The reason these kids continue to have problems is because they are reminded about it all the time add that with the meds to get over it is not the answer, sitting around dwelling about someone you may have hurt in a accident is still not a good reason to collect a check unless there is a legit physical injury.

You should be happy with the current state of things then as jails are currently the first line of treatment for the mentally ill in the US.

But, oh, wait... tax dollars pay for that too - and this approach costs more than treating and helping them.

Crazy people should be institutionalized.

Not all of them are.

We need more of this though.

I am not a Doctor to Judge something like that.

Tell you this much. If I killed a child, on accident, I would have problems. For a while.

I don't understand this attitude of needing or wanting to help everyone... the road to hell is paved in good intentions. For all this "help" society wants to give, all it's done is give us the world's largest prison population, a bankrupt city, a failing education system, jobs shipped overseas for decades now, 17 trillion dollars in debt, 2-5 illegal wars, etc. This is what Government does when it's given a blank check and people still think more Government is the answer?

I brought up my PTSD because it's one of the 'invisible' disorders that nobody can really see.

That's convenient.

It's not convenient for me.

This isn't High School Gym Class, but that seems to be the mentality being thrown around here. Trust me, I wish I could just walk it off. I was in the hospital for 24 hours on a Nitro drip when my blood pressure skyrocketed. The doctors, the experts, couldn't even tell me why it happened. I'm still dealing with on and off blood pressure problems. But I'm working on it. And I'm doing better than most of my Doctors have done. But yet, they got paid. Should I have gotten paid for fixing myself?

There's corruption and incompetence on both sides. Don't just blame the patients.

If you don't want to give damn about the people in your society, maybe it's time for your society to not give a damn about you. You either belong to this society, or you don't. If you think someone needs a swift kick in their morale and ambition, then do it. But do it right. Not abusively. Teach and empower them, don't belittle them.

Those who refuse to learn from history are destined to repeat it.

Most people would have some issues with that it is human nature after all but sitting around dwelling will only make things harder and will change nothing.

If a crazy person as you so eloquently put it hasnt done anything wrong and has shown no disposition to violence then why should they have there freedom taken away?

If you are going to lock innocents up you better be willing to give them such amazing treatment it compensates there loss of freedom. Like top luxory treatment.

We're not going to save this country by shaming and humiliating our fellow citizens.

Oh good, then you're not going to criticize Tea Party groups and other conservatives or libertarians in an attempt to shame and humiliate them, like comparing them to Nazis.

Glad you're becoming more mature and politically aware.

Again, you cannot lump everyone's way of dealing with grief or loss..

The other aspect is if someone is dealing with prior issues before something devastating like this.

Clinical depression has been linked to other mental illnesses, such as anxiety disorders like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social phobia, and generalized anxiety disorder. Together, these conditions affect millions of Americans. Fortunately, these disorders are treatable, and those affected can lead normal, productive lives.

The Link Between Depression and Other Mental Illnesses

So many people "think" they dont need help. They let themselves go till its too late. I know plenty of people who refuse to seek medical help for many problems. I'm not making excuses, just telling you what I have observed.

Unfortunately Buster, if you would have read the initial post, OP agrees with what was said........

It seems that the Tea Party "patriots" have hit a new low, they are now going around neighborhoods posting lists on intersections of people on disability, food stamps and other welfare services. Folks, this is not how you save a nation.

See, he agrees that it is the Tea Party "patriots". No proof I might add.

Seeing my own self entering depression, my Father said to me,
Busy your hands, get your hands busy doing something.

That's been 30 odd years ago, and he is now gone.
But it is still some of the best dam advice I have ever had.

Back to topic;
I have no real problem with real Tea Party Patriots,
Especially those named Paul Revere...

I do have much problems with those who would use the guise of standing for the Constitution, and then have the idea of picking and choosing which parts get to remain, and which parts have to go.

I think there should be safety nets in the form of food stamps and SSI.
After all, we all pay into it, so why should we not be able to use it if calamity should befall one of us workers, or some of our family?

