If a terrorist is running around my town shooting cops and tossing bombs...I would cut the PD a little slack on the "probable cause" front. They aren't kicking in doors...they are knocking and talking.

If you hear something on the scanner feed mark down the time. I wouldn't be surprised if someone is recording this, or maybe it will archive via ustream. That way if there are questions about what was said there will be a time reference to find it in the recording.

Does anyone have the scanner link at hand. Would love to listen but don't want to scroll back 200 pages. Thanks

I agree with you that it was good to open this thread to inform the people of what is going on, specially the ones that for one or other reason need to be in MIT or its surroundings.

However, after all this necessary action to recover the calm and tranquility of Boston, I think it is good to meditate on what all these facts mean:

This is a tragedy that again force us to reflect deeply on why we are once more affronting this kind of situations in the academic community of US?

Why we are dealing periodically with the same kind of stuff? Just two weeks ago it was a massacre in Lone Star College in Texas, and we have not yet recovered of that terrible incident when suddently this tragedy exploits in Boston.

Why we have these mad fanatized students that are killing a lot of innocent people?

Why after six long years, recalling the Massacre of Virgina Tech, and along two different administrations we have not seen the end of these horrible acts?

One of my first questions, and I am sure probably many of you are right now perhaps asking the same one is:

How many more of these same tragedies are needed to happen to understand that we have a problem, that
there are needed more controls?

This Student was even applying to be member of the Olympic wrestling team of the USA, could you imagine that?

It is so dificult to understand that in spite of the lack of weapons control also there are US authorities granting student visas to people coming from areas in which we know by sure there is Islamic extremism, from communities that are under political fanatism living chronically.

How a student coming from a region that has extremely clear ties with Terrorism could come to the USA to Study in a University without being carefully checked in their background?
