Well, I was hardly talking about you, was I? The part about goats and the fence was related to pre-civilisation man (who lived some 6000+ years ago) who was tracking the whereabouts of planet Jupiter in the sky. They studied the stars, and started doing the maths and understood that there was consistency and predictability. These early scientists needed an environment where they could meet other astronomers, and after a while the first cities and states developed, and written language was standardised and the first economies saw day's light. Soon, the astronomers coupled up with builders and farmers, and architecture and geography came as an effect....

If you did all this, and can call yourself pioneering civilisation, I'd like to say thank you for your efforts, and hear how you got to become 6000 years without anyone noticing

Zeus(Greek), Set(Egypt), Anzu( Babylon or Sumerian, it the same thing almost), Indra(Hindu), Lei Gong(Chinese), or any other Thunder God could be depicted with NT version of Satan.

Lightning and Storms are classic taboos in mythologies, where the summoning up of storms is said to have shown the Gods anger, but it just nature. It no different then the classic depiction of sunlight piercing the clouds shining on somebody as if Heaven noticed, one will think one is blessed. Or if someone got struck by lightning and died, where others could have believed that the person may have offended the gods in a previous life or the now.

I'd like to find any correlation between a thunder god and the planet venus, but alas I don't think there is one. As for Satan it could go with anything that is in the form of an adversary(enemy) or anything that has the potential to kill like it was a deliver of evil.

Idk about Thor, but him being the enforcer of his father laws sounds alot like Jesus, while Zeus, well, he'd enforce it itself.

Zeus was the king of his pantheon and god of thunder and he was directly linked to planet Jupiter and Thursday. The same could be said about most, if not all the other gods I mentioned, like Ammon, Baal, Bel and Marduk. They were all Jovians and different names of the same god, whose origins are veeery ancient.

True, but he didn't become king till he over threw his father, Cronus a harvesting God. Whose often depicted wielding a scythe or sickle and was known for castrating his father, leading to the birth of Venus, and Zeus was his main adversary during the titan war. As for Amun Zeus, this may have just popular culture comparisons between the cultures during Egyptian and Greek relations. Amun Zeus seem incredibly similar to the Greek God "Pan".

The reason I compared Zeus to Set, was the fact both are storm gods, difference was is that Set is a god of destruction as well then just a storm bringer. Also the fact he cuts Osiris to pieces, where as this leads to the birth tales of Horus is somewhat similar to the idea of venus being born out of Uranus reproductive organ hitting the sea.

Not only that, Zeus can be a big time prick in mythology, from acts of resurrecting his beloveded son, Hercules, to even raping people. Man and Women. As for Zeus being compared to Satan, well anything that fall from heaven like meteorites or lightning hitting the earth could easily be symbolized with evil.

Even shooting stars were considered bad omens.

I would say any false worship to anything other than the One true God is actually directed at the devil.

The comment about the fence and the goats just seemed out of place and the fact that it was something I was thinking about lately kind of threw me off. And no you don't owe me any thanks as I'm sure I had nothing to do with the development of civilization over the last 6,000 yrs. At least if I did I have no knowledge or recollection of it. I feel much better now. Thank you!

To worship anything is tricky; it implies you recognize a power greater than yourself and have to juggle "freewill self determinism". One can do so without blind devoutness. I am one of Gods greatest fans; I recognize it as my creator. Satan is one of gods creations (not sure what its problem is). To take this further; as I am a God particle; I am just the same only on a much smaller scale. Seeking knowledge about myself just as it is doing through us.

Be nice to those goats then. Civilisation may depend on it

Please help me here. What is worship and what makes it either true or false? Is it for instance legal to worship a carpenter that was last seen about 2000 years ago after saying something along the lines of «I'll be back in a minute, don't turn off the lights.»

Are we allowed to worship anything at all that is physical in nature? Is it even possible? What exactly is worship? What makes it different from let's say desire, love, awe or fascination?

Worship in a theological sense would be: "showing great worth or reverence to a deity/deities"

And it would be a false god if it were directed toward any god/deity/angel that wasn't the One true God. Even if the person performing the act of worship is unaware the the deity being worshiped was a false god.

Believing that you need to tell GOD that it is worth enough to be PRAISED, is FALSE in of itself.

Now you are telling your All-Powerful GOD it is worthy ??

Ahh, yes, tell the ALMIGHTY how it is good enough to be revered, what revelations this must send through the cosmos!

I think the idea form is this: 'to pray' is an act of BEGGING for an outcome that benefits you or your constituents and in so doing; you hamstring yourself. To ask for guidance is another ball of wax (you relinquish control to the God that created the realm you exist within). I have a problem with the arrogance.

Like saying Thursday and Saturday several times a day? Listen to yourself speak, man, according to your logic, or theology (sic.) you are worshipping Ra hundreds of times daily-- As-Ar (How you actually spell Osiris) the rest of the English speaking world. TV written in Hebrew is תו and it means among other things brand, mark or sign. Would you say that staring into a blinking TV for hours a day, where you are served a horrid mix of violence and pleasures in the truckloads.... Would you say watching let's say Troy or Hercules in bliss and awe would constitute to worshipping the devil? And what about that Jesus movie Mel Gibson made a few years back? Star Wars? Hitler's last days on History channel?

Where does the line go between merely watching contra worshipping the crap? What's your deal here, prophet?

What line HAVE YOU DRAWN IN THE SAND; and where does it cross your ALMIGHTY imaginary idea of FICTION vs NON-FICTION. You have offered NOTHING in the/a sense of fixing a problem YOU PERCIEVE EXISTING. Help us with your infinite wisdom.

“No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.” [ESV] Luke 11:33-36

Read through that and think for yourself if your light is good or bad, and how you curse people you donot know, stalk them and keep up a tone and a kind of sociopathic behaviour that is somewhat intimidating, at least tiresome. Please, get over whatever you are hung up at.

Jesus would never say those words to an individual that lives within the sphere of (self experienced) divine grace; neither would Mohammed or Buddha say THIS as perceived/told by you. Luke said this according to you: "Stalk them and keep up a tone and a kind of sociopathic behavior/at least tiresome, please get over whatever you are hung up at". Not sure a compliment was implied, but if taken as one all is good.