I do like the idea of simple drug tests to qualify one for SSI assistance.
I do think that has the potential to stop a lot of BS by those who would simply quit society and live off SSI payments. If one cannot pass a drug test, then they have to hunt out their own help, like using The Salvation Army and such, until the time that they can pass a drug test. SSI payments should never be used by those who buy drugs. And,,,Food stamps should not be allowed to be used at the same time one is buying beer, wine, or cigarettes.

Common sense stuff, really.

SSI repayment, well yes, if the individual gains employment grossing $45,000 a year, for a period of three consecutive years, then one should have to pay back every cent of the SSI, over time, in additional taxes, but without any penalties or interest fees.
(after all, SSI is help, and we do not need to make profit off of those who need help, the money only needs to be replaced to be used by others who may need it).

SSI eligibility should be re-evaluated every 90 days.

Tea Party? Hmmm, I consider myself a Patriot. That does mean that I believe the US Constitution is a marvelous instrument. One worth protecting against all enemies, both, foreign and domestic.

As it does appear that the worst terrorists in the world today, do reside in Washington DC,
so how do we protect it from them?

You have got to be heard. Your letter writing now, will be surely heard, as an off term election is fast approaching.
And, to be totally honest, both parties have recently stepped on their dicks so badly, it is anybodies guess as to how the game will play out in 2014.
I expect Hillary will show in 2016, and she will carry the female vote,
and likely the Hispanic and Black vote as well.

It is foolish to think otherwise.
There is work to be done...Hillary is bad news.
If you dislike Tea Parties,
flip it upside down, and you will certainly dislike Hillary.
tax tax tax, ol' taxn Hillary. Bigger government and even more entitlements/subsidies for our dime.
(by then, the penny and nickle will be gone)...

My issue with this approach is that these controls ( drug testing and in particular case reviews every ninety days ) would end up costing far, far too much. Medical review alone would require that a doctor or panel of doctors participate in each. While this is currently done for many or most during the application process, it is not cheap.

As for drug testing? Well this covers it fairly well.

This all ignores one fact that I find rather bothersome... Drug addiction is actually one of the sure fires ways to get disability. So much so that several years back my doctor passively ( couched in a joke ) suggested that I might consider a temporary drug habit simply as a means of getting myself approved.

Liberals Unite? Is that the new slogan replacing Workers of the World Unite?
I suspect that the note is a hoax by United Liberals to discredit the Tea Party. They've already done their damage. However, the behavior of Occupy really trumps anything that the Left can dream up as an attack on the Tea Party.

I mean cmon, the drugs the sex the pooping on cop cars and the signs demanding the end of Capitalism, all at the same time they are using their Iphones and other materialistic gadgets and items and getting donations for pizza off the Internet....and oh let us never forget the mic check.

@Neo96,

You might find this hard to believe -- so be sure to be sitting down when you read this -- I also don't support the public posting of peoples home addresses and such information.

What's more, I don't see anything in this letter that identifies it with a Tea Partier. Yes, it sounds like what some 'Baggers might do, but it is a jump to say that someone affiliated with said party did this.

As for your claim there is no National Tea Party, that doesn't quite seem to be the case:

The National Tea Party Federation.com

In addition, being that the Tea Party is, in effect, a wing of the Republican Party, with candidates funded by people like the Koch brothers, it is a de facto national political party.

Fox News uses the term "The Tea Party" so most folks realize that it is a national party/movement. If it doens't have a top-down organization -- so what? The platform for each Tea Party group is quite similar, state by state.

No doubt you'll tell me I am a political troll and that I should leave this thread -- as you are often want to do -- and that my points are false and purely political troll fodder.

Yeah, because it is proven to be from a tea party member or group.
Maybe read some posts about this, like there being no proof it was from a tea party member.
But, you go ahead and post THIER names alongside with the posted names if people on Govt handouts.

Sure sure
