Yeah, it's like they should pass out cookies and we should be having a tea party or something. It would be fine if it was a goody two shoe site, but it's ATS. Who on here is attracted to warm and fuzzy and wants to be cutesy?

I'm guessing that ATS have decided that since the world has gone mobile with phones and tablets that most users of the site probably access is via one of these devices and so may as well tailor the site to those people and the new members rather than laptop or desktop users (dinosaurs) I guess?

Also someone mentioned dumbing down, I'm guessing judging by the state of education both sides of the pond, ATS has to dumb down the site every few years to allow new members to use it.
Too many options and tabs is difficult, everything should be in large font and each thread should look like the "Messages" on your mobile/cell phone (which they do)

Rather than having a niche, specific site for conspiracy theories and alternate topics, it's now painted witha broad brush and has to appeal to the Facebook/Youtube/Twitter mentality of big bubbles of text and sparkly buttons and icons everywhere. Big flashing banners..... Instructions everywhere.

It's the way of the world sadly.

The internet is changing, for the worse.

Can't disagree with any of that.

My personal opinion is this diminishes the creative feel of ATS. The redesign doesn't blaze any new trails, but rather just joins the heard on existing ones...

Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

I suppose if you like plain uniform vanilla of the twiterverse and facebook, ATS did well.

Sweet! Always liked that bird. It was slow, it was ugly as hell, but great for the mission.

Some things that're good and some things that're bad. That's the thing about change they never tell you. But you know what, the ease to view the site on mobiles and the "modern" look make it more convenient for a lot more users and ultimately that's why it has made this change.

It seems to me mobiles and desktops are merging rather than staying separate. This makes me think of the internet and how it's possibly slowly merging all of our cultures into a global IT-spurred culture. Micheal Crichton's character Malcom talked a lot about this idea in the Jurrassic Park books.

Is there any possibility of abandoning this warm fuzzy stuff and going back to normal? It's just totally contradictory to what ATS is supposed to be.

Okay this is my last reply on here - seriously this is MESSING UP MY EYES. Meaning next time I go to my opticians I am sure if I continue my use of this site my eyes will get a whole lot worse. I am 110% positive.

I want to preserve my eye sight as I think I am a pretty valueable human being.

The smileys majorly suck, the buttons are too big and gaudy. It takes all the intelligence out of navigating and dumbs it down to the lowest common denominator. If we want a place to post stupidity, there's facebook and twitter. ATS is supposed to be about more than looking hip. It seriously degrades the quality of what ATS is supposed to be.
Hell, just go ahead and connect it to facebook, twitter, eharmony and give homework like we're in middle school. I'm seriously disappointed and I've enjoyed reading the site for years. It's a very big turnoff.

Why are you saying "go ahead" and do that.... ATS already did it!! A couple of years back.
They're on Twitter and ATS...it's linked now.

ATS-book has been in the making for about 3-4 years now... slowly but surely we will be just another social networking site and the threads and intelligent discussion will cease all together.

Okay, if you change the color scheme to gray, and press 'Ctrl -" a few times to make everything smaller it looks much better. I actually kind of like this a lot, just miss the smileys

Also, are stars still wonky or are they done?

Only two options and both options are for those with stronger eyes.

Indeed it doesn't last.. and if you complain, you're just old and set in your ways and resisting inevitable change.

ATS just looks like everything else now, it's slick, 2013, pop, cute, fun design.

We had a good run.
