I don't think its propaganda considering I ve had very worried folks bang on my door for the past week to help.

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear in my post. I didn't mean the EBT problem is propaganda. I meant whatever else they're talking about presently is.

No, you don't have to apologize, its a general vent on my part. I have already had attempted break ins because the people that live in my neighborhood live off of goverment benefits and are scared because they got notice that they might not get the foodstamps or SSDI.

We are a family that helps and provide sone nights shelter and now even we can't.
They really don't get it.

Obama rejected any short term solutions today.

Then he went on a tirade on the radio.

Then all of a sudden we have a brand new *Crisis*

Hmmm.

I think Obama is in *get even* mode.

This is a very dangerous time in history.

This makes me a little uneasy in my gut. We are all accountable for our fellows and the thought of having to go door to door just to make sure the neighbor's children are getting fed makes me tremble a bit in anger. I know damned well it won't be Donald Trump or Bill Gates running the canned food drives.

Who said that?

Perhaps this should be a HUGE wake up call to the people dependent on the government, they won't always be there to guarantee your well being. (and you should questions yourself if you can't feed your kids)

Remain vigilant and brave. Do not let yourself or family be victimized. This is the end game, there is nothing left in the piggy bank.

I find it very suspicious that very few news stations are picking it up. Could it be they don't want to incite panic?

Could this be a test to see how people will respond in case they do decide to cut benefits?
Giving time to prepare the military to quell riots?

LOL I was trying to be "sensitive"
I avoided adding the thought that lizards, snakes, birds and all other small forms of life are now free to a good kitchen

I wonder whats on sale at the pet store.

Humans first while they are still nice and plump!

If we wait to long they will all stringy and tough!

Also fewer zombies later!

No, I will not question somebody who can't feed their kids. I will question the economy and I will question their government. A person no longer has the ability to carve out an existence on their own land and grow their own food. Since they cannot, yes, it is part of social responsibility to make sure everybody can freakin' eat. If you take away options and force people to live in a construct they did not choose, you must aid those who do not succeed in that construct they did not ask for.

Besides, it could be somebody riding in the back of a limo, asking for Gray Poupon and I'd still give them food. It may be knock-off mustard but I'd make sure that limo guy had some food. Because it's FREAKIN' FOOD!

(and you should question yourself if you choose not to feed somebody else's kid while hiding your miserliness behind financial ethics torn straight from the Satanic bible dressed up to look like fierce independence and patriotism)

I think MidnightTide had a valid point.

Our apathy has led us to a place where we are incapable of taking care of ourselves.

We are no longer a nation of independent people.

Those crazy conspiracy theorists!
Talking about how they would cut off the EBT cards and starve people.
NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.
When will you nutcases give it up?
Just because the government is shut down doesn't mean normal services won't continue.
Please return to your regularly scheduled programming.

I can't tell, are you joking or not? I would keep on paying attention to the regularly scheduled programming, I think you are wrong.

It usually isn't a good idea to starve people because of civil unrest issues, but check out the kind of "security" we have now in our country, we can starve whoever we want.

As a matter of fact, starving people for a month would be a great way to instigate civil unrest and justify declaring martial law, seriously.

Look at the behavioral patterns of our leaders at the moment, we have 5 days until default, is anyone making a serious attempt at stopping it or are they preparing for the aftermath?

Alex Jones' guest, Mike Adams just brought up the point about what could happen if the EBT cards stop working last night at 1:30:00 and some change into the video!
But don't listen to him, 'cause he's a nutcase!!!

ETA: This is all part of the "Shutdown Theatre". Hmmm.... What else could we do to put the fear of god into the people? I know!!! Shut off their food stamps!! Yeah... That'll make 'em scream to their legislators for the shutdown to end!!

I have a feeling this "glitch" is intentional. It will be used by the left to point fingers at the right proclaiming, "Children are starving because of YOUR shutdown!" Anyone willing to bet me on that?

I would tend to agree.
I can't find when the EBT system was down last time involving this many states.

There is no such thing as a "nation of independent people". You cannot be completely independent and part of a nation. That's Mad Max Somolia you are talking about.

My point was that since we cannot, ever ever ever, go back to putting a stake in the dirt and making your living off the land, then we need to have social nets to make up for those who cannot thrive in the dependent universe you forced them into.

So in a way, I agree. But the answer isn't to take away food. Ever.

I'm so sorry and am deeply worried. Even if this temporary problem is fixed we are quickly approaching the Oct. 19 deadline for raising the debt limit when these services may truly be shutdown.

If you don't mind answering, were you offered any type of alternative such as signing a food stamp voucher that would be deducted later when the system is operational again?

Again, I'm sorry for your troubles. This doesn't look like the America I understood us to be all these years. The land of opportunity sold out to the highest bidder. How many of us can even afford to survive anymore, even working full time? Many, many people who bought into the middle class American Dream are awakening to a nightmare.

I pray we find our compassion and understanding as a nation until opportunities can be restored. I hope for your sake and everyone struggling that services are restored and we get back to the business of the people in this land. We have quite enough yachts and very few people that even remember what a living wage feels like.

Local news station NBC 4 in New York just minutes ago, finally mentioned the EBT problem. They said it was due to a computer "glitch" and it's unknown when it will be fixed. Not very reassuring news!
