We have 3 puppy dogs. They are purely joyful to be with.

I hope that after humans either go extinct, or leave the Earth
for the stars and abandon the toxic/depleted planet, that the
puppies in particular get a chance to become something worthwhile
from the standpoint of further evolution.

I am pleased for Burroughs if he has found "closure" but I feel it still has legs.

And that's when it all started to go wrong, eh, Jim...?

No landing gear was apparent, but it seemed like she was on fixed legs.

"Pssssssst, Jim - forget the original statement, just add some insignia and binary codes so that this pony can run for 50 years!"

There is a radio show on the 28th with Jim and Gary, incase you did not know.

More RFI would be fine!

A gluten for punishment then

Ta, Baa.

HOWEVER, if Gazza doesn't immediately ask the all-important question, "So, Jimbo, isn't it true that you DID copy these binary codes from the internet?", then I won't be giving them much of my time.

Gary claims Jim & JohnB were both given six days' leave precisely BECAUSE Jim was so shaken by the encounter.

Where did THAT info come from? Boss Skip Buran, who dismissed the incident as of no importance when the three men returned, said nothing about this iirc. Why didn't Cabansag get special leave, too? Because his statement said they were unwittingly tracking a lighthouse? Or is the special leave comment just BS, and Jim & John were simply... on standard leave?

Predictably, Gary's overview of the RFI conveniently doesn't delineate between early accounts and later embellishments, and even contradicts himself by saying Jim wrote down the codes on 27th Dec 1980, even though the photo of the notebook clearly states "28th Dec 1980". Alternatively, most of the USAF staff there, especially Halt, really were utterly crap at recording dates!

Gary also sticks a knife into Warren whilst warning us to avoid "opportunists"! If nothing else, his site does boast some fine unintentional comedy.

What did you think of Gary's explanations re the alleged copying of the codes from the internet.
I am assuming you have read the explanations which were given about this at the time?

I don't think it's exactly closure. More something that's been proffered, offered or even Hoffered.

I'd like to see your new thread with what you've collated into your opening post, to at least be given the option.

It's not going to be more than a quick 22 page recap. I might also add a video with "Let it Be" playing in the background. And that's the only clue you or anyone else is getting.

Well MM, you certainly have been very busy. I will be curious as to what it is you have found.

Yer lazy, Uhuru, and that's always been the problem; hasn't it?

To be honest, Baa, I lost the will to live looking for them.

Can you summarise? I'd much rather read your own words and views on them.

I'd be giving Dr Green a stern talking to if I was him. Do you think that he bit the hand that fed him and the supply has stopped?

Only 22 pages?

I look forward to it.

Cheers.

I like puppies very much, they are tremendously wriggly. I prefer baby boys for the same reason.

I think that puppies, and dogs, are highly worthwhile already. I don't keep one because it is a huge commitment that I am at this point unable to meet, they're quite high-maintenance as far as pets go. Cats and fish meet my limitations nicely.

I think if we let it get to the stage where the planet is so toxic we can't survive here then I don't think the puppies will do too well either. The Jack Russells might. Little burrowers tend to prevail.

Stumps then? I'm in wait and see mode for the time being. Letting things sink in ready for when Mirageman gives it another stir.

I had a Jack Russell. You are correct.. those things tree bears and bobcats.. they
are digging and survival machines.. wills of iron.

I myself mostly prefer cats.. but my wife was a "package deal" with her dogs..she
had 2. We had a puppy wander into our house 6 months ago and he didn't want to
leave... he's so cute.. and so affectionate.. he stole our hearts..

I think Burroughs is involved with something that means it is better for him to stay out of the public eye for now.

Oh and it depends how big you think each page is and how much white space is left between the lines

As an affectionate tribute to Jimbo, you could frame it all in the style of a notebook.
