For now, I record the profile names & do a few other things with that info outside of ATS. But, I won't comment on that in this forum.

Why - is stalking against the TOS?

Hardly stalking. Let's call it research.

Just like these debunkers, they prefer lies to the truth. Since I can't kill them or shut them up, I tolerate their BS.

Enlightening sentiment.

Really, dude? Just deal with it. Unless ATS has determined that the TOS relays to my life outside of the site, your suggestions are ludicrous. [SNIP]

Equating this with a dream state is flabbergasting.

I think you missed my point or I didn't really express it well.

No. I have never seen a UFO. I do dream and I imagine that describing a UFO event is somewhat like trying to describe a dream. I didn't mean to diminish ufo sightings. I have had other experiences that are odd and profound but also entirely subjective. I don't expect anyone to take my experiences seriously even though they are quite real to me. The nature of UFO sightings is that they are elusive and subjective. Not that they aren't real.

Hi

I'm mostly a lurker here, but wanted to put my 2 pence in.

I think true believer and skeptic alike all quietly believe that it would be very exciting for aliens to be visiting good old planet earth, otherwise no one would be visiting this particular forum, so there is common ground to be found.

However, Ufology can never present itself from a position of strength as a concept or even topic of discussion in the real world due to the quantity of hoaxes, low quality "evidence", and positions of absolute unquestioning belief that exist around the topic.

It's these very things that devalue the subject and do the most harm against it ever being taken seriously, and as such scrutiny, such as weeding out the blurry dots in the sky that are offered as being "absolute" proof, putting aside the entertaning but inane "telepaths", discounting unsupported claims of "this happened to me", and calling out other weak non-evidence and hoaxers is absolutely the correct way to go about things.

It's unfortunate that believers don't appear to realise that it's the only way forward to gain any real measure of accuracy, an idea of what and where to really look at, and a sense of actual relevant subject depth on the topic of ufology.

duaneology: Smartasses are a dime a dozen, I should know, ahem. However, imo, when you show your more serious side, I see someone who could make a great addition to our family here. Check your pm's.

I don't like smart asses either.

I think you and I are going to buddies 4 life

**ATTENTION**

Civility and decorum are required in all forums on ATS.

If you can't be nice, or at least courteous, then don't post at all.

Thank You.

I have seen the results of NASA photo manipulation. I have discovered some of these alterations myself which were uncontrovertible.

Well start a thread and post some of these so called manipulations you claim to have found, as I have said in an earlier post many of us are keen long time hobby photographers or even pros on here, so post it and of course prove it!

If you check my posts I do think there is bound to be other life out there it's a numbers thing but it doesn't mean they visit or ever have visited here.

I'm also a newbie. How this post could be so long-winded and succinct is beyond me, but damn good job at pinning and wrestling into submission exactly how I view the subject.

Now to figuring out this 'star and flag' protocol...i'm purty sure this post deserves both.

So true on all counts, plus they always claim science is what they go by, but never apply any real science to their explanations and platitudes regarding the phenomenon.

As to the OP's question, There has indeed been an ongoing organized effort (Highly organized and very well funded) to debunk, ridicule, ostracise, and destroy any and all legitimate and credible reports of UFO's or alien creatures visiting Earth for any reason or circumstance. Since the late 40's is when it became serious business with this agenda, and it has gotten worse and more visible. Our current government holds a stance still that is just now beginning to make even main stream science "Laugh out loud" at what the say publicly about the phenomenon. Yearly funding to continue this exceeds the Billion dollar range by a long ways.

Apparently, you're unaware that many people interested in UFOs are disinclined to believe that they are extraterrestrial craft piloted by "aliens".

Ufology is a dead topic and needs to be closed as such. The only way for it to live is to become part of science, something that many in that community are unwilling to engage into, because of egocentrism, arrogance and feeling of superiority. Nothing should be claimed as a fact without proof but if there is something that cannot be explained, theories that suggest existence of other beings should not be dismissed.

Yes, because anyone who accepts the most logical explanation is obviously part of some grand conspiracy to undermine this forum.

That's called speculation. Many times that's all there is to go by. That and personal opinions which is all fair game considering what we are talking about is unknown.

there is nothing wrong with having a viewpoint that is equally unscientific as an opposing view.

There is nothing wrong with an unscientific viewpoint so long as claims unsupported by testable evidence aren't presented as fact.

I'm well aware that some people have chosen to look at it this way, and even the best evidence in this field reduces the alien possibility from slim to none, however to discount it as a possibility entirely is just pedantry and is as ignorance of a similar measure to blind belief.

At the end of the day, aliens and UFOs have become a synonymous topic, and it should be expected that if someone believes they have seen a UFO they will automatically make the leap to " aliens".
