Where does it say anywhere that they were protestors? Yes this stuff happens and when a community is on high alert from the jarring reality a few hours ago, I really wouldn't be surprised that this happened at all.

Do people really expect the police to just stand there and get hit with bottles?

No, I expect them to arrest the guilty parties and leave the remaining peaceful protestors be. There is absolutely no reason to fire gas and rubber bullets into a crowd of people because of the actions of one person.

Really?

And how do you suggest they do that?

Just walk into the crowd and ask them who threw it?

At this point it is mob action...the crowd has no reason to be out there at night, they are only looking for a confrontation.

The police had the street blocked in both directions.

Because there was a mob formed in the middle of the street.

Do you not remember that there were riots and looting the past two nights?

Should the police just ignore that???

I said it before, I'll say it again. There is a time and a place for a peaceful protest...after dark in the middle of the street is not the time or place.
i must have missed that page in the peaceful protest rule book

Ya know, I've seen a lot of comments on the web about this being a strictly black protest/riot, but the videos and pictures show something different. There is a good mix of people coming in to this neighborhood to support the situation.

I respect that. And it's not about "white guilt". It all boils down to what's right and wrong.

LOL.

Go ahead, make excuses.

I guess the police should have just stayed home and let the mob riot and loot for a third night in a row.

The sad thing about all this...these protestors, online arm chair activists, and everyone commenting on how horrible this "police state" is...all of you are diminishing the death of a teenage kid in order to get your own jollies off of this.

The protestors are idiots, they are doing a disservice to the death of the kid.

Protestors beat up a guy walking a dog.

Guess you guys are just as bad as the MSM in your selective reporting. Don't want to tarnish this image of a "peaceful protest".

Oh yeah...there was that little thing about the rioting and looting two nights in a row. But you guys have no idea why the police would show up in force tonight...hmmmmmm????

My taxes didn't pay for those kids to beat up that dude. My taxes are paying for the police to throw journalists at soda machines, gas politicians, and beat up my fellow citizens.

Big difference and not relevant.

May have found more censorship. Was reading Vice, and apparently a fresh Ferguson story has been pulled. Link active, all text of article removed.

Here's a pic of the link to story on homepage of Vice:

This Phony 'Anonymous' Site Was Set Up to Trap Ferguson Hacktivists
Opferguson.com is not what it seems. It collects the IP addresses of whoever logs on. This information, according to the creator, a self-avowed Anonymous opponent, is then open for law enforcement to act upon.

Absolutely f***ing surreal.

Some interesting observations I spotted earlier: While the good livefeeds were dropping like flies, I hopped onto the Fox2 feed for a bit, which basically showed a bunch of these troops standing around in what seemed to be a staging area, before it got shut off as well.

All wearing the camo and vests with POLICE patch, as seen in your picture. However, I spotted one guy whose vest said MEDIC.

Um, since when does a police force have combat medics??

Also, during interviews on feeds, I recall a lady saying that they were wearing no name tags or insignia, and refused to provide badge numbers.

Is it just me, or does this seem like deja vu to the unmarked "not-Russian" troops during the intial annexation of Crimea???

It is completely relevant because actions like these is what is causing the police to be there in force tonight.

People can say these are peaceful protests all they want...but two nights of rioting and looting proves otherwise.

They have every right to be there. The freedom to assemble does not have a curfew or times of day when it can be exercised. This is/was the United States of America, We have/had the freedom to travel anytime of day or night without needing permission. We are/were free to gather in group no matter the hour. that is what I was standing up to protect when I said the following when I enlisted

I, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

'Crowd out blocking a street' was something we called protest when I was a some miles from where this is happening in late 2011 with Occupy St Louis.

I saw protesters out there tonight from everything I looked at, who felt provoked. I also saw a response that was geared to confrontation. That fed right into the line of people, which further ramped up the cops.

Now there might be some equivalency in there somewhere, except that I believe the burden of de-escalation (and not conquest over top of) angry citizens comes down on the authority holding the unlimited power of escalation. At least until the citizens move to lethal force ..and a bottle? Really?

So, it's uneven on their shoulders, or more properly, some commanders shoulders for this mess tonight. The cops probably just did what a plan called for. Who planned this thing?

Last night? Mixed... First night? Looters and a "gimmie stuffs!". Tonight? Well, the worst thing is, their anger might just be righteous too. We don't know, and paramilitary level force with tactics sure isn't calming a thing.

That's been a thing for a long time. In certain situations where it's not safe to have actual EMS go in these guys are trained in both roles. Usually with SWAT teams.

Ah, thanks! I usually check MB after Vice, but.... came over here to cry wolf first.

Never seen that before in the years of reading them. But, as tonight has proved in so many ways.... There's a first time for everything.
