see above.

and as I try and get this stench of a topic to disperse, I see we get another cryptic post from someone who is either the person in question, or a friend or whomever, I don't care. It reads like a Michael Horn post with innuendo and subtle hints in both directions which makes me think y'all are being played by a man who wants the attention for being an elvis impersonator and has now drawn too much of said attention and wants it to stop.

Yes Crakeur. I agree we are being played. But, you and staff are also being played, when each thread is pulled based on complaints on a public YT channel, that in all honesty, could have come from anyone, not even an ATS member.

Yet, we absorb the blame and lose our valuable time in research into one of the world's greatest potential conspiracies, by having our collaborative threads deleted.

Is this now the policy of ATS, to punish us for the sour deeds of everyone on the net?

If we are being played, don't we have the right to continue our quest for truth, for why we are being played?

"Online loonies" are what made ATS fun and actually worth reading. Get rid of that demographic and all you have left are people who cling to mainstream media official "explanations", people who are afraid to point out inconsistencies in things, and a bunch of dull skeptics.

ATS is well on its way to that goal.

I personally believe that Elvis is probably dead, but I don't have an issue with people who want to speculate that he is not. I guess ATS does because of fears of potential litigation. God forbid.

Shine on you crazy diamonds!! If you think Elvis hasn't left the building, I'm interested in reading about it.

Ohh you mean like him and his followers - how nice.

If he didnt make money off this and didnt cultivate this in any way then maybe OK I understand.
But NO not this... someone didnt accidentally get a picture of a recluse (JD Salinger) and go hunting.

It is the medium and that is what stinks. Now he doesnt like it? Well then pack it in shut everything down now, pull every last webpage and make $0 from it. After 1 year I will say OK.

Objectivity find it.

Exactly... I went into the first thread rolling my eyes and laughing people who believed Cotner was Elvis.
But watching people working together, posting analysis and so on, it became fun and interesting and kind of thing that ATS USED to be about.

Now it's just a regurgitation of MSM stories and so on.

Yaaaay.

Let people have their conspiracies.... it's why we ALL joined ATS and why the site started.

I would be interested in your beliefs about Syd Barrett being dead!!

On topic regarding Jon Borrows, well personally I think this is a look alike jumping on the Band Wagon. Elvis is dead that we do know. Is Elvis Aaron Presley dead? The jury is still out regarding that. Particularly after all the threads that have been pulled recently.

These Elvis Conspiracy threads were the first in a long time on ATS, I saw a large influx of new members who joined in to make their first posts. Those posts were not trolling, nor derogatory. They were well thought out contributions to the thread. There were also multiple comments of *this is what I read ATS for, it made me finally join to post*.

If ATS continues to discourage such threads, the caliber and diversity of members, that made ATS the success it has become, will dwindle until ATS is nothing more than a sanitized FB wanna-be site.

I've been a lurker since who knows when...'04, '05? Member since '06. I don't post much, but I certainly read a lot here. I'm only 34 years old, my favorite band is the Beastie Boys...I'm not exactly what you would call a big Elvis fan. So when I see mods generalizing saying this is only "fans wanting to believe" and other non-constructive BS It really saddens me.

How could an admin to a CONSPIRACY website be allowed to edit, lock, modify, move threads based on their own opinion of the matter? It's damn slap in the face to all of us who respect what this website has to offer.

Yep... I am one of those new members. I have lurked on ATS for years. I just joined recently because I found a forum (JC/EP threads) that I was genuinely interested in, and felt that I could add to the community. However, I am VERY disappointed to find that ATS simply deletes threads at will like this. It doesn't appear to be the site I thought it was!!

Did I just witness two site administrators of a conspiracy site come into this thread and insinuate or flat out call the members interested in this topic online loonies?

Wow. Classy.

Perhaps ATS should publish some kind of list of which conspiracy topics are approved or not "looney" so we don't all waste our time researching and becoming invested in a topic that the site can just decide: "eh...we're sick of this. You can't talk about this anymore."

