Breaking: Russia says ballistic 'objects' fired in Mediterranean

This is some odd piece of new from a local newspaper here( its one of the biggest news agencies here in Belgium )

Rusland heeft de lancering waargenomen van 'twee ballistische objecten' vanuit het centrale gedeelte van de Middellandse Zee. De koers van de raketten veroorzaakte even onrust, hoewel in Syrië geen explosie was waargenomen. Intussen blijkt het volgens verschillende bronnen om een test te gaan. Beide projectielen zijn in het water gevallen. De Verenigde Staten ontkennen echter dat er raketten zijn afgevuurd.

Reply to posters above, it doesn't say who. Further says the article everyone is denying its theirs, but "sources" say it was a test lol.

Israel is covering for someone? They said they didn't know of any launch, and I just saw a post here with a tweet saying the US claimed responsibility something with weather reconnaissance?

Test fires during this crisis? It is a provocation.

As reported by all media posts and rehashed by this site. The Russian Early Warning System did not pick up the initial launch. The launch was identified by sea and underwater vessels, the r.e.w.s. simply verified its trajectory and posted the news that then filtered out through the social networks and the rest is history.

That would be it, missiles have been around for thirthy years, no need to be still testing them.
Now they know they are monitored closely.

If nothing else, it proves you can't trust anything any of these people say.

Israel; NO we don't know anything about two missiles being launched.

USA; NO we don't know anything about these objects.

Israel; Yes, it was Israel and the US who launched the missiles for 'target practice'. (if you don't know how to aim your missiles by now guys, you're gonna be in trouble)

After what the US did in Serbia, Iraq GW1, Iraq GW2...

why do they still need to do testing on these missiles?

I think a few events happened in quick succession here..

1. The US and Israel were expecting a response. Syria wouldn't wait for these missiles to hit.

2. Israel and the US alarmed that the missiles were detected and reported to the media quickly scurried for a cover story, '' testing and aiming practice '' will be all you hear about this incident.

3. Russia has let the US and Israel know they are being watched, the world and Syria will be alerted to any and all actions.

one thing I'm still trying to gauge here, is why Russia reported them as ballistic?... perhaps that is just a language issue or their detections cant distinguish?
although in saying that, Russia if they were watching closely should have known who fired them almost immediately.. submarine perhaps?

I am totally with the "baiting" crowd. That was a provocation, pure and simple- designed to see if Syria or anyone else would start firing. Those missile systems are tested already out the yin yang. No need for friggin "target practice." Not under forward operating position, there isn't. They want war so bad they can taste it. Just ITCHING to pull that little trigger. Makes me sick.
