From reading the article, the younger generations of boys/men are confused about girls/women because the paradigm is ever-changing, and, perhaps, due to lack of good male role models in their life that respect and consider women in their life as not only equals but as contributing members of society.

So we're just stupid and ignorant, then.

Typical.

Couldn't at all have anything to do with recognizing bulls# and steering clear of it.

I have to admit, if I were male, I'd steer WELL clear of today's women.

We're all crazy.

The men that run away from women and fear feminism? We don't need them, they need to die out. It's evolution. The smarter, more evolved, self assured males, like myself will do just fine, procreate and have a great life. There's no room in this world for men who can't face reality and need to hide away playing video games and becoming internet trolls. This is how we will evolve as a society. Get rid of these weak minded, whining baby-men and let's move on. More good women for the rest of us.

You would have to discuss that with the author of the article, because he uses that term.

On the topic of the OP, it's understandable that men would choose to be celibate rather than put up with today's spoiled feminist prima donnas as a worse half (I dare not call them the better half) Flip the script, would a woman really want to put up with a man who marginalizes & insults them constantly? Hell no. At least I sure wouldn't. If the social tides were in a massive swing against women like it is right now with men, I'd say screw that & not bother. Why exactly is this so difficult for women to understand? If you're cut down & insulted enough, told through social cues & movements all of this garbage, you'll shrink away from the culprits.
It's not little boys having an irrational tantrum about what the girl on the playground won't do with or for them, it's the boys on the playground smelling the hypocritical BS coming from the girl gang, and not liking the treatment, insinuated or otherwise. Poor treatment and marginalization of women in the PAST does not make a case for doing that exact thing to someone else NOW. This is what feminists refuse to admit. It's not a movement any more for equality, it's a movement of prejudice, and it's got society so effed in the head with double talk that they're lead to believe that any objection to the misguided dominance goals (dominance! not equality!) is a neon sign for more abuse.

As to the person who whined about porn, I bet a LARGE portion of feminists do view porn, and I bet they're confused as hell because they're probably all hot & bothered by it, but ashamed that they're hot & bothered by it. Thus, deflecting blame to men for the product they partake in. Because oh my word, sex products can't possibly be exciting, or a turn-on EVER, it must be the menfolk's fault.
I have no one to blame but myself for porn viewing, it's MY choice. I'm not an exhibitionist, but I don't mind people who are. You don't get porn without 'em, and I like me some good porn. And some bad porn, some of the hilariously bad porn is better than a Hollywood comedy

My cousin was unemployed for 3 years, (he lost a good job due to the depression) , he was desperate to find a standard job, and he had to do all sort of temporary labor work that payed almost nothing. His wife on the other hand, have had many more opportunities to find a job than him, just because everybody prefers to hire a good looking woman.
So she got a job and he didn't. In a society of gender equality, a house husband would sound fine.
Yeah right...
His wife's attitude has changed a lot since then, she doesn't respect him at all, she tells him he is not a man anymore , her friends make fun of him, and they are divorced now, she took the child, the house, the car, and she already has a new lover.
While my cousin got a job at last, he is now paying support to both child and wife and lives in misery.

My woman puts pressure on me to get married, but with all the sh!t I see happening around me, I am afraid to do so.

Is it still a secret that women have a much better treatment by society now days?
If a man hits a woman everybody is going to attack him, If a woman hits a man, everybody is going to laugh at him
A woman expects the man to help her with her luggage, or any labor work, would most women do that for a man?
They usually have a much better treatment by the police (at least where I live), they let them in every face control club, and she has a much better chance to get sex when she wants it, and take advantage of a situation using her ''goodies'' to incite and provoke. The usually get a job way more easily than an equally skilled man.
They get much better treatment by the judge in divorces (playing the helpless lady card). and they generally get more respect than a man.

If the feminist movement was all about equality, they should also preach against all the special treatments that have passed to us from the days back when women were seen inferior to men.

Either a woman is a delicate thing we have to protect and treat them with special respect, or she is equal to men and should be treated as such with no special ''rights''.
Right now their able to have one’s cake and eat it too.

I'd be the first to sign up for a robot boyfriend. Robot boyfriend won't dutch oven me in the middle of the night, or declare he's too "tired" to reciprocate after some uh.. how do I put this without breaking the T&C. Oral Exam? Yeah.

I always reciprocate and never dutch oven.
Look me up!

If some "men" are checking out it's not because of woman, but more likely mental problems (like adhd or autism or ausperger) or not getting the extra help they used to get - via a swift kick in the *** - from sexist fathers who couldn't let them be unmanly. Keep in mind guys were always checking out via drug addiction, so checking out via computers is nothing new. The only issue is many people don't realize how addictive computers can be, so it's something which happened by surprise. As society learns more about computer addiction, guys who do that will receive more help.

