No, I was wrong, they are not progressive stages.
I see the issue now.
Were those pics with those different filters taken in the order you have posted them?

These exposures were made while the telescope tracked the stars. Because of the motion of the comet and the motion of HST in its orbit around the Earth, the comet trailed slightly relative to the stars during and between these exposures. This is not the way comets are usually observed. Normally we would track on the comet to keep it stationary in the camera during the exposure. However, in this case we wanted to produce an image of the comet against a background clearly showing stars and galaxies.edit on 19-8-2013 by NeoParadigm because: (no reason given)

so let me ask this..
If the way this comet looks is just the way Hubble takes pictures, why does it not do it to all the other comet pictures of the past?
I am not trying to fuel the paranoid, I am just trying to compare this image with others...
I do not see anything else out there like this...

Its a comet at the magnification an contrast you have set it looks like three kids with sparklers doing downward short movements simoultanoiusly.
At the distance this comet is from us an the sun its starting to heat up gain an atmoshetere an eject gasses as it heats up an starts to gain its tail ect.
Its a large peanut shaped comment most probably an the three bright regions you see appearing as straight lines is just an awsume effect of three regions of the commett heating an ejecting more energetic gaseous substances than the other less active parts of otf its surface.
You can see the beginings of the tail developing to the left of the image.

That is as crazy as the story itself! How is this a personal story. Perhaps the Mod made a mistake.
See if it moves again. Unless the Mod wanted the story in a backwater!
P
I have seen other pictures of comets that have heated up and they are not symmetrical..the lighted regions from the comet's heated parts are blobular in shape..yes, i know blobular isnt a word, but it is now.

Well no they basically moved it to personal stories. The dust bin if you will.
