Sure. But why invite trouble? When this flies in the face of all logic and protocol?

These diseases you mentioned got out partly because people displayed a similar lackadaisical attitude, and spread they did. Now you're getting the idea.

Good luck with that attitude. Don't travel. wear a mask, and spend the whole day scrubbing the sink and toilet. Don't you know, a little dirt is good for you...

Depends on your interpretation of 'trouble'. Guess I'll be a bit of a 'Bad Boy' and store my ammo for genuine concerns.

They didn't land an ebola patient in Oz, now, did they? Yeah save that "ammo."

Don't embellish what I'm saying.

I'm talking about simple sanitation that should be followed every day if you even want to avoid catching a cold or herpes. Hand-washing is not the same as quarantining yourself. And that's exactly the problem: for people like you, there's no space between simple precautions and total panic. You're acting like everyone should go lick each other for the good of their immune systems. Sorry, but ebola is stronger than your immune system. And if there's an international outbreak (such as a victim dying in freaking Morocco now) then chastising people who advise to take basic safety precautions as if they're Chicken Little only serves to help spread the disease.

No, I'm on the third floor of my palatial home and work so hard to pay for it I rarely have the time or energy to delve anymore. This was always concerning but hits a bit close to home now.

The Australian doctor at the front line of the battle to contain the global Ebola virus outbreak

Cheers.

You know. I'm going to call BS on this transport.

I no longer believe this was him.

As anticipated, an American patient with Ebola virus infection has been transferred from an overseas location to a special isolation facility in Emory University Hospital for treatment. After ambulance transfer from Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, Ga., the patient arrived at Emory University Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 2 at approximately 12:30 p.m. ET.

This special isolation unit was previously developed to treat patients who are exposed to certain serious infectious diseases. It is physically separate from other patient areas and has unique equipment and infrastructure that provide an extraordinarily high level of clinical isolation.

Link.

Does this look special to you?

Did they forget to make the ingress/egress special?

Freakin' gravel and piled lumber??? No police escort on the road? They just let him walk on his own? Only one guy assisting?

No.

This was THEATER.

If you look at Google maps, there's a helipad right above.

My money is on that he was already transferred or will be transferred by some other means. I'm convinced what we saw wasn't it.

Another person that thinks only Americans practice hygiene. Guess what, you are rated #27 in the world. Your best doctors are saved for the elite, or the 2nd mortgage on your house.

I totally agree.

They kept saying on CNN they expected him to be choppered from Dobbins to Emory, but they chose the land route. Why?

They're covering an awful LOT of ground with this transport, never even mind the doing it twice bit.

Cartersville to Liberia to Marietta to Atlanta back to Cartersville back to Liberia back to Marietta and to Atlanta then back to Cartersville.

ETA: I forgot...a GRADY ambulance. Doesn't Emory, the class 4 biohazard place have an ambulance for same?!

And not to harp on it, but WHO would tell the terrorists the route for 24 hours? And we were talking about rehearsals here when low and behold all of a sudden Dr Gupta on CNN started to too.

Even the three CNN anchor people questioned for close to a good hour whether that was even him.

ETA: Good angle on those shots. Thanks.

Another ETA: There was sort of a police escort. I think I saw Altanta or maybe Emory PD trucks near Emory But not really visible here...that red car and the sharp turn? I just dunno.

The World of Coke (Coca-Cola museum i call it) where on any day you may meet people from 15 different countries. Not to mention the "tasting room" where people try free samples and leave used cups laying around (saliva). I just don't see any good ever coming out of this.

OMG!

I'm never touching Coke Cola products again!!!
What other foods and drinks come from Atlanta, Georgia?

EXACTLY!!!! So where do you get the notion that because this is the US, there's no risk of it spreading? If there's a risk, why not tell people to take the best safety precautions they can? Why downplay the risk when it's a FACT that the US healthcare system in is shambles in many ways? I mean, pick one argument: either our sanitation procedures suck and there's a very real risk of it spreading, or we are so advanced that there's little risk of it spreading. ZERO healthcare facilities in the US take the kind of precautions this doctor did when working with his ebola patients, so it stands to reason that we need to warn people that *they* need to take responsibility for their own sanitation and health.

The whole ting is farcical. Looks good on television. Put people in hazmat suits and repeat 'ebola'. If you want to get your underwear in a bundle about it and go with the hype...
