I know that, I remember the school attack and the theatre too. But this has never involved the USA. There is no clear reason why Chechen terrorists would travel to the USA to carry out an attack against US citizens. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

If it's a religiously based group then I can kind of understand a motive, but without that it really doesn't make any sense for two young radicalised Chechen guys to travel all the way to the US on scholarships to attack a nation that has never attacked them. Why not just attack Russia? - Closer, cheaper, quicker, and actually hits a relevant target too.

They already did once and literally bombed Grozny back into the stone age. As far as the extremists in that area of the world Russia and the U.S. are both evil. To them an infidel is an infidel, no matter what nationality they are. Actully in a way bombing the U.S. makes sense, it brings attention and focus back to Checnya area.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking, I'm surprised he ran though, seems like from the beginning they weren't bothered about getting caught other wise why were they still in the area and so nonchalant about placing the bombs in a place with so many cameras and cctv.

The Fox News Channel just stated that the police and military are setting up for "what may be the long haul".

Chechens often consider America an enemy, in solidarity with parts of the more radical Muslim world. A lot of Chechens have travelled to Iraq and, more commonly, Afghanistan to fight America.
