Well Star Marine the FPS module will be out soon and this page shows off the way movement is handled.

robertsspaceindustries.com...

Some news ships have been released including a new tier 2 starter ship the Reliant.

robertsspaceindustries.com...

Some have misunderstood the tier 2 thing as I see it as just more choice for your pledge and more ship choice.
I think it has a B-Wing look to it.

I remember being hyped for this game when it was first announced, and it seems like it's grown quite a bit since then. The addition of FPS just adds more flavor to the soup; it just looks plain fun. The piloting reminds me a lot of Freespace, a series I loved. That, combined with how in depth the game is turning out to be, is giving me the tingles.

My only problem with large, free roaming games like these is finding people to play with though. You mentioned starting up an ATS group/clan/corp/thingy? I'd be game for pirating, mining, whatever.

Just :O

OMG this is going to be massive.

Can't wait!!>

Just to point out that they have said that they have the capability to make each solar system to scale and even bigger :O.

On the official forum some guys are thinking of actually making a crew bridge based on the ships ingame so they can basically do star trek lol.
The ideas some of them have lol.

Verry nice indeed...And im beeing honest here...
Its a STUNNING game...

BUT

Not much choices...You land were the instance tells you...
You travel were the game has drawn the lines. And as a
crowdfunded game...Like buying the pig in the sack...

MY OPINION...Now as i said...Video wise, yes absolutely amazing...
Gameplaywise...Have no idea... But a 100 systems
that you can/cant visit as you please, as in you cant
go from a to k without going thru b c d e f g i j first..
Not for me...Im still considdering ED..400 b systems...
Now they have the same traveling system so, mheee...
But pirate/gankwise...You have to KNOW were ppl are...
Cant just sit at a line waiting for someone to pup in..

They will have a slider in game which allows you to choose how much player interaction you want.
I'm waiting for squadron 42 to ship before I dive in.

The game really is starting to look good. I thought it would just end up a straight simulation type of game but seems they incorporated lots of elements to make it a fun game also, as if it turns out to be just straight simulation type gameplay its bound to eventually become to routine and boring. A little action should keep the pace as well.

Still the game is likely not my cup of tea. Mostly because not trying to spend that massive amount of time in front of a computer screen. but other then that the game is shaping out pretty nicely. A lot of space nerds have been waiting for a game like this for a while, and has plenty of room for improvements and add ons over the years.

If they would change the traveling system, add MORE space
as in more systems to visit, add the abillity to LAND on
planets and maybe even "colonize"... Id buy it.

But my main issue is the way you go from point
to point....

If we were to compare to a "landbased" sim...
You have a big map, you are at a city, you want to go
to another city. You can do that the easy way or the hard
way.. Lets say there are roads, you can use those. Lets
say there is vast open areas and forests between....You can
choose to go thru that... Or you can around the back....

In spacesims you have to use the roads to get were you want
to go... You cant go thru "The Forest"...

Seen this vid, did not know people put that much money into it, still seems like some sort of simulation to me. But for that much money they could have done so much more. I don't know, I like the concept but don't think the final product will quite live up to that.

What are you just flying around from point to point or the whole fast travel thing from space area to space area. I mean it is a game after all, most game worlds are scaled down ridiculously. I do believe even going at the speed of light if the game tries to half ass the distances between systems, may take a few years...It would make for quite a boring game, you get on it, oh lets fly there, get off in a couple of hours, get on next day and continue your flying in that direction, do that for months till you hit a planet or such.

What I am saying is that its a game, and even sandbox type games are linear games in many ways, would likely take a considerable amount of time to create all that sandbox feel on space exploration type game. No mans sky claims to have something like that were you just go to a bunch of randomly generated planets or some such, not sure.

But even that its likely to get old as even with today's processing power all those planets are bound to be variations of more primitive eco planets based on primitive life scaled down into manageable liner objectives even though it may be sandbox its not really that, most likely no big cities or space faring type most likely as that would take more processing power and a whole hell of a lot more time if they even tried to achieve that massive of a game.

Not sure about this game as it never really interested me enough to look up to much on it.

