Yeah lol...its the hottest topic....for what reason?? Christ...the guy flipped his flag and you all are frothing at the mouth over it.
It doesn't MEAN anything....at all. Here you all sit...applauding this benign thing like its never been done before. Like the act of turning the flag upside down is some grand statement or something. It isn't.

The kid who stood in front of that tank in Tienamen Square...DID SOMETHING for his cause.

The guy who set himself on fire at the national mall....DID SOMETHING...and that thread got like ten flags.

I bet the OP will pay his taxes in April. In fact, I bet the OP follows all the laws. In for a penny, in for a pound is the saying. Half assed crap like turning the flag upside down, and then following all other Unconstitutional Laws just tells me he's a hypocrite.

Now onward with the "shill" statements and whatever other nonsense you neophytes can come up with. The fact remains, some dude in some little town turning his flag upside down MEANS NOTHING, yet you fools seem to think this has never been done before. What a bunch of clapping monkeys...for real.

i won't call you a shill...i will say that you are ignorant, insensitive, and incredibly insulting.....

since the thread is abuzz with activity, and is on the front page, common sense dictates that the gentleman's gesture was, in fact, not meaningless....it obviously means something to a lot of people...

if you disagree, you could always go participate in other threads, instead of wasting time whining about how you don't get it....if it's meaningless to you, that's fine...this obviously ain't the spot for you, jog on...

So proud of you Americans in here taking a stand against those that are trying to ruin and manipulate your awesome country & people now if the rest of them could wake up! I find it so sad i live all the way in Australia and can see it yet some there just cant or simply dont care.. And the restof the world should be starting to get anxious too because if things f^# up there they are bound to do the same elsewhere with finances etc atleast..

i didnt think it was ignorant at all, it was a breath of fresh air for the hive mentality going on here. everyone is just blindly starring posts now like some sort of robot, and as soon as a post comes around that isnt like all the others everyoen seem to turn against that post.
i dont know, i have hard time explain it but i fail to see what saying "this country is in distress" is gonna do, and why OP got so many stars and flags and "way to go!" for putting a flag upside down.

it baffles me.. okay.. so the contry is in distress.. it has been in distress for centurys. but a person puts a flag upside down? holy mother of god such an amazing feat!

?!?!? i really dont get it at ALL

The street I live on has been nicknamed 'Flag Row' for all the vet's houses and flags on it. I can't look out a single window without seeing at least one flag, and most have a view of many flags.

I'm wondering what would happen if I snuck out in the dead of night and flipped them all upside down.

Yeah, I know. Passive Aggressive 'R Us.

Funny youre saying that, a few veteran buddies and myself are working on a petition to force a recall election

So, why don't you posters who are in disagreement of the OPs premise and the sites reaction to the thread, ask the OP instead of judging, and trying to ridicule?

The American flag and the whole concept of national pride is a put on sir. Its a way to rally the people to a cause by governments. Making an anology between a fictional character MADE UP BY THE GOVERNMENT ie: Captain America , goes a long way to showing you are one of those who are duped into believing in the agenda...namely that America is somehow exceptional...we are not. The beacon of freedom has less freedoms than countries such as the UAE and even SYRIA.
This national pride crap has feluded critical thinking skills and no amount of flag turning will stop tptb...they're all laughing at you clapping monkeys. Its pitiful...but hey, if it makes you all sleep better knowing the OP's flag is upside down, than by all means.

At the end of the day, yoy all can clap yourselves on the back for a job well done....meanwhile, those of us in the real world will continue to mock your asinine efforts to make a statement.

Furthermore, what are you doing? Oh, you mentioned, nothing? Because you feel nothing will change. On top of that you are mocking what you see as asinine action, what is that going to change? Nothing, pot meet kettle. What are you adding to the site and or the site's top threads? Why don't you be an example that you want to see?

dude just cus ppl dont know what turning a piece of cloth upside down means, doesnt mean the same as they dont know what is going on in the world.

how do you even make that leap? to assume i know nothing about the world, just cus i dont understand the symboliism of turning a flag upside down?!

that is the most redicolous logic ive ever heard.

