it’s not like I’m just trying to win and get elected. I’m trying to change the course of history....history is on my side of this argument and the founders were right. Non-interventions, friends and trade with people, more prosperity and peace.

Hmm... well, it just dawned on me....do you think the WT is afraid of the UN??? Do they try to promote disdain for the UN? Or could it be that the WT is still secretly involved with the UN and could it be that the WT has an "undisclosed plan" of reformation for when "that day" comes?
“I Admired His Incredible Determination” GÜNTER GRASS, German author and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1999, published his autobiography in 2006. In it he describes the time when he was drafted into the German civil defense. In the same book, he tells of a man who made such an impression on him that it has stayed with him for over 60 years. That was a solitary figure who stood up for his faith under persecution. In an interview published in the daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Grass recalled this extraordinary person, who refused to take up arms. Grass said that the man “did not subscribe to any of the prevailing ideologies, being neither a Nazi, a Communist, nor a Socialist. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.” Grass does not remember the name of the Witness, whom he dubbed We-don’t-do-such-things. Researchers of Jehovah’s Witnesses identify the man as Joachim Alfermann. He was repeatedly beaten and humiliated, and then he was placed in solitary confinement. But Alfermann remained steadfast and refused to bear arms. “I admired his incredible determination,” Grass noted. “I asked myself: How can he put up with it all? How does he do it?” After enduring prolonged efforts to break his integrity to God, Alfermann was finally sent to the Stutthof concentration camp in February 1944. Liberated in April 1945, he survived the war and remained a loyal Witness of Jehovah until his death in 1998. Alfermann was one of some 13,400 Witnesses—in Germany and in countries occupied by the Nazis—who suffered reprisals because of their faith. They followed the direction of the Bible, remaining politically neutral and refusing to take up arms. (Matthew 26:52; John 18:36) Some 4,200 Witnesses were interned in concentration camps, and 1,490 lost their lives. Even today, the stand they took impresses many who do not share their faith but admire their steadfastness.
Hebrews 13:5-6 . . .Let [YOUR] manner of life be free of the love of money, while YOU are content with the present things. For he has said: “I will by no means leave you nor by any means forsake you.” 6 So that we may be of good courage and say: “Jehovah is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

The role of religious leaders has never been more important in helping to set a new direction for the human community. The World Council will encourage the religious traditions and the United Nations to work in closer cooperation in building a community of the world's religions to work for the benefit of the global family. In a fragile world that grows increasingly violent, we are coming together to further dialogue and to build a foundation of trust so that religious leaders can be an effective and powerful vehicle for peace.
The WCC calls for
1. bringing together the concerns of development and security. By seeking a common and inclusive approach involving the global South and the global North, there is a basis for moving towards a reformed United Nations; 2. a reform that empowers and strengthens the UN and achieves better representation so that the world organization can successfully address the global challenges facing humanity: wars, conflicts, nuclear arms, environmental degradation, AIDS and other diseases, under-development, extreme poverty and acts of terror;
3. a clear understanding that people in extraordinary peril have a right to protection and that if their own governments cannot or will not provide such protection, then the international community has the responsibility to try to provide it;
4. all countries to honour the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), particularly in implementing Goal eight: to "develop a global partnership for development";
5. 100 per cent debt cancellation for poor countries and an increase of Official Development Assistance, ODA, to the UN recommended level of 0.7.
6. full compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT); the State Parties to explicitly honour and comply fully with their commitments to disarmament; and accession of the Non State Parties to the Treaty. A condition for any new permanent membership in the Security Council should be a clear and verified status as a non-nuclear-weapon state;
7. the UN to maintain its responsibility to restrict and limit military force in the framework of international law and as reflected in the UN Charter, and not give room for the possibility of pre-emptive military action based on article 51;

And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues. For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind.

Alethea - I'm surprised you haven't figure this one out.
If as you say "the WT is still secretly involved with the UN and could it be that the WT has an "undisclosed plan" of reformation for when "that day" comes?"
Then why is it that ONLY Jehovah's Witnesses have the courage and the strength in exposing the "image of the beast". They've been doing this since it's inception - before it was even called United Nations. It was Jehovah's Witnesses who proclaimed that the League of Nations will fail only to be replaced by another world organization.
