But even that is just the tip of the iceberg. At its simplest form, one could explain the gaping hole in the games' logic thusly: If every single debt in the history of the world was reduced by half, from the lowliest payday loan, rent or mortgage, gallon of milk or automobile note - all the way up to CDS's, ICAPS's and the like -- nothing real would change hands, and we would suddenly be flush with "credit." There wouldn't even be a deficit crisis.
Those at the top manipulate ICAP and Libor because the law of large numbers makes them the defacto "owner" of everything and everyone, and they LIKE it that way.
It is as fake and meaningless as a game of monopoly, except for the deadly serious consequences down here at street level.

With all due respect, those appointed to government (or elected in imaginary elections) ARE the banks. They come directly from the banks. Their campaigns are financed directly by the banks, and if we get wise and throw them out - they go right back TO the banks, or to lobby for the banks.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the best and brightest among us that there was some kind of difference between the "government" and the "banks."

So we should still pay the gov to go round the world killing and torturing innocent people? I like all your other ideas though but why not add refuse to be stolen from?

We are largely in agreement about the problem. I just see your solution (everyone stop paying them!) as far-fetched and fantastical as you see mine (50% jubilee on all debt)..
The vast majority will continue to support the system against all logic and reason until the hand they kiss is slitting their throat for them. Even then, most will just smile and say "thank you."
