I'm not so sure about that. Here's another video and he's not pretending to be religious as far as I can tell and he's saying the sun orbits the Earth. At 5 minutes into the video he cites Ecclesiastes 1:5 in support of the geocentric model and he seems completely serious to me.

The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.

The Fixed Earth [Everything rotates around the Earth, NOT the other way around]

I believe in heliocentrism but I still talk about "sunrise" and "sunset" so I don't think such statements support geocentrism. But I don't think he's trolling, I think he's completely serious. He even cites some astronomers in support of geocentrism but he's either taking the quotes out of context or they're wrong because distant galaxies can't orbit the Earth as fast as the Earth rotates. But the old planetarium projectors are based on a geocentric type mechanism, so I suspect that the astronomers were talking about something like that, for which the geocentric model works perfectly fine and their comments would make more sense in such a context.

ATS has turned out to be the most brainwashed, indoctrinated, anti-christian, and intolerant bunch of heathens this world has ever seen. 99% of the commenters on this site are hypocrites and have been crippled by the so called education system. Anyone who believes that we evolved from monkeys or apes has been diluted and indoctrinated.
People who think other people think humans evolved from apes weren't indoctrinated by the education system; they weren't paying attention because that's not what was taught. The idea is maybe some primates including humans had some common ancestors.

A lot of people are going to hell according to your sermon, but this is the shorter version:

I saw my neighbor mowing his lawn on the sabbath and I didn't kill him, so I guess I'm going to hell for letting him live.

Anyone who believes that we evolved from monkeys or apes has been diluted and indoctrinated. Brought up as a nation of God haters it's no wonder this country is going to hell in a hand basket. Every single one of you point the finger at the ignorance of others but forget there's always three more pointing right back at you!!!! You are witnesses against yourselves just as JESUS told the fools 2,000 years ago. Romans 1:18-32 KJV [18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; [19] Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. [20] For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: [21] Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. [22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, [23] And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. [24] Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: [25] Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. [26] For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: [27] And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. [28] And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; [29] Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, [30] Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, [31] Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: [32] Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

You say "Anyone who believes that we evolved from monkeys or apes has been diluted and indoctrinated."

That is not what the theory of evolution states. If that is what you think it means, then you do not understand the theory or you have had it badly explained to you. No one, not even Charles Darwin, thinks we "evolved from monkeys or apes."

And what exactly does "has been diluted" mean?

I don't believe we evolved from Animals, that's a bad question to compare against the sun revolving around the Earth.
I believe another being put us on this planet, for what reason or when I can only guess.

I was pretty disappointed in the video..maybe this, maybe that...

Absolutely no discussion regarding how our interior organs hang .. as though designed for us to be on all fours. This is why we get hernias...our guts are "hangin' wrong"

Nothing about the clavicle. You know, those odd bones above your chest with no particular purpose for a being that walks on 2 feet, but is pretty necessary for a 4 legged being? Apparently their sole purpose now is to be occasionally broken.

There are others. That video was pretty pointless. Nipples? Really?

He was not saying the earth was not spinning we said that the astrological bodies rotate around the earth. Even if you spin the earth in his model it does not change the out come or results of his model.

The earth can spin and still be geocentric at the same time.

Like I said in an earlier post you would have to go outside the container of the universe and observe to know for sure which theory is correct. But as for trying to prove it from earth or anywhere with in the universe it is impossible.

Then you obviously haven't seen much of the world yet.

I personally have never seen so many bible bangers and religious believers concentrated in one place like here, the religious motivated posts HERE surpass anything in volume I've ever seen anywhere else.

To be honest, a prime example would be THIS thread which would've found its hideous and ridiculous end after a page or two anywhere else...ATS is the only place where a thread about whether the Sun revolves around Earth can reach 15 pages and 60 something stars. So.you're clearly wrong.

The Christian religion actually does not authorize anyone to tell someone else they are going to hell, this is just overzealous people whom are making a big mistake for saying it..

