Not only does it make no sense, but why double their risk by bringing them here, ONE at a time?! The CDC chartered a medivac jet that was only capable of transporting one patient at a time.

What, in anyones' opinion with ANY common sense is already a HUGE risk, they double that risk by making the trip TWICE?!

I am fit to be tied. This whole mess has me twisted in knots because I have seen how healthcare workers can be careless, lazy, and in the wee hours of the morning when they think no one is looking, they let standard precautions fly out the window and door!

Most of all, I am sick, because the doctors in my hospital commute to and from emory, and vice versa. If IT happens, I won't be at ground zero, but zero.one.

I am just beside myself with anxiety.

21 days and counting. And I thought about wearing a mask, but at this point, I may end up stripping at the door and washing everything, including my shoes, then immediately taking a shower.

I have even considered that we MAY have had some "secret" cases already, because we have had several patients the last several months die from "bleeding out". We were told they were "just DIC". Looking back now, wow... who is to even say?!

Exactly. This has a horrifying potential on so many levels. And we may be among the only (relatively) few nutters paying this any attention.

And again I swear CNN and others are reading this all and adjusting the script.

I can tell you that this Ebola outbreak in west Africa is worse than what the World Health Organization has seen in 40 years.

This outbreak is extremely serious, and the worse part is that health authorities are not taking all the necessary precautions. Everyone that has been in a flight, or any type of contact with one of the infected patients should be isolated alongside anyone else these people had contact with.

I know this sounds inhumane but that is not my intention. There is no vaccine for Ebola, patients can only be treated with fluids and supportive care and despite this Ebola has a 90% mortality rate.

Even though the incubation period of Ebola is 2-21 days it is also known that men can pass the virus in their semen 7 weeks post infection.

Let's hope it does not turn for worse than it already has.

Yep, it could, but bitchin' n crying about it on ATS isn't ever going to fix it.
Face it folks, this is out of an average persons control, it is a species/life war which will take its course.
Fear and doom just causes adrenaline dumps to the more neurotic members of ATS so I would prescribe a nice cup of tea to chill out lol

Lg, can you stay away? I'm being serious.

Also, did you catch the pics of how they drove in and took turns, too. And the bit about the person posting here that there might be a case in Ohio? The plane started in Cartersville and went back there today to prep for the second trip. But then landed at Dobbins.

And they didn't chopper him to Emory (if it was him). Like let's just cover as much ground as we can and leave enough doubt about source (Cartersville, Dobbins, Emory).

Just DIC. Wow.

Does the CDC send a lot of patients Emory's way?

Yep. And they're making a HUGE deal about it jumping countries and then they jump it on purpose. Illogical.

I'm suppose to be in panic, but you're making me laugh with that last part of your post.

Back on topic, what I want to know is was that Brantly or not that we saw? And if it wasn't him then does that mean that he was already inside the hospital all that time or what?

Personally? I find it illogical that it was him. Too many terrists running around and (as I've said here ad nauseum) them broadcasting his entire route for over 24 hours? Doesn't make sense.

what makes anyone think a teaching hospital with likely non-english speaking housekeeping, janitors paid minimum wage, etc., will follow chain of command custody on soiled goods to the incinerator all of the time. It's not realistic, and it won't happen.

What do you think they might do, rub the sheets over their mouths and take them home as free bed linen for minimum wage workers or something?
Neurotic much?

Seriously? How about you ask the guy in the motorized scooter, with the oxygen tank, that was caught putting needles in meat at the local grocer? He did it "for the hell of it. Hell, I didn't wanna hurt no one."

There are deranged people in this world. There are people that would get a sick thrill out of being the one secretly behind releasing Ebola in the US. People that would gleefully rub their hands together in joy, knowing THEY were the ones that "started it all". Call me anything you wish, it fazes me not, because that is what is called living in the real world. There are sick, sick people out there.

One only need look back in history at medicine tampering, and all other sorts of episodes to understand this. In such a notorious case as this, a person seeking infamy would live for the ability to be able to have this opportunity.

Even people in medicine have been known to engage in causing medical emergencies, all the way down to outright murdering people, so they could call codes and "play the hero", so you can take your snide remarks and quite frankly, shive them.

Talk about the topic. Not me.

Not to mention that people on weird drug cocktails panic and freak out all the time and IVs get pulled and things and people get flung.

Actually it is not out of your personal control. Stop playing a hollywood movie in your head. This is not a virus that will destroy the planet. Mellow down.

No, I wish I could. I have vacay coming, but not until the end of September. Then, I am off for 12 days. I am not watching it, because I read a post on how they were following the ambulance and zooming in on it. For heaven's sake. It's just a good thing nothing happened.

No enlightenment claimed on my part, just thoughts that fear serves no purpose in situations that we are unable to change ourselves.
I wonder how many less pages most threads would have if every sentence/paragraph/post had the doom comments removed?
