Remove the "," at the end of the link, for some reason the formatting of the forum picked that part up as part of the URL. It's the "Forums" link.

Here's the link again: www.abovetopsecret.com...

Man, I was bumming there for a few minutes as I couldn't log into the new site, but glad it was mentioned about copy and paste giving an extra space, fixed the problem for me.

Still loving the new design etc...off to explore the new site again!

As a side question with the new site, will we be able to eventually enter something under our profile about ourselves like the old site? Or is it just to see what threads/posts we have done now?

the idea is to emphasize the content you create in thread, not the profiles. As it stands i don't think there are plans to bring back the member wall, but SO could surprise you.

Just noticed - you might want to add a toggle to switch between CONSPIRACY and OFF-TOPIC.

There is.

On the recent posts page, the first icon in the set on the right is Conspiracy, so main ATS, the smiley is Off Topic/BTs.

1) While the number of in-bound new users (roughly 85% of all daily traffic) has remained relatively flat, the user-engagement (content/thread pages viewed) has been falling off for months.

2) Across the Internet, nearly all discussion boards are experiencing a very similar phenomena. The decline in engagement is seen everywhere, even in large long-established video game forums.

The reason, is relatively simple: the audience has changed. The percentage of people comfortable with the rigid/tight discussion board format is decreasing, while the percentage of people accustomed to the more open sensibilities of contemporary flat design is increasing. It's a clearly quantified (and has been) fact of life for online operators.

This is interesting, but the moderators are a huge part of this, there is a specialty forum I post too, I have been a member there for over a decade in fact it is the first forum I signed up for on the internet.
I used to create threads all the time, suddenly in the last year the mods began to lock my threads, after about 10, I gave up. I still post there occasionally but not like at ATS.
Always remember MODS have the power to really discourage new thread creation and input by it's members, let bad and duplicate threads sink into oblivion as they naturally do, never stifle the flow.

An example was a thread in the other place that had over 70,000 views was 33 pages long, and a mod suddenly locked it, the following disagreement caused an argument that got me temporarily banned. This causes exactly what you posted, because some members had said they were checking on that thread daily because they liked it so much.

ATS has been the best on the net for allowing this yet controlling things to a fair degree, but even here within the last couple months I had a thread erased into the trash bin, and I never thought it was justified, all MODs need to remember the more you do that with SENIOR members you enter the danger zone of them doing exactly what Sceptic posted.

I'm not a huge fan of the look. I feel kind of like the first time I saw Windows XP with all of the soft and rounded edges. It seems to work fine though. I just wish we could get the option to skip directly to a specific page in a thread. I hate having to jump to the last page and work my way back.

If you simply change the URL in the addressbar for a thread, you can jump to any page directly, such as:

OP page 1 (see bold red font)
http ://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread967142/pg1
Opens page 4 (see bold red font)
http ://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread967142/pg4

I understand that. Just most places have it with the pages numbers. Plus on mobile it is a bit harder.

Just curious, but it seems the "New" posts page no longer auto-updates.
Is this correct?
Is this intentional for the new format?

I had forgotten all about it until you just mentioned it, but I've actually come across that problem before on the older version of the site.

So yeah, the link works now, but that doesn't help you any. You already know the page is fine on Firefox.

Well I love it. Everything about it. At home I use a win8. At work I use a Kindle Fire. I just wanted to show you what the 5/3 is doing on my Kindle Fire.

The banner in the header works fine, but another banner "IKEA" shows up in the middle of page overlapping titles. So I refreshed the page. Again, the header banner worked fine, however this time it was a "Jeep" banner overlapping the thread titles.

Have no clue how many people use their Kindle Fires, but figured I would show you in case
I deal with a lot worse things than this on my Kindle.

Ah, ok.

The wall I won't miss to much, just like people to kind of know where I am coming from a little if they visit my profile, but I guess the threads do plenty of speaking for themselves..lol

There is a typo when you visit someones profile , it says "joind on:" instead of "joined on:" for a members start date....

Unless it is supposed to be that way, but don't see why..lol

Right now, I can simply switch back and forth between the older version and the newer version just by simply changing the 'www.abovetopsecret....' to 'www.abovetopsecret....'

So once the newer version is fully implemented or whatever, would there be any way possible for me to swap back to the old view?

It wouldn't bother me if I had to change my 'www.above....' into a '32.abovetopsecret....'

That would work while the old site is running, but unless the login on the mobile version is fixed people like me won't be able to login once the old site is disabled.

I just checked & there is still no way to log-in via my mobile phone. The menu option is there but nothing happens when it is clicked.

I've been reporting this login problem since the member beta test. Seems it is being overlooked. Which is concerning since this version was supposed to be mobile friendly.

Not that I plan on using my Kindle for ATS all that much, but 5/3 does work as far as I can tell....using Amazon's Silk browser.

I'm impressed with all of you who access ATS via mobile devices....my old eyes can't do it

Yeah it'll be fixed once the site launches totally. There was an issue with logins between the new and old yesterday, so that's the temp fix.
