How the hell can it be 'affordable' ?

It was designed, and ran the same way medicaid, and medicare are.

Rob from the have's give to the have not's so the so called 'less fortunate' can have free access to a corporate product-healthcare.

Of which people ALREADY had access to under MEDICAID.

Socialized medicine indeed.

It is not socialized...

You can't be forced to pay for something out of pocket and then call it socialism.

As it has been pointed out, compare it to other countries with actual socialized health care and get back to us neo

And medicare was not stealing from the have nots, it was taking care of our elderly who paid their dues.

I will agree medicaid got abused but started out as something that could have worked.

IMO making insurance mandatory will only increase the cost of care - just look at car insurance.

Exactly. This is why the insurance companies was pushing for the ACA to go through because the individual mandate gave them a license to steal. This is why so many peoples policies were canceled so that when people started a new policy they could jack up the rates.

Give me a break Buster, you were all for this and Obama while many of us were screaming NO! NO! NO!

NOW you're on the anti ACA band wagon. Wow, just wow.

The reason they HAVE to now say it's unaffordable is because it never was but the now they can't hide behind the unknown. It's known now that 50 million people didn't sign up. The 9 million or so that did can't afford the whole program that still pays for the low income to receive medical care like they were prior to ACA. Also, many middle income persons who were insured prior to the ACA and aren't now because they can't afford medical insurance. The whole thing was a failure from before the beginning of the POTUS' signature on the bill.

Just a bit off topic.

My husband's employer provides insurance and it covers the entire family. How is the ACA going to effect the coverage?

This may be a stupid question and I apologize in advance.

I seem to recall them delaying the employer mandate for a year or two correct? So, does anyone really know what's going to happen to those already insured through employers?

You are going to get horror stories but no one knows your situation and it had lots of variables.

They aren't paying for it. OTHER PEOPLE ARE.

Still doesn't cover the GD benefits received so NEW taxes were created. 'The alternative minium TAX'.

The MEDICARE capital gains TAX.

SOCIALIZED MEDICINE.

Between medicare, and medicaid. That accounts for over 100 million people. That runs massive deficits.

The ACA is NO different.

I don't give a rats snip about other countries. Different populations, Different currency values. Different regulations. DIFFERENT GD EVERYTHING.

THEY CAN'T be compared.

that depends on lots of factors. how many employees? how many full time how many part time. most companies are either dropping employees to get smaller; cutting individual working hours or are dropping coverage and taking the penalty because it is cheaper than covering it's employees. some big ones and lots of small ones have done this and more will be forced to when their waivers run out. not all of them will but its happening a lot.

Thanks for the reply. That's sort of what I thought but, I guess until the little waiver thing is over, no one knows.

Agreed.
Watch a little daytime tv. Tons of advertisements for things like fat rascals, bathtubs, and even KNEE BRACES that "may be available to you for free if you are on Medicare or Medicaid". Scam artists milking the system.

Thanks, I pretty much thought as much. Thankfully my husband hasn't been laid off (yet) but, he is pretty detrimental to his companies profits so hopefully he is safe. Fingers crossed.

We are not screwed. It is an individuals choice as to their own health. Take a holistic approach to your well being and heal thyself. Westerners have handed all control over to corporations and their government puppets, even their own diet.

The internet is full of examples of the benefits that come from healthy diet and healthy thinking, and is also filled with frightened, out of control people that lay the blame of their decaying minds and bodies into the laps of people that could care less for you and more about what is in your pocket.

The only change this country will benefit from is when people start taking their lives into their own hands.

It's not socialized and if your refuse to compare it to other countries then Idk what to say.

There are plenty of examples of what it actually is and the aca does not fit the mold

When a medical system is for profit ..well just get the concept of affordable right out of the way..it isn't.

Epic load of crap! I work in healthcare! I see the monstrous bloated hand of government oversight and regulation that strangles innovation, efficiency, and profitability! Government like everything is destroying healthcare and making it more expensive. Yes hospitals and insurance companies are to blame. But if you're a doctor try opening up a practice and taking cash for services. The government will come in and tell you how to wipe your financial rear end with regulations and rules even dictating how much you can charge for a service aka Medicare. Insurance companies have been around a long time not just recently in the last 20 years. Health insurance was working fine for millions of Americans before ACA! Maybe Americans need to get off their lazy rear ends and eat better and exercise more so they don't have to depend on health insurance so much. Maybe Americans should stand up and rise against the brown tide of illegal immigrants costing us billions in unpaid medical, educational, criminal costs etc. There are so many problems with our country and mostly due to our inept, corrupt, and inefficient government! To stand up and shout nationalize this or that makes you either stupid or insane!

Now this is probably crazy of me to say but:
Shouldn't Obama's health care advisor Jonathan Gruber have done all this research before obamacare was put in place?

Do you have any idea how many 10's of thousands of pages have been released as clarifying guidelines for ACA? Its not enough the law itself was bigger than War and Remembrance....but the documents that clarify it dwarf it in size.

Do you know how much our company has spent on advisors to help ensure we weren't violating the most vague federal law to ever be passed?

ACA convinced me of one thing: there is nothing that our government could do that would actually light a fire in The Peoples ass.

I disagree. Socialized medicine would mean that you wouldn't be paying out of pocket for services.

This is some kind of bastardized fascism.

People aren't between the employer matching both ss, and the medicare contributions.

Once again if people were ACTUALLY paying for what they received in benefits, The capitol gains MEDICARE surtax would have never been created.

There is not a SINGLE government program that pays for itself.

NOT ONE.

The only thing that pays for them is 'redistributing the wealth', and by printing money, borrowing money from places like China, and issuing trash like treasuries.

AND IT STILL DOESN'T pay the bills.

Obama's health care advisor Jonathan Gruber has admitted that the Affordable Care Act may not be able to cover all U.S. citizens health care at an affordable cost. He is now recommending that the ACA only cover basic levels of care, and that if anyone desires expensive surgery they will have to pay out of pocket.

This means that instead of removing the mandate, and allowing citizens the choice to either purchase comprehensive care from insurance companies or pay their own way, we will instead all be forced to pay for our most expensive treatments and also pay for basic insurance coverage.

My fellow Americans, welcome to socialized medicine.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

ACA, Obamacare, or whatever you want to call it isn't socialized healthcare.

It's fascist, without question, the state forcing the individual to purchase ANYTHING is fascist, the state paying for said purchase would be socialist. This is corporatist, and I can't wait for it to fail, because when it fails, single payer wont be far behind.
