I respect the wisdom that the Bible DOES contain.

But about the Bibles god...

Numbers 31:17 & 18

17: "Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. 18: "But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves."

Another happy little verse.

Hosea 13:16

"Samaria shall become desolate, for she hath rebelled against God; they shall fall by the sword, their INFANTS shall be DASHED TO PIECES, and their PREGNANT WOMEN shall be RIPPED OPEN." Hosea 13:16

'Nuff said.

Peace

What will you say/do, if you are wrong about Jesus?

I wouldn't say anything. I wouldn't have to. He would know and understand why I was wrong.

"I respect the wisdom that the Bible DOES contain."---Buddha

Buddha said it all in that line right there. That is all one needs from the Bible. That is the wisdom and virtue that is held within. All the other stuff is mind control. One must take the virtue of that book and run with it. One needs no interpretation, and one needs no exuse. Just one needs.

You See???

I generally don't like joining in on religious discussions, since most of the time the Uber-Christians present everything as 100% proven fact... that said, I don't follow Christianity because: a) I live in Oklahoma, where southern Baptists rule the land; b) I've had a bad experience with southern Baptists c) I've had bad experiences with most Christians in general d) I don't like the general idea behind Christianity... when I break the Bible down into what I see as the translation, god just sounds like a 6-year-old child. By that I mean, "Worship me or I shall banish you to the depths of hell" translates to, "You won't do what I say, so I won't play with you anymore" in 6-Year-Old speak. I don't like following religious beliefs that call for fear to be the leading emotion over the followers, which is what Christianity falls under, no matter how you slice it.
I guess you could label me as 50% Taoist, 50% Buddhist, 100% Jediist

Especially when your a 'Jew'. The baptists simply say that to be Jewishh is wrong. So what does that mean???

What is a Jew???

Is it an Israelite???

Where do you draw the line between the religious aspects of Judaism with the cultural aspects of being of Jewish decent???

If one has Jewish parents does that make them "wrong"???

Or is it the parents fault???

Really I don't get it. How is being Jewish wrong???

For it is passed down, just as all faiths are. That is my point. Is Judaism a faith???

I have been told it is so. Yet is it not a race as well???

Or is that just some lie???

How can races be wrong???

Sounds like your average baptist is prone to hierachical superiority. Yet, is that the teachings that the Lord intended to be passed down to his creations???

If this is so, then most of the Bible is probably true.

Yet it is not. No God is capable of wrath. No God is capable of hate. Those are vices, and not virtues. Gods know no vices. They only knows virtue.

You See???

Those verses that Buddha Cession cited sure didn't sound like Peaches n' Cream to me...

"Rip open the pregnant women, keep those untouched by men for yourselves?" Even Hitler would likely feel dwarfed by God's wrath-filled rants....

To quote someone here...

"Religion has the greatest bullsh*t story ever told. Religion has actually convinced people, that there's an invisable man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do, every moment of every day. And he has a special list of TEN things he does not want you to do! And if you do any, ANY of these TEN things he has a special place, filled with fire and torture and smoke, where he will send you to burn and scream and cry and choke, forever and ever, until the end of time.....But he loves you..."

It's that kind of rhetoric that steered me away from Christianity. Being told how wrong I am, and how full of sin I am and that I am going to hell if I don't do as I'm told. Too much condradiction to be believable.

Being a Christian..........what is so bad about loving all people , kindness, forgiving , doing no harm, ........what is it that you wish to seek in compensation.???
And if...''if'' you truly lived by Christian morals!
What is is that you lost ???

You have lost nothing at all helen. The peobelm is the judging that christians do if you don't believe that Jesus is GOD. I know in my heart that if Jesus was around now he would cring at what has been left in his wake. You can't deny the history of this religion. Jesus was trying to teach a way of life and we have turned it into a religion. We have also turned a symbol of Roman oppression into a symbol "salvation".

In the end if your eart is in the right place I think that you will be in the right place. You can blame Rome for the perversion of Christianity.

Jesus wanted none of what we gave him. His message was just that. His message. Not a religion, just a way of life. Thank you for pointing that out. I thought I was the only who thought that way. Guess I am not alone after all.

I accept the fact that I don't know why I am here or anyone else for that matter.
I don't need a religion to make me feel better, I already feel good.

Therefore, you can't say I don't believe or believe. It's not a part of me. You see, like I said before - I accept the fact that I don't know.