Uhhm, i dont think youve read up on the game...
The flightmechanics is multi, as in theres a sublight
system and then theres QD, QuantumDrive wich is
FASTER than light. And yes i understand the system
is scaled down and i also think its rediculous. But still,
there has to be a better way to go from where you are
to were you are going... You are in system 1 and whant
to go to system 8. You cant do that without going thru
2 3 4 5 6 7 first... That is my issue... So you say its a game.
And its all fictional... Yes i understand they are trying their
best to emulate reallity, but then we would have fossilfueld
rockets.... QD should be replaced.. Or maybe renamed...
HyperDrive maybe... But there should be more ways to
travel...
1: Sublight. The way to travel inside systems.
2: WarpDrive. Also inside systems but more as a mean to get to OTHER
systems in short range...
3: HyperDrive. Long range travel between systems at greater distance.
4: JumpDrive. Point to Point Instant travel at extreme distances. Can also
be used in short range jumps. For combat purposes.

For gameplay sake i understand they should all need some "perks"..
Sublight is perked allready by its low speed..
WarpDrive need some kind of fuel, antimatter maybe. And anyone
traveling in warp could be "pulled" out or interdicted, same goes with
hyperdrive although maybe not as easy.
Now jumpdrive is point to point so cant be interdicted or pulled. And does
not need fuel. But the perk here is size..The bigger the ship, the longer jumps.
And there could be a charge timer. Lets say 30min for gameplay.

If i only could.......

Nah only watched vids, and when it was taking off. Not really interested in the game as far as gameplay wise, but I like the concept of such a game and want to see were they went with it. I have not really kept up with things, more like seen vids of it once in a while as it progressed. It does look better then I thought it would and does have potential, but then again I never played and we will never know till it comes up and is running and people are on it.

That is my issue... So you say its a game. And its all fictional... Yes i understand they are trying their best to emulate reallity, but then we would have fossilfueld rockets.... QD should be replaced.. Or maybe renamed... HyperDrive maybe... But there should be more ways to travel...

I suppose there trying to keep it more real. But any one of those you listed above would negate the other even in traveling in that fictional setting. Dont know how it works but I am thinking they split the zones into sections and maybe in the zones themselves you have to sublight fly in there, but unless all ships can just zip from galaxy to galaxy I think they likely would be better off just having specific zones or specific ships which can do that, it would help on world building as well, kind of if you want to drive to the store you get in your car and go. But if you want to fly to japan you have to go to a airport, buy a ticket, get a time zone and date, and get prepared and then go, something like that. Or have terminals or constructs in certain areas and spaces which can zip your ship from galaxy to galaxy or whatever.

But again like I said I only so far just watched vids of this game. I didn't actually read anything on it and its game mechanics, maybe I will in the future when the game comes out, for the most part I am more interested in the concept of a game like this and on a massive scale, then I am in the actual game itself. Right now just curious to see how it will all turn out when its all said and done.

Ok i hear you and we´r almost on the same page here it seem..

Sublight can be used to travel vast distances too BUT... At that
speed youd arrive in like 1000s of years...

Warpdrive as i have read up from nasas EM systems and on fiction
could be used inside systems between planets but, would
mainly be used between starsystems at lower distances.
Would also require fuel antimatter. Faster then lightspeed.
Warp is acheaved by bending/folding space around the ship
creating a bubble of neg mass as i understand it...Thus allowing
the ship to move faster then light...

Hyperdrive is opening up a "window" or something to subspace.
Fiction so far but an interesting one.. Would also require fuel..
Wouldnt be practical to be used between planets within a star
system. Speed would be to great...

Now jumpdrive is in my books more like quantumdrive, you
entangle one point in space and at that very same time
a different point is also entangled and once activated
moves the ship instantly from point a to b. I said above
that it wouldnt need fuel but i must say im wrong there.
You cant get energy without having some.. But a
scaled down fusion reactor would probly accomplish that.
30 min to charge up and then activated would take you
very far...Instantly

And as you probly understand i LOOOVE these kind of games...
Played EVE online for manny years on multiple accounts, got
fed up with all the kiddiegankers and priate wannabees.
Played StarTrek online, was imho better then eve with
the story lines and all.
