'Science' gets it wrong often, BUT embraces the new information and adapts appropriately.
Religious zealotry on the other hand does not.

So one who believes God is a religious zealot? But one who believes something as imperfect as science somehow has there answer to all knowledge and understanding in existence, and the universe? Of all that Is..and isn't?

Is this the best logic Atheism can offer?

Because the power of religion threatened the control of the tyranical regimes.
Which bit of that do you not understand?

The Church of England is an established legal part of the government of the UK, does that mean Anglican Christians by default support say, military action the UK carries out? No, obviously.
Your reasoning is almost child-like.

Again, child-like reasoning, tut tut.
Now, back onto atheist equals commie if you please or I shall suspect you are just trolling.

You might as well give up. This discussion isn't going anywhere, and the user you are talking to is the reason this thread happened in the first place. Nothing will be achieved here except the understanding that some battles are not worth fighting.

It is a good opportunity for others to see how ridiculous some theists claims are.
I am satisfied to see that he/she is pretty much alone with such thoughts now though due to the lack of support for his/her claims.
Perhaps there are more who think such things but clearly on ATS they are not confident of raising their case here.
That pleases me, and when I hear such rubbish in the future I can simply refer the poster/s to this thread.

I agree, why should I give a toss about anyone's particular flavour of belief in invisible things.
I put claims of gods in the same category of pixies, elves, boogymen, ghosts, fairies, monsters and all the rest of it. All books claimed to be 'holy' are just that, claims by believers. If you don't believe it is just a book.
I'd happily roll a cigarette out of a page from any 'holy' book if I had no papers left. I don't believe it to be holy, it's not my problem if that offends you.

Do you believe in oxygen? it's a Scientific fact that it exists, but you can't see, smell or feel it, can you?

Um, we can detect it. Using, you know, science. There's a massive lack of evidence for the existence of god.

Who created mankind's ability to understand science?

No one did. Evolution did that. And the idea that our understanding was somehow divinely inspired or configured is ridiculous by virtue of the methods we used to cultivate that understanding.

Isn't scientifically possible that Almighty God creates through Evolution?

I think that you're making the mistake of thinking that current forms of life are some kind of perfection, including humanity. We're not - we're all transitory forms in some shape or form. And by the way - you can't link science with god. It doesn't work. Science is testable. 'God' is not.

Ah, but you're being logical and the likes of Ricky struggle with that.
If just one person reads this thread and realises how ridiculous Ricky's claims are it could save them from religious brainwashing in the future.
That would satisfy me.

Atheist Communists are the brainwashers, no doubt. Just ask Joseph Stalin and Karl Marx.

Well, I'm pretty sure there are no atheist communists here. Just atheists. Although maybe we should be keeping a closer eye on the Christians around here, in case they turn into Nazis. I hear the Nazis were really big on Christianity.

Hmm, yes, using Ricky's reasoning an argument could be made for Christian equals Nazi.
...and when you consider the leaders of the Catholic church (priests) raping kids, one could have suspicions of Catholics as well, but that would be pretty stupid reasoning as well.

Off topic Ricky, tut tut.
Please stick with your ridiculous atheist/commie silliness.

...and there is no hoax with a lack of belief in gods, as you know.

As are theist nazis, but that doesn't tar Christians as likely to be nazis.

Do you think most folk of the Islamic faith are drawn towards suicide bombing? I don't.

Oh, so atheism is a hoax now? I guess I'm just such a brilliant con man that I can't even see through my own BS, but I can see through yours. Well, I guess that's my cue to bail on this circus and find some other diversion to occupy myself with. Thanks for the laughs.

Erm, the Russian Orthodox Church wasn't banned from operating during the history of the Soviet Union. So much for those evil old atheists.

I'm not interested in anything you want to share from the BBC or anywhere else regarding 'militant atheism'.
This topic is about religious zealots claims that lack of belief in gods equates to a socialist/communist tendancy.

I shall ask nicely again, please stay on topic or I shall consider you an annoying troll intent on tarnishing reasoned debate.

The video documentary explains documented world history that has a direct atheism and communism connection. That is the topic, no?