Absolutely, ATS has been getting further and further away from what it used to be about.
I don't know whether it's the sponsors/advertisers saying that the money is in the news stories so ATs has to stick with the current affairs stuff or whether they just really don't want conspiracies any more.

These were the first threads in a while I got involved in because ATS is just stale these days, spend less and less time here. this reignited my interest in the site again....because they're fun threads and have a great atmosphere and spirit in them.

If I want the news, I watch the news... If I want sport or TV, then I go to sites for that.

ATS should be what it was.

Not a news site.

But hey, it's their sand-pit.

You are correct in what you say.

It's okay to call Alex Jones the anti-christ/shill/loony toon et al, but to start investigating a guy who puts himself out there, dropping hints as to who he could be, well that's obviously a big no no now.

It's a shame really, but that's where we are.

I can honestly say I have never previously held an opinion on this matter until now. The thread regarding the photographic comparisons was initially interesting. Indeed, I posted that when I contributed to the thread, but also stated that I didn't think the said person was Elvis. However, it became more and more compelling. So much so that I actually accessed ATS for the first time in work today to follow the progress of the thread.

I was led to believe that the thread was removed at the request of the OP. However, it has become clear that it was removed due to the number of complaints received by ATS. This not only surpises me, it leaves a bitter after taste.

Not only that but I started a general "is Elvis alive" thread and made clear nobody was to post images of Cotner and that we respect everyone's privacy and that we ignore trolls/outside trouble.

The thread was shut down.

Did not break a single ATS T&C and I've had no explanation.

Not only that but people who followed it or who are interested in conspiracies, are now Loonies... It's official!!

It's absurd...

Its funny how all the Elvis/Cotner threads started disappearing around the time his "friend" Dixie joined ATS.

Im sure the staff will say thats because as his representative they felt harassed, but I think its much more likely to be the fact we were getting far too close to the truth. Especially in the BOMBSHELL thread.

Right on, Battlefresh. Too many threads and posts seem to disappear lately. I do believe the mods are beginning to be somewhat overreaching and paranoid. In their quest to make ATS "the biggest and the best", they will kill the very spirit which made it that way.

For a while I stopped posting. If something of interest came up, I would have friends alert me and then say "hurry and read it before it's 404'd". If ATS wants to treat its posters, who generate ALL THE CONTENT for this website, like a bunch of children, then it is their right. Don't be surprised, however, when the adults decide to drift away.

Again....nothing I've seen so far leads me to believe that Elvis is alive, hiding as an FBI agent, etc. None of the guys who are supposed to be The King looks enough like Elvis for me to buy the idea that he still roams among us. Nevertheless, it is interesting stuff, it is relevant because people ARE interested, and so I will show up and read and post.

Isn't that the whole point of this place? Or has it become protection of the LLC?

Yes, I saw your thread and also attempted to contribute, but alas it was 404'd.

I too could see nothing wrong with it, it appeared to fit in with T&C's. Strange!!

So let me get this straight!! Threads about conspiracies are being closed on a conspiracy site by the staff who are then insulting members who are interested in conspiracies?
I'm guessing ATS wants people on its site right?

I'd be careful how you treat them.

Yup I have been following this site for a long time. This incident is the reason I made an account and why I will put no faith in those who oversee this.
It is pretty amazing and most blatant thing I have seen in a while.
Protect a man who does everything in his power to provoke this and make as much money as he can but turn it off because he doesnt like it now?
Tear down the wall!

I dont care who he is actually (how he acts is different) it is just how the admins of this site have acted that made this so authoritarian and against everything this site was to uphold.

It's very suspicious that moderators of a conspiracy site call it's members 'loonies'. Perhaps we ought to be concerned more about who YOU are ? What has transpired here with threads being locked/deleted, admins calling members loony toons etc, is a conspiracy in itself and deserves it's own thread !

I believe that was a rhetorical statement referring to the pre-existing online material (as early as 2010) created by a collection of other people off-ATS. The statement may have been overly-harsh because of the contact-US and private communications we've been getting from those promoting the subject.
