoo! I can now take the bass boat out for half of what it had been costing me. 20 dollars and fish all day.

This guy and the NY Times are full of crap!

Chinese Money Is Backing Putin’s War

www.thedailybeast.com...

Why is China doing all this? In the Russian strongman, Beijing’s policymakers see not only someone who shares their general outlook and a fighter willing to take on Washington, but also a now needy and therefore pliable junior partner. With America essentially identified as China’s geopolitical opponent, it is only natural that Beijing seeks to fortify the Kremlin. The Chinese are “happy to join with Moscow to expand business in defiance of Washington,” notes Alexander Salitsky of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations.

=======================================================================================================

Like mentioned before, China knows that if Russia goes down then Beijing will be the main opponent to crush in the geopolitical ambitions of the AngloSaxon alliances. BRIC nations alone can make a target of growing business with each other at the rate of 20% a year, even if quality of the products is a notch lower than those offered from elsewhere.

I wish Ukrainians were on ATS that could share 'on the ground view points,' instead of reading a bunch of crap by people that are either Pro West or Pro Russia--all of it being total uneducated opinion. Though some people clearly have a better grasp on the situation than allot of people lowering themselves by blaming solely Russia.

I don't know about some of you, but the more I read simple Pro West explanations for things, the more annoying it becomes. I don't see Russia nearly as blatant in its crimes as I do the USA, so allot of people here seem to buy allot, and I mean ALLOT, of propaganda.

I think flesh699 is old enough to answer the question himself. I asked the question because he started out talking about both and in the end decided he supported Russia.

If you are going to claim both sides do something and are tired of pro west or pro Russian labeling only to choose a side is a bit disingenuous.

Maybe next time read the posts before jumping to a wrong conclusion.

My agenda is not anti Russia - Its anti Putin. But way to prove his and my point all at the same time.

Not that we didn't already knew that, but good to know you are admitting you have an agenda.

And before replying back with either asking what is your agenda or trying to make the suggestion about what mine is.

I'm pro all the people who became/become victims by the criminal foreign policies of my own and other Western governments...and by so I'm anti-Western foreign policy as it is nowadays and not anti-Western.

I often wonder, if there is generally something wrong with your heads ... something is definately out of place here, and as often before ... what you write, is opposite to reality.

The reality is, the opposition forces in eastern Ukraine are losing the war. They are basically being exterminated, and the cities of donetsk and other places, are being bombed to smitherines and civilians are on fleeing in millions, over to Russia. It's a horrifying warzone, where eastern Ukraine have little or no support. The so called "Russian support", that you are vomiting out of your behind ... are basic at best and consists of voluntary individuals whose "purpose" is to try and force Russia to provide support, which Putin isn't complying to.

Russia is losing this war, like every conflict for the past 30 years, because they have no stomach for fighting. The US and EU know this, and are taking advantage of it ... and the civlians in the area, are paying with their lives. Cities are in ruins there ... people on the run, and western media is treating it as collateral damage, and reporting only "a few hundred casualties", in areas that are entirely laid to waste by Ukrainian forces.

The irony here is, that when it was Kosovo and "Western allied" that were the "fleeing" party in the war conflict, it was called "ethnic clenching". And labelled a "war crime". But when it's Ukraine, and Ukrainians mass murdering Russians ... because they're Russians, and actively murdering them in their regions, that Ukraine wants control of, because to them it's a "historic" Ukraine area (Just like Kosovo was to Serbians). The mass murder, and complete lay in waste of entire cities that makes Kosovo look like child playground ... then it's "minimal and acceptable civilians casualties". Hidden in the "officially non existing" western propaganda machine. Followed up by individuals like Xcathia here, that rally behind the Hitler regime ...

Xcathia, hating Russians because they're Russians ... is no better than hating Jews, because they're Jews. And hating Muslims, because they're muslims, is no better than hating Jews, because they're Jews.

It's the same crime ...

The Jews have an inherital right to their existance, just as the Russians have a right to their regions. They have the same right, to keep their place ... as Albians had, to keep the Serbian area of Kosovo.

But people like you, are hipocrites ... to you it's not the same ... because they're Muslims, or Jews ... or Russinas ... they're bad. There is no objectivity in your mind ...

The "error" here, that is being done ... is that the "Rebels" in eastern Ukraine should leave. Instead of fighting, they should provide cover for the civilians to remove themselves to Russia ... and then leave. Live, to fight another day... so to speak. They will never win this, as long as there is a Putin or other western puppets in power in Russia, that have no other purpose than to earn their dollars. All they will accomplish, wether their name is Putin or Yieltsin, is that they tear down Russia until there is nothing left ... and that's what US and EU are counting on.

