What's the deal with the no-fly zone? To conceal police activity, or are they concerned about something else?

There was a concern the suspects may have rockets (which could endanger other aircraft).

He has a police radio probably stolen out of the police SUV they stole.

I've been telling people that the cops need to STFU on the radio and use code words or have frequency switches every hour or something. If he's listening, he can purposefully throw them off his trail.

I listened to the entire Christopher Dorner shootout on the scanner, and LAPD was surprisingly more professional. A few cases of "hot mics" here and there -- but for the most part the only cops talking were the ones that absolutely needed to.

The assumption is the guy is thick, he's not, I think the MIT plan went wrong, for some reason, but he and his brother had a fall back position which was compromised by the police leading to the shoot out. Maybe the older brother held off the law while the kid ran away.

It might be comforting to think that crazy murderers are easily identifiable but many times they're otherwise normal decent person. A scary reality that people ought to confront.

Maybe, but it's become a cliche now after anyone does something extreme.

No doubt, but I think the reality is probably the family doesn't know better. Lets say you are crazy and sick in the head, even still you probably try to keep it on the down low rather than letting your family know you're a loony

I agree about the family, but to be honest anytime my friends were in a bad way I knew about it. Whether they were contemplating suicide or what not, friends should see that. Just my opinion, humble opinion.
