Raw video just uploaded from the local FoxNews Affiliate. The reporter tweeted that the police initiated the action, no bottles were thrown, the protestors remained peaceful.

I'm pretty sure bottles were thrown. I watched the "live feed". WE ARE SCREWED BECAUSE WE WONT DO ANYTHING.

Anyone know what started this whole charade?

Good coverage just released by Newsweek;
How America’s Police Became an Army: The 1033 Program

As many have noted, Ferguson, Missouri, currently looks like a war zone. And its police—kitted out with Marine-issue camouflage and military-grade body armor, toting short-barreled assault rifles, and rolling around in armored vehicles—are indistinguishable from soldiers.

America has been quietly arming its police for battle since the early 1990s.

Faced with a bloated military and what it perceived as a worsening drug crisis, the 101st Congress in 1990 enacted the National Defense Authorization Act. Section 1208 of the NDAA allowed the Secretary of Defense to “transfer to Federal and State agencies personal property of the Department of Defense, including small arms and ammunition, that the Secretary determines is— (A) suitable for use by such agencies in counter-drug activities; and (B) excess to the needs of the Department of Defense.” It was called the 1208 Program. In 1996, Congress replaced Section 1208 with Section 1033.

Oh goody...we don't even need police anymore. Great idea. Glad you shared that. I'm solid though. But thanks for caring.

twitter working fine here in Aus,

#Ferguson trending number 1
#MikeBrown number 3

Maybe just not working in the US?
If this is the case, we can officially QUIT overthrowing oppressive regimes all over the world-- our leaders no longer stand for the freedoms they boast of.

yep, I can confirm that Twitter is fine in Australia and is updating normally. They are just blocking you guys.

although i just had my Gf put the link up on facebook and it was sent to the bottom of her news feed,we got here brother to search for it and he found it buried away,no shares no likes,he tried to share it..no go..and the link wouldnt work for him..so there is some censorship going on here in aus

May have found more censorship. Was reading Vice, and apparently a fresh Ferguson story has been pulled. Link active, all text of article removed.

Here's a pic of the link to story on homepage of Vice:

This Phony 'Anonymous' Site Was Set Up to Trap Ferguson Hacktivists
Opferguson.com is not what it seems. It collects the IP addresses of whoever logs on. This information, according to the creator, a self-avowed Anonymous opponent, is then open for law enforcement to act upon.

This looks like one of the first engagements.. Maybe the same one? It carries from well before to well afterward. it's from the KARG Argus Radio (local station?) youtube channel.

They have shorter clips but this is a full 25 minutes to carrying well after into the neighborhood by what I could skip through on my rural net connection.

Please look at 8:57 and 9:02 in that video.

First bottle thrown from the crowd and then second. The police respond as soon as the second bottle is in the air.

Do people really expect the police to just stand there and get hit with bottles?

Des, I felt the tension too. From the safety of my own den. I feel somewhat guilty about that. Imagine what those people who were there in sincere protest of what happened to one of their own.

Yes, I know there was looting the night before, but witnesses said cops did nothing to stop it. Instead, they pull up in riot gear and gas folks exercising their right to assemble.

Oh, somebody threw a bottle at their tank?

Overreact much, riot police? :\

confirmed ferguson hashtag selectively disabled on both twitter and fb. oddly enough, rt too (according to some).

i'm scanning for alternative hashtags that folks might be switching over to, coming up dry so far.
