Odd that you call him far right. From my understanding UKIP is relatively centrist. Conservatives have said in the last series of elections that if you vote UKIP you get Labor, and Labor party has said if you vote UKIP you get Conservative.

A party that is effectively four years old is now tied with Labor in terms of popularity. It's rather telling.

Even Cameron has started to mimic UKIP's platform lately to try and bring voters to his side.

Farage has imposed a strict rule on Ukip admission forbidding anyone who has ever been involved with the BNP from becoming a member; last month the party withdrew its support for a local election candidate after discovering she had once been, in her words, "duped" into joining the BNP.

Is Nigel Farage right? As in "right of centre"? Very much so. Farage is a classic libertarian who has publicly endorsed the decriminalisation of drugs and prostitution. His party disagree with him on that one but they think he's right – as in "correct" – about leaving the EU, imposing tighter controls on immigration, quitting the European convention on human rights, expanding the army reserves and the navy's fleet of surface combat vessels and opposing same-sex marriage. As, according to last week's numbers, do 23% of those who voted in the local election.

I'm not versed in English politics so I don't know the guy.

But I've seem some of his stuff on Youtube about wanting the UK to leave the Union.

The main issue we have with people like this is their immigration policy, but you raise an interesting point - A lot of them are Tories in disguise. Cameron is desperate for the attention this lot are getting right now.

I'm sorry OP but you are dreadfully biased, if the EU continue to rape our United Kingdom we will no longer be a United Kingdom, just another EU province.

Additionally, unchecked migration will wreck havoc on our culture. Just look at the migrant communities in London, Birmingham, Manchester etc etc..

Sad. That lot are an embarrassment for Scotland.

I wonder how much of the outrage bus rent a mob have actually read the UKIP policies. There is nothing racist in there.

They called him a racist, nazi and a facist and shouted down his attempts to openly debate them and then told him to go back to england...

they acted in a manner consistent with their accusations towards him. a seriously poor choice in slogans and tactics.

He's very charismatic, I'll give him that. He's apparently good friends with Ron Paul and has invited him to attend and present at various speaking engagements. Some consider Ron Paul right wing, but if you actually look at the policies he stands for, he's rather centrist, too.

There's a difference between a conservative outlook and a republican ideology and theres a difference between a liberal outlook and a democrat ideology. What's bizzare is that if you look at both US party's ideologies, they fail logic tests on almost every position they take on any given issue because they almost always take a different position on a different but fundamentally identical issue. Both US parties are perfectly wrong mixes. The same can be said for parties in the UK.

I'm a bit bemused by this...Farage is one of the few people who actually talks sense about the EU and calls it for what it is. I can only assume that this protest against him is largely the result of anti-English sentiment, and I can understand that too....I'm not a fan of the UK union myself, but I'm even less enamoured of the EU.

Ok....I will admit I did have a bit of a giggle at the name of the Aberdeen Donside candidate they're fielding...Otto Inglis...I mean really....they didn't think that one through at all, did they?

The only guy with the balls to stand up to the EU, not a bad guy in my opinion.

Interesting. From a historical perspective, controlled immigration has been hugely beneficial for host societies. However, from that very same perspective, uncontrolled immigration has almost always been catastrophic, not only economically, but culturally. In many cases the rise and fall of great empires and nations can be rather well explained by the migration of people.

UKIP otherwise United Kingdom Independence Party. Those protestors where probably Scottish Nationalists who don't want a United Kingdom. That doesn't take much working out does it?

The EDL are the "respectable" face of muslim hating, ukip is a totally diffrent kettle of fish. Yes it has racist members but they are the minority of the party and quickly shown the door if found.

I'm no supporter of the EDL. Thugs who only marginalize their position. What's interesting to note, however, is that there is such a thing as the EDL and that so many people belong to it officially and unofficially. It's a rather telling symptom of the society when groups like that generate so quickly to such sizes. I think it means that in general, people are rather upset in their society, for one reason or another. The fact that England has an EDL is more important and informative than the EDL and its members/workings itself.

Yes you are right, it is clear to see that if you stand up for British whites your not a good person, yet if you say you support Muslims you are a hero, it's the same with BBC TV & Radio they will keep a story live for weeks if it's anto British, but if a Muslim group of men rape our girls it makes news for a max of 2 hours.
British people must stop paying BBC now, it no longer represents the UK in any way.

tarring all, most or even meny ukip supporters as racist a huge generalization and this kind of steryotyping just causes more divisions.

If there was this much support for racism it would be the bnp picking up most if not all of the support not ukip.