Usually when I say this to someone, they say "But you'll go to hell" That's when I say where is hell? And then they say "down there" LOL Oh yeah, and heaven is "up there"

See, religion isn't only insane, it is funny also.

Jesus Christ taught ''righteousness'' and to love all people ..........
If , let's say 'IF'' I was wrong about Jesus Christ..........what have i lost............in fact, if one is following in what Jesus Christ taught.............then one has done good and has lost nothing....................
one has only achieved good things .................
......................even after death..........if there is no ''after life'', then what has one lost..............Now on the other hand..................What ''if'' all things taught about Jesus Christ being true are truly that...............then what???

Good answers...Good answers...I dont think that if you disobey God or his commandments that you will go to hell...Its like this we are all sinners....even those of us whom are born again and covered in the blood of Jesus.... He knows we all are going to sin and sin and sin again and again...if one is truly sorry and repents, asks for forgiveness...he shall recieve forgivness. It doesnt mean we can do this and that and oh it will just be forgiven....God knows what is in ones heart and in the end it will be known ehat kind of person we were/are. The day Jesus came into me and saved me was a true miracle...no one can tell me it didnt happen....I guess I asked for honest answers and I got them, right? It is a very confusing thing, this religion... I think in these end times we are going to see miracles performed so great and so unimagineable that no one will be able to deny. There will be alot of you converted to christ. Thanks for the opinions and such. And by the way...Im not trying to judge anyone...Im just trying to get you thinking. Its working i think...................Believer

Abstract...........
Religion................it is not considered a 'religion'' it is ''the 'way, the truth, the life'' for all of mankind........
Religion has been distorted into something that it originally was not...........it has become '''power to man'' and not Glory to God............Man has wanted power to become God and therefore has distorted the truth into 'man's ' power on earth..........

Christianity is the truth............and people will always find ways to bring it down............believers and non-believers , because they have lost the true meaning behind'''Love your enemies'' ''
''Do good to those that do you harm'''
We allow ourselves to follow ''man's'' given word and not the words of God ..........whom said ........''I am not of this world'''................
and so Abstract, to allow our thinking to be that of man';s revelation and not of God , we all fall into a trap set up by the Devil himself..............that he will take all mankind with him because he knows he is going to hell that was originally prepared for him and his demons.........

It was the noted author C. S. Lewis who formulated the following contention: To be intellectually honest, a person must chose one of three opinions about Jesus Christ, 1) Lord, 2) liar, 3) lunatic. Those are the only three options of opinion (Lord, liar, or lunatic). Large portions of the Old Testament deal with messianic prophecy. Jesus Christ claimed to be the fulfillment of that prophecy and there can be no mistake that He meant anything else. He was on trail because "he made himself the Son of God". All Jesus had to do was say, "Whoa - I never claimed to be the Son of God, I am just a man". He would have walked. Hence Jesus was crucified because He said that he was the Son of God.
This leaves three options 1) Jesus was really the Son of God (Lord), 2) Jesus knew He was not the Son of God but still laid claim to being the Son of God (liar), or 3) Jesus was not the Son of God but thought He was (lunatic).

Unfortunately a lot of people on both sides of the issue concerning Jesus Christ (Christians and non-believers)seem to miss the point of what He said and meant. However do not pay any attention to my postings because: there are "laconic sententious, somewhat condesending comments posted by the cyber chum, drivel mongers I have so far met. "

can i respond to that???
Well ...............................would sorry be enough???
You see Budha......if there is revelation from ''Muhammed'' or other given revelation from other religions.........then i would know what to do...........

Given that I chose to believe in the New Testament, and the words of Jesus Christ .........""Revelation"" about the end of times..........I can see how this world will end one day.........and know how things will come about and what it is for me to do............eg..The appearance of the Antichrist (and 2 witnesses that are to appear at the end of days at the same time as the antichrist, to warn others of the coming times).....

Jesus Christ will accept even those at the last minute of death ........but who knows when one is to die......

Now Buddha.......... How are we to understand........

'''What would you do/say if you were wrong about Allah, or the Yahud version of YHWH, the god of Zoroaster or anyone elses "God" for that matter?

How would we know that we were wrong .........Is there some sort of Future prophecy on what Muhammed or the others saw???
(I know of 3 prophecy of 'Muhammed' did fail to come out ......is there any others???