People assume you know nothing about the world because you spell words like "cus" and "ppl", don't capitalize or punctuate, and refer to the American flag as a piece of cloth.

it is becus i dont speak english i am from other side of globe. but sure go ahead and take the lowest argument possible just so that you can win it. which is my spelling.
second, all flags are a piece of cloth

many flags are even identical both sides, so its impossible to see if its side up or side down,
secondly, this is the internet, not america
and thirdly, all i did was ask why it is such a big deal of how one hangs ones flag.

this is getting wierder and wierder

Go for it!

More of us should do the same at court houses, state houses, every place the flag is flown.

It isn't a big deal....at all.

in your opinion.....you keep leaving that bit out..

What you're really doing is copping out. You're doing the MINIMUM and then clapping yourself on the back for being soooo brave. Turning a flag upside down isn't brave. Posting about it so you can get some claps on your back in the form of flags or stars isn't brave. Its doing the least amount of work and expecting to win a Nobel Prize. Much like someone riding past a protest and honking their horn in support and then claiming they've done a good deed or something.

i would suggest, at this point, that you shut the hell up.

the man wore the uniform, he served, he deliberately put himself in harm's way for his country....have you?

i'd say the man has earned the right to take it easy...

While I may agree with the concept of an upside down flag, it has zero business cluttering up the front page of any site because IT ISN'T A BIG DEAL.

thank you for your support, lol

i'd like to suggest, at this time, that you let board administration decide what does and does not belong on the front page of their site....

It is NOT a disrespect to the flag. It is calling attention to those who DO disrespect our country. \
What really bothers me is all the people who fought and died to preserve democracy in the United states, only to have what we see now happening, brought on largely by people who have NEVER served the country or gone in harms way.

People can knock the US and bad mouth it, but the country is not a place so much as an IDEA. And the ideal can still be saved. It can be saved when it becomes of the PEOPLE for the PEOPLE by the PEOPLE. Right now you can substitute people with DOLLAR.

No revolution will change a thing. Only a change of consciousness, as in large numbers of people starting to know RIGHT FROM WRONG again, will save it. We have to end the corruption in ourselves before we can end it in the government.

A flag is more than a piece of cloth, like a book is more than just the paper it's printed on. If you have no respect for your own country's flag, that's on you.

since you are obviously not from here, i don't expect you to understand....

it's one of those things you can only really "get" after having grown up here....it's a symbol, and symbols are powerful. the flag means something to citizens, and means even more to soldiers....

i don't expect you to understand, and it would appear that you have done nothing to research the topic, so as to gain a better understanding of it, so it would also appear that you don't WISH to understand....which is ok too.....just don't piss on the man's gesture...

A flag is a symbol. Nothing more. You can create various cults around a national flag....but nationalism is a little too creepy to me. I would rather just revere my country in my daily actions, instead of trivial baubles and rituals.

Your question has been answered. Can you read? Can you use Google? Are you that absent in the mind? If you are, please tell me because then I will not be irritated with you any longer and I will feel sorry for you.

No it hasnt. If all it means is "i show distress" then i even more dont see what is special about it. ppl demonstrate all the time in america, country has been broken a long time. but putting a flag upside down is so special? there is probably some deep symbolism that you americans understand but i for one sure as hell dont understand what makes it so special about a flag.

Are you so jealous of stars and flags you cannot see the spirit of this thread? Motivating other American's to show their distress in flying their (OUR) flag upside down?

What now? jealus? are you seriously thinking i ask because im jealous of stars and flags? haha, that is pathetic
no the reason i asked was because i didnt understand WHY it is such a big deal . and i still dont.
i understand YOU understand it though, but from the outside , by somone who dont understand the symbolism it seems very un-special.

also i dont understand why ppl get so mad and accuse me of stuff when all i did is ask.

whatever the feel in this thread is extremely hostile toward anyone non-american so that i get attacked just by posing a question. so i will leave thread now bye bye and have fun with your flags , it will surely make a difference in the world haha
