Sorry, but I have to remain highly skepical on this topic.

Why would the governmet allow for a movie, and six seasons of a TV series (one of the best) to show on Sci-Fi, that's a little risky.

It would take all legitmacy out of any claims that the US or another country has tech like this (even though my belief is even if we have found a 'stargate' we are still too primitive to make it work) anything that appears on any Sci-Fi program is 'almost' immediately dismissed by the mainstream public since they believe if its in a SCIFI program then it cannot be real...

BTW Wormholes are still highly Theoretical, and according to leading Physists we are thousands of years away from mastering them...

i've always enjoyed the idea of an ancient society that built such a stargate and that one day men could find it. wether or not this said stargate is in control of som govt. much less the iraqi's (even if they did find it, well the US would be lucky to survive a hostile encounter with an alien race, the iraqi's would hold less of a chance) as for the fact wether such tech could exist, well its just improbable, not impossible. here's to hoping that such a system exists and that one day we can find it and live inharmony with the ppls of the universe, or if the others are like us, well then lets hope never to find said device for a very long time.

i don' know for sure but maybe one day we'll be ready.

If Stargate was real they'd have to send in men with Moon suits similar to the ones we will have to use on Mars!

The TV series is not at all what a USAF team would be like.

Stargate is a fun TV series but someday it could come true, if they learn wormhole technology and Transporter knowledge.

as i said, chances are said system isn't on earth. the usaf team, well it reminded me of usaf spec ops (trust me you meet a few of those guys and you'll understand where i'm coming from) but i don't belive we'd have fond it. i also don't belive that little quip about sadam having it. if anyone would have it it be vatican city. they have all sorts of wierd ancient oopa's floating around in thier basements. mainly because it was the original conspiracy breeding ground. but as i said, we wouldn't know how to use it and if the world would know well it wouldn't end to well. as for the tv show. i hope atlantis (the spin off) doesn't kill it. and i hope the cont. the original story line. i'm enjoying that tomuch. and well go to vatican city and explore its catacombs. you'll find some really fun out of place artifacts (sorry asumed at first ppl knew what an oopa was) whether or not they're in use. well thats anotherstory. i'm working on a new thread. i'll put it up when i'm done with my art and i've checked all my facts.

I just want to point out that I neither I nor Sciencegirl ever claimed that the Iraqis had already found the stargate. I only pointed out that German archaeologists were excavating the ruins of Uruk in sw Iraq beginning in 2002, and were possibly looking for ET technology there.

Also, if it makes people feel better, perhaps we should refer to the device a as hyperspace/extra-dimensional gateway, an interstellar transportation unit, or even a doorway to heaven, rather than a stargate.

just pointing out the obvious on my part but is that what stargate is. a technology that opens up wormholes, and also called on various ocasions in the show, the door to heaven((by the ppls on the planets anyway))don't see anything wrong with continuing to call it a stargate. but ok, i'm all for calling it a hyperspace bypass....

Well ... the website was created as a focal point for a Role Playing Game based on Stargate SG-1, you can contact the GM (Game Master) for further information.

I was wondering whether anyone had info on that !

I've met some of the crew that works on Stargate/Stargate Atlantis. I've been to the talks by the actors and by the writers and producers.

It's. Not. Real.

It's science fiction. They're making it up and extrapolating from some science (wormholes.) Science fiction always likes to take current cutting edge theories in science and add them as plot points to stories, so they can do interesting things with the story.

But it's not real. Writers make this stuff up. They have great imaginations. In 10 years, Stargate will look as dated as "The Jetsons" cartoon series.

anitpig, that was not science fiction, it was enginnering fiction. The physics did permit such devices to exist but it was an engineering difficulty. The physics for a stargate has not yet been proven let alone acknowledged. So what I am saying is not far off the wall.

In my reasearch, I have come across some bizarre and interesting combinations of seemingly unrelated events and themes of the "fortean" kind...

One interesting thread I came across by way of google involved the possible existence of a Stargate device under cheyenne mountain and the involvment of one Lt. Col. Mike Aquino, coincidentally a former high priest of Lavey's Church O' Satan and himself founder of the Temple of Set. He himself makes veiled statements on usenet about blackops research into mass mind control at Jefferson Airplane concerts and the band being granted access to the Stargate facility for research purposes, being escorted by Aquino...

google something like stargate aquino and try google groups...it's there, I just to busy to track down the post...interesting stuff.

Aquino is somewhat of an enigma....All charges were dropped against he and his wife, although the whole Presidio/Mcmartin Preschool scandal smells like a total whitewash/coverup...The existence of a tunnel network under the school was seemingly proven by an archaelogical study...not to mention some 2 or 3 kids were proven to somehow have contracted a sexually transmitted disease.....something definetly happened....

I think Ted Gunderson is still actively engaged in getting the real story out there....although Aquino does a good job of defending himself, the point is there are some really weird connections to Stargate type concepts and wacky religious movements like SRA, Heaven's gate, etc...

Also, isn't it unusual how the SCI-fi channel's main program is Stargate SG1 moreso than any other...I think it's pretty cheesey myself....

the concept of stargates is science fact not fiction we just dont have enough tecnology to create one. a thousand years ago we couldnt go to the bottom of the ocean and now we can. in another thousand years we probobly will have gates
whats to say that there arent aliens thousands of years ahead of us which have created gates on all planets sustaining life?????????

there is no real stargate.... if the Movie or TV series wasnt around there probably most likely wouldnt be an article about this. Seriously. The writers are just pulling your leg.

Star gates, are certainly very plausible, in fact the only theoretical viable means of interstellar travel that does not violate the light barrier. As someone mentioned earlier, there is some whistle-blower evidence of trans-dimensional and time-travel experimentation. It would not be entirely far-fetched if there were existing star-gates on the planet, and one of them was in Urak, Iraq. However, it would be naive to believe so, as the evidence is only speculative.

So I am going to side with the skeptics on this one, until there is not evidence, we should only treat this as a speculative exercise.
