That said I don't think he's a racist. Just an uneducated old man. Who probubally couldn't afford the grazing fees ( that he rightfully owed) but didn't wanna lose his cattle herd.

Agreed. Ignorant he is. He is certainly entitled to his opinions, whatever they are, and has every right to express them. However, people really shouldn't be surprised or outraged from the backlash, since free speech works both ways. And Bundy is the one derailing his own cause here. The original issue had zero to do with race. He's the one who brought a total red herring into the whole thing. he should have just kept the whole focus on the feds and their shady behavior, and he'd have no problems.

The biggest problem ranchers have with him is that he is making an issue of not paying his grazing fees. For those that grew up in ranching families and understand the economics of grazing commercial cattle on public lands they hate it when the rates paid get press exposure.

Grazing is essential and lets a rancher raise more cattle than his land alone would allow. The rates paid are extremely reasonable - not that you will get many to admit that in writing lol.

A bigger issue than him NOT paying his grazing fees is the exposure grazing fees are getting.

Ranchers hate that.

(And make no mistake about it, Bundy is 100% about not paying his bill. Period. )

Obviously, Mr. Bundy didn't get the memo about the words being equivalent. His dictionary probably reads the same as mine: Negro--a member of the darkest-skinned, or black, race. It has no negative connotation as it is the commonly-accepted name used in science for the race.
Have you no idea of the range of diverse cultures present in our country? Is your sole view of US culture the one presented to you by advertisers? You need to get out of the house more and talk with people in real life. Listen to people in real life. Really listen. Hear what they are concerned about.

Merriam Webster seems to understand the word a little different , me I am not offended by Negro as easily others might be though, especially if it is coming from an 80 or 90 year old person, he even used colored, I've heard older people that were probably around in the 40's that are not white using Negro but not really meaning anything derogatory.
Anyhow the dictionary I read does seem to caution that the word is sometimes offensive so you are not fully correct if you want to use a dictionary to validate the word as not being offensive.

I am part native American too so I would also want to know that, at least you seem to understand an even bigger problem, than many, but I think the gist of it, especially for me , I knew that as soon as he started in on people getting welfare, I knew that he receives farm subsidies, which to me, if you receive a penny of subsidy money it does not matter you are getting public assistance, you are benefiting from a social program, so to use a cliche, the pot calling the kettle black is just low in taste and the truly educated people don't buy that bitter potion he is trying to sell, nor would they attempt to even defend it.

Good one, like I said I am not as easily offended, the saddest is that most of the people that I know that people think are black are usually 1/4 to 1/2 every other gene than Africa, but here is the thing, the chessboard has two colors, and that is the game that is in play, we all know that there is so much more than Black and white but some are forced to choose a square and be categorized unfortunately by the closest pigment, I have said this before this thread, that is the only thing I can agree with based on the video posted, I just think that the old thinking and stereotyping that people continue to partake in keeps the fuel on the fire of divisiveness, I would really like to know if this fool offered up his comments or did some reporter ask him to set him up.

If he pays taxes, then isn't those 'public/federal/state lands' his as well as the rest of the communities? Does his cows not poo? They fertilize the lands. does he get paid for freely fertilizing the land? Should not these actions both cancel each other out in fees? Does the cows grazing and freely traveling about a cost or more importantly an injury to anyone? Is there some federal park ranger picking up cow poo because of it? Do they take money from the federal gardeners for not allowing them to mow the land? The cows taking their jobs? I don't see why anyone has to pay unless they're using someone's private lands. It's as absurd as paying toll roads. How can one peacefully assemble if one can not freely travel in one's own country? You might say, "The roads need repairing and what not though," but I'll gladly wager that many of us in the US in different cities know certain roads that have yet to be fixed in years! Although the same roads, that aren't even broken, keep being 'repaired'. Do you not see the ponzi schemes going on? The governments are supposed to represent the people and obviously do what's best for them. Ranchers pay fees to graze their cattle on public land. They use that feed to enhance the value of their commercial herd.

All ranchers that graze on public land agree to pay for the use of that land.

Bundy is not paying his bills. Period.

The fact that a number of different groups have co-opted his public fight and have their own agendas has nothing to do with him not paying his bills.. Listen, no ranchers are fans of the BLM or the Federal or State agencies.

As with all things, follow the money. He is raising his cattle on public land and not paying his bills. Period.
