Not sure where to post this, as it is a tiny little thing. But now that I've seen it it bothers me.
When loading the main page, in Safari you have the thread/page title right above the page.
The title is "AboveTopSecret.com - Conspiracy Theories, UFOs, Paranormal, Politcs and other .......

Yeah.. Politcs

The word

"window"

can never have a dot after it, otherwise ATS transforms it into an underscore:

"window."

Click quote to this post and compare.

I don't always log in when I'm reading on ATS. Shame on me, I know.

But when I'm reading a thread & decide I want to respond, I've tried to use the "log in" buttons found at the top & bottom of threads, such as this:

Alas, when clicked, I am directed here:

This is the url: www.abovetopsecret.com...

I use Win 7 & Chrome 32.0.1700.76 m, if it makes any difference.
Just thought you would want to know.

Ever since the change over, this is how the site looks for me, including all of the smilies. They're colored circles with big "M"s over them, for example. It looks this way on Firefox and Chrome.

I refrained from making a thread about it, and I'm sure it's been brought up a lot, but a link on how to fix this would be great. Let me know, it's impossible to navigate anywhere here.

I still see all of these little weird rectangle symbols and have trouble navigating or knowing what any of the buttons do. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Not sure if this is a bug but I had to create a new user ID to post this as I am unable to login to my ID UberL33t

My password has not changed since the conversion to ATS 5.3 but I have tried to login using my ID and password to no avail but have been unsuccessful despite trying with 3 separate browsers (IE, Chrome and Firefox). I have not been successfully able to log in since the conversion. I tried to email the contact email address from the ATS contact page but have yet to receive a response so I finally decided to try this route...as a last resort. I would prefer to re-animate my actual user ID.

I did a search and the closest thread I could find relating to this issue was relative to iPhone/iPads and a cookie setting (of which I have ruled out just in case). This computer has a fresh install of Windows 7 as well so nothing is blocked firewall/anti-virus-wise.

I am officially at a loss and reaching out to Staff/Mods for a resolution to my issue. For that I send my humble thanks in advance for any assistance that can be provided to re-animate my user ID.

Disregard...I stumbled upon the "bad password"/"forgot password" link...I think my password (containing special charaters) was not registering for some reason...?

ETA: Now to figure out how to cancel the 00UberL33t00 ID

Ever since the cut over, when I write a post, the character count remains totally locked at 7500. No matter how many paragraphs I type, the number never scrolls down. Now, more often than not, a post to a thread would not need to contain more than a certain number of characters, but I am an overly verbose bugger at the best of times. Although I have not been abusing the lack of a count, but I like to have a stopping point, otherwise I would ramble to the point of being aggravating... more aggravating

Confirmed, in this thread... :

www.abovetopsecret.com...

... I actually over ran the character limit. When I tried to edit a mistake in grammar, I was alerted to the fact that I had no characters to work with, and the last paragraph of the post above had been truncated, which means I had definitely over run my character allowance for that post, for which I apologise profusely.

Using a rooted version of ICS 4.0.4 on a tablet, and Opera Mini, I don't have the ability to star or flag anything?

Anyone else using Android rooted?

Starring and flagging on 5/3 doesn't work if you don't have Javascript enabled, and Opera Mini processes Javascript differently than most browsers, which is probably your problem. See this: Opera Mini - JavaScript support.

My work computer did the same. The system security software and settings didn't process some scripting. The Java was always out of date.

Opera Mini doesn't seem to be supported by ATS. Unless they cleared that up.

I'm not sure if this is a new bug, or if it is one I hadn't noticed before, but if I end a sentence with the word "window" followed immediately by a ".", I get an underscore.

I'll type the word "window" followed by a period now: window.

I'm not sure what you others see, but in the test above I typed in the word "window" followed by a "." And all I can see when I preview this post is a "_" rather than the word "window" followed by a period.

I am using Firefox as my browser, if that matters.

For now, I can get around this issue by adding a space between "window and the period, like this: window .

I made a thread on this very subject, and indeed, it has has also been mentioned in this thread, although perhaps some pages back from here.

It is known of. Very odd indeed. I think it may be a security measure, but I am not sure exactly, since I have all the technological mastery of a hallucinating bullfrog.

Yes. window(dot) is used in Javascript to access the browser window, which allows the script to access and modify its attributes. So blocking window(dot) prevents that from happening. You'll note that "Window." is allowed, because Javascript is case sensitive, so "Window." and "window(dot)" are two different things.

I wanted to start a new thread with my first post but unfortunately the new thread button takes me to a blank empty screen with the lone ATS logo up top. Anyone help?

Ok here goes... i hope this gets acknowledged. cos its pretty annoying.

When you go to your list of posts, if you click on a post you made that just happens to be the last post of a page in a thread, then instead of getting to that post it will take you to the first post in the next page.

E.g. say there's a thread. You make a post in this thread and coincidentally it happens to be the last post of page 4. Now if you go to your list of posts and click on this post, you will be taken to the first post in page 5 (not your post).

It took me a while to clock this. But now i know it happens everytime without exception, but only if said post was last post on a page!

Ok thaanks ATS staff.... i hope someone reads this!!

On January 19th I posted that my stars were not sticking. It seemed to have been fixed.

However I noticed today I am having the same problem. I'm wondering if the problem was ever fixed and I just didn't notice then.

Going back to posts I could have sworn I starred, and they are not starred.

My stars aren't sticky anymore.