It isn't a flaw of religion, instead, it is a flaw in people using judgement towards another when they shouldn't be.
When Christians do this, tell them that Christ never authorized them to say that. And without having that authority and rendering that judgement on anyone is really asking for trouble for themselves. I know this is true.

A National Science Foundation survey offers a sobering reflection of knowledge in today's all-knowing world. Many people really do believe the sun circles the Earth. And more than half don't know that humans evolved from animals.

This bracing statistic comes from a survey of more than 2,200 people conducted by the National Science Foundation.

Fifty-two percent of Americans had no idea that humans evolved from animal species. This may be the 52 percent of people who believe that mayonnaise comes from the mayo plant.

Earth revolves around the sun? 1 in 4 Americans say nope

Wow i can understand that people still dont trust evolution theory as there is holes to it, but still believing that the sun orbits earth?

This is something proven since the 16th century, how it came to be that 1/4 of the population of the country with the biggest military, economy, espionage agency and nuclear weapon stock does not have basic knowledge. is it representative? does 25% of military/government also believe in dark age believes?

I would guess not and even think this is no mistake, Americans are being made dumb on purpose for easier control, this does not happen in any other first world country and such wide spread lack of knowledge can only be instituted from the government.

At least that is what i prefer to think, its not your fault you are being made like this

Fear not Americans.
My gf who is chinese ( i am British) is well known for her chinese pearls of wisdom so i decided to throw this question at her..... Seems a a 1/4 of the usa are not alone. Her answer?
"Of course the sun goes around the earth, everyone in China knows that. We have a saying (insert chinese idiom here about the sun revolves around the earth".

If it was not for our 1 month old baby next to us i would ask her where babys come from. i will leave this till i made 20 posts on ATS then make a thread about the chinese wisdom that has been corrupted with idioms and old wives tales. you will never believe it.

The earth can spin and still be geocentric at the same time.
If he suggested that it wouldn't be as illogical, but that's not what he either said, or showed in his animations. He said "the Earth does not move".

Like I said in an earlier post you would have to go outside the container of the universe and observe to know for sure which theory is correct. But as for trying to prove it from earth or anywhere with in the universe it is impossible.
Not really. If you're riding in a train, and you can see the telephone poles zipping by, you measure the same speed of the telephone poles, as if you were standing at a telephone pole measuring the speed of the train going by. So this disproves the idea you have to be outside the train to know how fast the train is going.

We know the speed of the Earth relative to our universe from the cosmic microwave background blueshift in one direction and redshift in the opposite direction. So from the perspective of our universe, we can use the CMB as a reference to describe virtually all motions in our universe.

What we don't know which we would have to get outside our universe to observe, is whether there are other universes and what relative velocities they might have to each other or to our universe, and we will probably never know that because we can't see outside our universe, but it's not relevant at all to the question of heliocentrism or geocentrism. It is relevant to some multiverse hypotheses however.

Yes, I know. That's what you know and anything that might build up on that, extend it or add a different and already established perspective is automatically wrong. You're viewing a 3-Dimensional object from one side, and ignore all the rest.

I salute to you. Over 29k posts obviously come from somewhere. To reach that one can not consider and contemplate. Sorry for wasting your time!

[edit]
Concerning your last statement. Saying that one is correct and the other one isn't actually implies that one is the absolute. So yes, you have been arguing that the sun is the center of everything. The acceptance of a relative frame of reference concludes an infinite number of such, one of which can be the earth, the sun, or any other point. This makes it obvious that the Heliocentric model is equally complete or incomplete as the Geocentric one. As stated by me in many different way already, and by the linked and quoted articles.
edit on 15-2-2014 by Marsupilami because: (no reason given)

Please. Just stop. You have spent a prolonged period of time making a rather enormous fool of yourself by trying to argue that the Sun revolves around the Earth. That is utter nonsense. Stop trying to out think the room and place yourself on some "I think bigger thoughts than you do" pedestal. Just. Stop. It. Please.
