Did you tweak the Colours some more on the Dark version? It seems a little better on the eyes than it was last night, or perhaps my eyes are just not as tired.

A couple of things:

1) Are you able to put a "back to top" function in at the bottom of threads? Like there was on the old ATS.

2) One thing that used to bug me on the old ATS, was when you were in a forum and scrolled down to the bottom of the page of threads, you had to scroll all the way to the top to change page. Are you able to put the "page list" or a "next page" function at the bottom of the list of theads on a forum, like you have at the bottom of individual threads?

Forgive a stupid question, but I don't seem to have a PM with log-in details. Did they go out to everybody?

Light version & orange smilies are just fine, only on dark background they seem a bit off.

Good choice on making signatures muted blue (on dark version) instead of yesterdays dark gray, they were almost undetectable.

...i am missing a pointer/cursor on v (new ribbon) , light/dark version change and the X to close the profile info box (icon under our avatars)

I hope this doesn't sound simple minded but .... maybe since this is just something that has been happening for 'months' ... maybe it's just that it's SUMMER and people check the headlines and then go out and do summer things instead of staying on a computer. It could be something that is just that simple. Does the drop off match the weather? Warmer weather in the spring ... even better weather in the summer ... people go out and do things instead of stay for longer periods of time on the computer? Just a thought ...

I like the size of the new site and the new font. It's easier for me to read.

I do NOT like the smilies. I won't be using those. yuk.

Like anything, it'll take time to figure out how to get around ....

Mobile phone issue:

Still not able to login via mobile phone (Android phone (4.0.4), default browser).

I can now see the login button using the left dropdown menu, but when it is clicked it just highlights & does nothing.

... Just noticed that the page shifts down to & leaves black space at the top, but nothing is there. It looks like it is trying to accommodate space for the login, but it is not loading.

Thanks!!

General impression: excellent. Easy access functionality, less clicks. Nice design. Great UX.

iPad 1 adaptive issue: the message flows under the avatar pic, becomes hard and scroll intensive to read anything

UX Suggestions: improve the pager please. On a mobile device the page numbers are almost impossible to click unless you zoom in. At a minimum, plz increase the ToStart and ToEnd button sizes, add next page and prev page buttons, space them out and increase the spacing or size of the page numbers as well.

Functionality suggestion (for next version):

one of the key things that make reddit, slashdot, etc nice to read is that it is easy to give feedback on comments and based on that feedback, change what granularity/response type you see.

First when you post a comment allowing you to say what aspects the response contains, eg. Question, additional info, opinion, discussion, refutation, idea, humor, (troll bait?) etc and Allow the OP to add to those.

Secondly having single click no-reload buttons next to posts and comments that for eg allow you to tag them with eg. Impression: insightful, funny, informative, off topic, (rude?, suspected shill?)

Then when reading, a user could get an overview of especially a long thread by viewing all but the last page with filters for eg. Insightful, informative and funny over average for thread.

Very often on potentially good threads the detracting posts can be so many that the thread becomes impossible to read and you give up on something that you should give input on.

Thank you for this site. It is making a huge difference in the world.

Persistent menu is fantastic.

Still like the old "Mod" "Super Mod" "Admin" "Site Owner" graphics better and still liked the emoticons... or any emoticons... better than these.

Chat is a little much. A lot much. It moves too fast, on a Saturday night it is going to be impossible to keep up with and maybe I am getting old and going blind but its harder to see. The white background is harsh on the eyes (unless that's something you can modify within your personal chat settings).

Applause should be listed where Karma, WATS, Posts, Flags, and Stars are listed.

I love that the "i" button was moved to a more visible place.

I love that the Karma, Wats, Posts, Flags, Stars can be seen on most any avatar now.

All in all, an amazing job that must have taken an incredible amount of time. Thank you for all of the work.

One more unrelated issue. Recently there has been ads that make huge JavaScript pop ups all over the screen. They serious detract from the usability of the site. I understand advertising finance sites like this, I actually appreciate relevant ads. But this is so irritating that I've started checking how to filter out all the ads to get rid of this intrusion. Maybe this also is related to the decreasing usage.

I would not put it beyond the ppl that dislike sites like this to do that on purpose, as the ads don't seem to want to sell you anything, just irritate.

Are you talking about on your phone? I have big issues with pop ups on this site on my phone, but never on my computer.

Mostly I use an iPad 1 with Safari when accessing ATS. But I think I have seen the oversized popp ads on mac Firefox as well.

For some reason I can't post a reply or a new thread in the Posse Comitatus forum? Is there a reason for this? I can in the old site but not the new, and i've clicked around other forums and not found the issue anywhere else?

This happen to anyone else, or have the rules changed with regards to who can post in there?

I've uploaded annotated screenshots with the things I've encountered that I think should be fixed.

The new ATS is looking great. It will be perfect if the things below are remedied.

Ok so i have done some messing about today and the "preview" function for threads desperately needs to be worked on.

in the preview the text is black making it difficult to see and links are some odd shade of very dark blue.

I also noticed that when i want to put text in to bold it does not actually put it in to bold as it should appear when published. there does not seem to be the same problem when writing and previewing a reply its just affecting the new threads function.

Simply put the "preview" button for new threads does not seem to match the final product making the whole idea of the preview function pointless. I need the preview function for my threads so please can this be fixed

Anyone else getting this problem?

I like the new design. It took a min to get use to but it's not all that bad.

I do however dislike the smiley's. They hurt the eyes but they aren't the most important thing on here. In fact to me they don't really matter all that much.

Imo the decline is due to how people interact online now. It's hard to have a legit conversation on any forum lately when you have SOOO many negative people posting and ruin a good conversation with negativity. Many call them trolls. I see it on various forums and posting sites. It's like people want to just be mean no matter what. I don't get it. If you don't have something productive or nice to say why even waste the space?

I could be wrong but it's just my observation.

I do miss the friends feature. I liked going to "Friends Threads" to see what my favorite members had posted. I wish that could come back.

Maybe have a feature where you can follow certain members??

Using the desktop version on Android, while posting to a topic, the menu bar interferes with the posting window (overlaps it).

I prefer the desktop version even on mobile. I can see more of the site for a complete user experience.

I will switch to mobile to eval it.

ETA, you should just use icons instead of icons with descriptions. People can adapt. The site is worth the effort.

I am not going to read the whole thread.
I do not like the new version.
I don't really care for any of it.
I am not going into details because I don't find anything in the new version that is worth switching for.

On the "New Topics" page, when the "replies" filter is selected, some numbers appear (see screen shot below). What do they represent?

I haven't had time to read all the comments in this thread so this may have been mentioned.

The first thing that appears not to work as before is the signature area. It seems to be smaller and it does not take the BB codes that it used to take.

Several of the smileys that used to work, even if they were not on the side, now do not work and in particularly the UP (
) and DN (
) for thumbs up and thumbs down are unrecognisable. Why has DN become PUZ???? Not the same thing at all!

Since I do not have a (graphical internet enabled) mobile or tablet, and have no intention of getting either, the progression of everything on the web towards these spy devices is abhorrent.

Trying to select the images in the other folders all I get is No 3. Not useful since that has very little of what I use normally.
