There is always something left after an explosion goes off get a few or enough pieces they can make an "educated" guess.
After all that is what they do for a living.

Radio detonators is the most dangerous means of setting off explosives there is a reason why in blasting areas they tell people to turn off "all radios" because of accidental detonation.,
