The largest though is push atheism, ridicule and run christian off,

Really? Who exactly would pay for this? The atheist groups I'm aware of have very little money to spend (they can't just pass a basket around like the churches do, pretending that the money is for 'god',) and there's plenty of pro-atheist and anti-religion posters out there who are authentic and don't need to be paid to post their opinions.

Methinks some people just get a tad bit paranoid when there's people out there with a diametrically opposed point of view.

The real question here is, 'how to combat this'? Once you see it (I like to check and see when the posters usually post; do they put in a regular 8 hour day and not post on weekends? Looks like a lunch break in the middle of it? Hmmmm...) what can you do about it except ignore them?

I really think sites such as this need an 'ignore' button; one for being able to ignore any given poster just on the basis of they raise your blood pressure to unsafe levels; the other that if enough people hit 'ignore' they're automatically banned for being jackasses, shills or worse.

Kinda an internet version of 'a society where everyone wears a gun is a polite society.'

I expect this from my country, lol, I mean nothing they do surprise me lol.

What I hate more than anything is when you get these guys from Iran and other countries who come in to push their agenda and try to manipulate us. It is so infuriating lol. Or to hear them go on and on to defend muslim radicals.

Ridiculous...

Yeah, and there's no way this system could be abused, right?

Especially not by the shills...

You make a good point, Alice.

Some are bound to take this thread as proof that all debunkers are paid agents. Still, I'd rather the ATS community be paranoid than a gullible.

AliceBleachWhite

The more you "like" something, the more suspicious or cautious one should be in vetting the information.

That's the take-away.

I'm not touching any one of these links.

I was linked to the story via another site and it froze my computer.

Another link I clicked tried to run a script that was blocked by my add on. If it didn't happen who knows what kind of bot could've infected my computer.

I have no doubt the stories are true but this leaking of info could be the ultimate false flag, like the 'honey trap' the operation mentions.

They are onto this story and will be watching it closely.

Now everyone here thinks that anyone who ever disagrees with what they are saying about anything could be a government shill.

edit on 25-2-2014 by PhoenixOD because: (no reason given)

Where did you get that idea? that's anathema to debate.

bluestorm
real life examples can been seen in the chemtrail geo engineering forums, obvious Covert Agents Infiltrating every discussion on that forum for years..

Chemtrail supporters instantly, and always accuse anyone that disagrees with them as being shills. This thread alone had 4 people doing it, that I counted, and I skipped some posts. If I had to guess of one group being shills I'd say it's chemtrail supporters, because without fail every single last time they post, they accuse others of being shills, and and never once have ever responded to a single question I have asked. Not once.

For all you people, thinking you are so special because someone disagreed with you on an internet forum, guess what? Some people, like me, just get pissed off when they see people posting garbage with zero thought. You ask questions about what they post, they refuse to answer at all, or they just insult you. I will never, ever refuse to debate someone point-for-point. I will address every single last issue they raise. Yet I am NEVER given that same respect when attempting to debate. And then I get called a shill.

The real shills would be supporters of 911 conspiracy, and everything else. You don't subvert a movement by saying it's stupid and arguing against it. You subvert a movement by getting INSIDE IT and making your fellow compatriots look stupid BY YOUR ACTIONS. You become a leader of the 911 truth movement, steer their conversation into ridiculous areas, then bam it looks foolish to most people. I've had the 911 forum on ignore for years now because it's just garbage after garbage.

You wanna subvert anything? JOIN IT. Then tear it apart from the INSIDE. THAT is how governments operate.

They don't just sit there and argue against you, and tell you you're wrong.

Please, please, wake up people.

Jesus christ read a little about the cold war, this stuff isn't new folks. Only you seem to be.

This is just a huge mess to be honest. Maybe that was their goal all along, not any specific operation, just create such massive confusion and distrust that nobody believes anything or they believe everything.

something like this will simply make the fringe posters of ATS even that more kooky,

The opinion as to who is being logical in any subject and discussion is not black and white. You have your opinion of who is logical and my logic may be (sure it is) quite different than yours!

This is the kind of words I hate. Fringe simply means they are not following blindly in everyone else's footsteps. That is seen as a good thing for many who want to join a "fringe topic" website and learn about subjects not discussed on mainstream news.

I agree with a lot of what you say, but there is a big difference at play..