And that's the truth.

We do have a person from Ukraine active on these boards. He said he had separatist bombs going off on his block on a weekly basis. Because he didn't toe the pro-Russian line he was ignored by many on this site.

I am amazed how you just lied to everyone in your post.

I am NOT anti Russian as you falsely claim. I am anti Putin and that is based on his arrogance and mental disability when it comes to understanding the USSR no longer exists and his invasion of Ukraine / occupation of Ukraine.

As for the rest Russian and the Pro Russian rebels have done the same yet I noticed you completely ignored those actions.

Ukraine did not invade East Ukraine.
The west did not invade Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine.

Russian citizens invaded Ukraine and led the rebellion in the East. I agree Russia must remove its forces from Ukraine and end support to the rebels.

You claim its a Hitler regime... By all means explain this and specifically identify those who are following in the name of Hitler (Putin is on that list by the way). I ask because there are more members of the nationalist socialist neo Nazi groups in the Russian Duma than in the entire Ukrainian government.

55+ members of the Russia Duma to be exact.

Maybe you and the rest can actually read and understand my posts before commenting and telling me what my position is.

Finally if you guys spent the same amount of time researching than you do personally attacking people on this site these debates would be a whole lot better than they are. Or do you guys launch personal attacks because you know you cant defend your position.

Engage the topic and not the person.

I see you just cant resist the urge to go down the personal road instead of sticking to the topic. Like I asked the other poster, do you do this to obfuscate in hopes no one know that you cant support your position?

If you cannot remain on topic why do you even bother posting?

The next responses from you both need to be on topic. I am not going to respond to your pointless BS thats not on topic. Stop derailing threads and launching personal attacks. If you cant support your claims then don't make them. Trying to hide those lies in personal attacks needs to stop.

Disclaimer: The following post is my own opinion and must be taken as such.

I don't think anybody in this thread has ever said or even implied "All Russians are bad because they are Russians." Certainly not Xcathdra. He's made his stance clear multiple times, which is a stance I also hold. I'm not anti-Russia. I'm anti-Putin.

Russia was a valuable ally to the west through the nineties and early 2000's. They have taken great steps to combat the inequality that Soviet Communism had caused. People were living better and longer, they had more freedoms. Russia had just finished hosting the Sochi Games, which in my mind was a rousing success despite a few very minor logistical glitches. Then again, every major event has it's foibles.

Your assertion that Putin isn't sending his forces to Ukraine to fight is patently false. There has been at least one thread on here discussing the families of the "forgotten" soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces who were forced to keep silent about their lost loved ones because they officially were never in Ukraine. It's a sad reality, but many Russian Armed Forces didn't volunteer to go to Eastern Ukraine. I'm sure a good number did, patriotism is a powerful ideology, but many were "voluntold" that they were going to Ukraine. Putin has sent in great numbers of Russian hardware and armaments to foment the conflict there. His end goal is absurdly clear. He wants Eastern Ukraine in order to secure an uninterrupted path between Moscow and Crimea, where the Black Fleet is stationed. Depending on how this conflict goes, or how unstable he is, he may decide to also take Kiev and simply absorb Ukraine into the slowly reforming Soviet Union.

To think otherwise is to not think logically. My sincere wish is that Putin comes to his senses and realizes that the longer he continues down this path of violence, it will only further Russia's isolation from the rest of the world. I have this sinking feeling that this won't happen, and some great tragedy is just over the horizon. What that is, I don't know. Putin has not so subtly reminded the world that he leads a Nuclear armed nation, and he won't hesitate to use Nuclear arms against a threat. I hope it doesn't come to that.

Aren`t you overstating ?

He was talked too and only 2 bombs did go off on his street, and he was an expat who was still under the illusion it was all Putin his fault...he got talked too about it not being the case.

The opposite has been done towards many and they are still here.

Which collapse are they talking about? The only change we have is the artificially inflated price per barrel has been pushed down to close to reasonable. This positively affects only those people commuting to jobs. The only negative is the oil barons will only make billions instead of multi billions until they can get the government to stop fracking and OPEC will raise the per barrel price up enough to make enormous profit and recover their "losses".

You make it sound as though you changed his mind about things. Reading through the thread, this doesn't seem to be the case.

By using words like "Was still", you are speaking in past tense, which indicated to me that you meant he is no longer under this "illusion". I apologize if I misinterpreted. As I've said before, my english skills are a little rusty thanks to disuse over the years.
