Hello Jane, there's a topic I'd like to see discussed if a sub-forum comes into being, and it's a specific example of a general phenomenon.
In the North-West of England, local councils have often found it sensible to fix streetlights to electricity poles. It saves erecting extra poles
which is a good deal all round. Now that we have sold off our electricity infrastructure, these electricity poles are owned by, and therefore are the
responsibility of, an Australian conglomerate, and an American Bank.
Someone has recently pointed out to our American cousins, that should one of the local council's streetlights get blown off said pole, and trash the
greenhouse at number three, LITIGATION could possibly ensue.
(Imagine a prairie with a wagon train rapidly forming a circle to the accompaniment of fast banjo music).
I believe our local councils will face little choice here, and personally find the idea of less light rather attractive, (preferring to see the stars)
the thing I find objectionable is that selling off our infrastructure is obviously not always in our best interests long-term.

PS. We need another section for talking about the weather. Obviously.
