Far enough in the thread to respond-- and stars for all those of discernment and conscience. I submit that every American pass the word for our flag to be flown inverted on 11/11 in every place for the one purpose... not at all in disrespect but support.
I always have and will observe flag etiquette. This gesture is its saddest component, but now the right thing.
I too, Homer never thought the republic could go this far wrong without a visible, general outrage. Maybe the ones yet asleep or disaffected will ask why to the point they become angry for the right reasons upon hearing the message intended. I fear much less a winter of discontent than the spring of needless slaughter.

Of course a flag and star, 150th of the former. If only you could get five at a time for how much this needs to stay at the top.

I've missed several pages of this thread, but I was trying to get caught up when I noticed that the logo for this forum is now an upside down flag! Has it always been this way, or did it just change after this thread?

It appears that there have been a couple different images used, but the ones I viewed were, indeed, upside-down US flags.

I would do this but I have no yard where I live and the apartment window is blocked by a balcony so nobody would see this. People have put flags and even decorations up but the manager says it's a hazard and sends out newsletters to everyone every few months to take them down or they will be taken down. Not sure the legalities of this but I'm living here for another month before moving into a house so, I'm not bothered.

But when I do live in a house I will be getting a flag once I have the capital for it =) I salute OP for bringing this idea to light and I agree with it entirely. I'll be living in a neighborhood that has many vets as neighbors so I'm good. Best place IMO. Most neighbors are vets and everyone has a few acres of land. Talk about best case scenario if SHTF.

They are scared of us, why else would they try to monitor our every move? Terrorism and public safety makes for a convenient excuse, to destroy our privacy and freedom... because they are scared. Politicians have been cheating on citizens in favor of the corporate agenda, for a very long time... even went so far as to make corporations people. Most citizens are no longer in denial, that our relationship with the government has become toxic.

I usually do not rely to heavy on any of this although I know it is a possibiIity but it appears we are in real danger. Just got this a few minutes ago, may be worth reading! Something terrible is taking place that could possibly bring about Martial law!

Displaying the Flag upside down has nothing to do with "being negative", it has nothing to do with fear or even being weak. It is a symbol of the Country in distress. If you can honestly look around you today and say this Country is not in distress, than I would suggest you are living in denial on a massive scale.

HomerinNC- I for one am proud of you Sir. I am sure for you, this was not an easy decision or one that was taken lightly. However, it is accurate and I hope more people follow your lead and begin seeing what is really going on around us.

I usually don't post in political threads, (mainly as it is pointless due to bipartisan BS) but what effect do you think hanging a flag upside down will have? I understand it is a gesture, but do you expect change (Yes we can) or is it just a feel good exercise to revive your jaded feelings? TIA

It matters. This is more far reaching than just a few people being forced to stay home. The area I live in relies heavily on tourism to stay afloat. In fact one county was going to use their sherriff's department to reopen the national parks. The Governor talked them out of it for 24 hours. We will see what they do next.

This shutdown reaches into places you have not considered. Sure, the employees will get back pay, but what about those private companies that are losing out because our government is failing America? Please do not take the narrow view and only see what is presented to you.

I remember videos of elected officials brawling in their respective capitol buildings. It was so funny to think these grown men could act so childish. Never happen in America and we could laugh and laugh. These videos do not look so funny anymore. Oh, there may not be shoes flying or fists making contact, but the attitude is still there.

Look, I firmly believe we need at minimum a two party system so that we do not end up in a monarchy or a dictatorship, however when each side points to the other saying 'they are out to destroy you', then I lose all respect and faith in them. When each party can be bought by special interest, then I know they no longer have my best interest at heart. When the members of those parties are in it for 'their own self gain', then I know they only see me as a stepping stone meant solely to be walked upon. Know that I have not lost faith in America, just in it's leadership.

Don't ever assume you know what I know :