I'm on the assumption there's a mass of exodus of guys from society into addiction. If this is in error then my reply is more aimed at men and woman because I think men and woman can succumb to addictions.

I agree with those posters who sneer at these "men". A guy who cannot face the world and runs away is not deserving of this life.

I'm at a loss to understand why men and women have to have the same attitude to all members of the opposite gender?

For example, the way I relate to you as a woman and say the way I relate to ScientificRailgun, should it be the same just because you are both female (I presume)? For me that would be putting you both in a prison of my perception.

As I have matured in this life I have discovered that I don't have to have blanket attitudes. We are all unique now. There is no normal. I wish we could all take this opportunity to explore the freedom we have. We hang on to these stereotypes of bygone ages yet they are prisons of self expression.

Is it not better that I allow you to be you, for the woman you are and the choices you make? At the same time I can allow that freedom to every other woman and man on the planet, without the prejudice of what I think you should be because of your gender.

I've been experimenting for a long time and this is the conclusion I have reached. We are entering an era of individualism in the Western societies. There is space for a kaleidoscope of diversity of relationships.

As a male I really don't want to live up to the traditional idea of masculinity. Others in my family do. That's cool with me, but I would want to explore equality and individualism and be related to in a unique way. It is much more creative and perhaps a lot less boring.

I will put in my own thought in this thread. I am hermit type person who feel I never found in this life "what I need in women to make it something I want". But the reason I have given up on women is that they where not the caring, mature, spiritual, nurturing people I wanted and where very much "the grass is greener on the other side" kind of attitude.

And then we have the ones that have been broken by other males who will be a pain to be around blaming you for their hurts just because I share the same gender. And the whole dollhouse dream for ego external value towards others is quite insane and very superficial.

I believe in equality and see all souls as having both male and female traits within them. But feminism have become a tool for ego hungry females as patriarchy is a tool for ego hungry males. Both these tools suck when it makes a difference in rights for a soul regardless of gender.

But then from my point of view the souls become nicer the more spiritual they are. There are a few psychic/empaths women I have meet that I would not have minded being around in an equal relationship (us against the world) 20 years ago. With them you probably can have a relationship where 2 souls become as one single whole.

Namaste

So what? I gave up on men years ago. The death of the human animal, rather, its extinction would be the best thing to happen to this planet. We've done enough pillaging.

Men and women no longer breeding? Great news!

Incidentally, men look less like men these days. Just another reason. I'm heterosexual. I'm not interested in men who look/act like women. You're no man if you shave anything other than your face.

More power to you, mate. Buck the system. Myself, I hold onto certain tenets of my femininity, but discard others. I'm a humanist, meaning I want equal treatment for everyone. Not special treatment for one gender over another. True equality. If a woman can pass Basic Training, she can be on the front lines. If a man wants to, he can be househusband dad and take care of the youngins. # this stupid system of assigned roles.

Oh, and Feminists HATE me. I say I want equality for all, they cheer. I say that means women should have to pay child support if ex-husband gets custody, they tackle me and beat me with their shoes.

Since I'm just like the people described by the op ("checked out from society,") I would say it is not completely ignorant. I don't date, I don't vote, I don't steal, I don't eat chemicals. My life has been defined more by the things I refuse to do than by the things I actually do. And why? Because humanity is building a violent, shameful existence for itself, at the very high cost of the Earth.

I think this is more about the power of the internet and computers to addict people than it's men or woman exiting society.

Has nothing to do with sexism.

Anyone want to counter my thinking?

You are right for you. You can do as you please. One day you might feel like being more traditionally feminine than another day. Some days you might feel militant.

Who among them can say you are wrong?

All I know is I want the space to be me and in return I give others the space to be who they are and extra room for growth and change, haha!

Things go very wrong when we start imposing our values on others. That is when the prison bars start popping up. That is when many an escape plan is hatched.

None of the 'opt outs' that I know are addicted to the internet or computers. No, they don't have mental issues either.

Got anymore 'thought's you want to share?

Its funny...

There is truth to what you say...

However.... all women eventually realize that they have an expiry date on their reproduction privilege. I think most women play this game of feminism, up until they realize that a woman's fertility doesnt last forever...

Women end up as much a victim of this as men.

That is very insightful and if we all could be unbiased to our own diverse natures and take the time to understand each other's philosophies and needs, as well as being kind, then I believe that would be a good start. Because a young single man's idea of masculinity can be a world apart from another married with children man's reality of what that entails.