Those typically seen as "kooks" refuse to actually debate the topic. Ever. They just parrot stuff from youtube videos. They show no deeper understanding of the subject matter. Their unwillingness to debate point-for-point proves this.

You aren't new here, you have to notice the difference. You invest half an hour writing up a post debating their statement, and then they reply with two lines calling you a shill or a sheep. Par for the course. It gets old. Really, really old. And as a real person, with real emotions, knowing that the goal of true shills is usually to rile folks up, it really does cause me to wonder about those who push "fringe" theories. At least judging by the behavior here on ATS that they display.

Bollocks. You can perfectly well subvert a movement by arguing against it. The tobacco industry has done it for decades against the existing evidence, often by calling for more research, which made the movement turn in circles.

The links posted in the OP have been used as sources plenty of times on ATS before without issue. I used Securi Site Check to scan for malware scripts and all the links came back negative. I even double-checked with SOSWebScan and the links are all clean.

While the scans can never be 100% perfect or guaranteed, you are still responsible for your own PC security.

Carry on.

What I find interesting about this document is, why are intelligence agencies so concerned with conspiracy theory forums? You would think that since none of what we're saying is true or has any merit, then they wouldn't have to give us any credence. They obviously know that what we're saying is relevant, and that they have to keep a close eye on us. Of course, not all of it is relevant, but enough for them to want to keep us close to them.

That'd be my guess. If somebody wanted to safely inject something into the public discourse in a (relatively) anonymous fashion, then a conspiracy forum would be the logical choice. It even offers free plausible deniability because, well, it's a conspiracy forum and "everybody knows" that conspiracy theorists go to sleep wearing tin foil hats. So, you bet, some very real issues and more get discussed on a conspiracy forum. However, because it does, it can be safely compartmentalized or removed as needed.

REALLY? How can any of this be new to any one here? I can't count the number of threads that I have read here about this very subject. All the back and forth about how politics is manipulated, the news, corporate America, Big Pharma, the Medical Complex, the news, on and on and on.

I suppose because it is an "Official" leak it made it so?

I remember the first time that I heard the term "Shock and Awe". I knew immediately that it was code for.....We are about to tie your brains and hearts up into little knots, so you can't navigate your day without us.

I see more knots being tied in this very thread. You are still being manipulated. When this kind of thing doesn't matter to us anymore, the dark magicians cease to exist, and you become your own magician.

The idea of paid shills lurking on the net is nothing new indeed. I suspected as much for years, as did many people. I'm not the least bit surprised.

The evidence of paid shills lurking on the net, however, is an unprecedented and shocking discovery. It is confirmation. Now it cannot merely be discounted as paranoid ramblings and ridiculed, as it was even on this forum. This is big news, and it should be making big waves.

If the headline read "Live Bigfoot Captured : Zoologists Astounded", would you be saying "Meh, this is nothing new, we've known about Bigfoot since the fifties"?

Forgive me ... I didn't read the thread. Not sure if this was mentioned.

Wikipedia is dealing with a 'corporate aspect' of this self-same issue. I've always found it easy to determine which subjects were believable and which were biased. The 'open' discussion is admirable. Caveat emptor?

Already knew this. I also already knew that companies do it to sway opinion on their products. I used to work for a company that had a team of 5 people that did nothing but try and affect PR over many sites even Usenet and IRC. So yeah it's been going on in government and corporations for a very long time. The company I worked for I know did it from 2000 - 2002 when I moved on to another job. I know now you can actually hire people with bot nets to do it. I could reference a source but I will not do it here. Need Facebook friends or likes? No problemo! Need twitter followers? No problem we gotchu! And on and on. There is no conspiracy here only fact. ATS live radio was way off last night saying this didn't exist. I will be happy to PM anyone of them the site that offers these services as proof that they exist.

Thanks. Glad I could be of some help in the thread ... just don't have the time right now to go through a long one. I happened to see it Link yesterday, and found it odd after so much discussion here on ATS. Makes one wonder about the breadth of an effort to control what information looks like. Even where I work there's an effort to control the presentation of our image.

I can't imagine the manpower behind a scaled up version from where I sit. Kind of pathetic how a little lie could be blown up like a balloon.

Looking through the hoax forum I can see this to be true.

Oh wait, that's not what the OP was trying to show.

So where are all these agent's threads in the hoax forum? We throw all sorts of rubbish in there. Yet no government shill threads manipulating, deceiving..
