I'm completely aware of the things you say I 'should check out'. It is YOU who need to study/learn the history of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. You are woefully lacking in actual knowledge and perception of the topic.

I already know those things. YOU are denouncing everyone else who is approaching God to the best of their ability, and 'schooling' them. (Yeah, I point out fallacies in thinking, too, but I have NEVER condemned anyone!)

We know the Gospel teachings! YOU, apparently, are the one who has missed the memo.
There are as many paths to God as there are people.

And God is NOT a punitive, jealous, angry tyrant. YOU are making things worse by your behavior on the forums.
In my view.

Stop condemning others - it will NEVER get you anywhere, nor will it convert people to YOUR way of thinking. Ever.
It's wrong. So, again, stop it.

There is only one path to God and it is narrow.

Yes, AND THAT PATH is Love, Tolerance, Acceptance, and Compassion.
Doesn't matter how a person practices that, or who they revere. If they are doing those things, they are already on their way.

So again, please stop judging the beliefs of others and telling them they are condemned. You are mistaken, and causing damage.

People become Catholic or Protestant because they love tradition over truth.

That isn't biblical. Jesus said no man could come to Him unless the Father first draw that man. And He said in John 15:16 that we didn't chose Him, but He chose us and to go and produce fruit and that fruit should remain.

No man can have faith in Christ unless drawn by the Father and that faith given to a man by grace.

Catholics and Protestants don't have faith in Christ. Rejection of repentance and baptism in the name of Christ is evidence.

Um. That's not the gospel, the gospel is located in 1 Corinthians chapter 15. And repentance is also a gift of the Holy Spirit.

The path is Jesus Christ. If you want to be intolerant of His message, you are welcome to continue judging and condemning me, but it won't stop me.

You have been hanging around elitist haters like Reckart for so long that you don't even know the meaning of the word. It's become "normal" to you, but you will one day bow before Christ and he will ask you why you lied about his followers.

The PATH is WHAT HE TAUGHT about how to behave towards others!!
I am not condemning you, Dude, I am telling you that you have no place to tell others how to reach out to the Message of Jesus. His MESSAGE is the only thing that really matters, and YOU are the one judging and condemning others, not me!!

Dear Snsoc,

First, I would like to ask for your prayers and for those of anyone else seeing this. Several of my closest friends, my mother, and my daughter, and I are having unusually difficult times both mentally and physically. We all need God's peace and love, some of us need bodily healing, and some need help with our thoughts and emotions. Thank you and be assured of my prayers for you and those you care about.

One question: some Protestant churches have "accountability" circles, where Christians confess their sins to each other. Would this be "just as good" in your opinion, or does it require the Apostolic authority?
While someone could just answer with two words, that's beyond my abilities. (I'm a wordy son of a gun.)

Does an accountabilty circle include the entire congregation? If so, then I can only see it as useful if a sin was committed against the church as a whole. Say, the treasurer embezzling the church funds. Other than that, I don't see it. Of course one should seek forgiveness from anyone the action hurt, but there's still God's forgiveness to obtain.

Perhaps an accountability circle is just a small group of people. Suppose a group of 6 men with a gambling problem get together to work jointly on healing themselves. I can see where it would do a fair bit of psychological good, but as a sacrament or a reconciliation with God? I just don't understand it.

The question of confessing to a priest instead of to any member of the church, seems to depend on the question of authority, as you have pointed out. It's pretty clear that Jesus gave that authority to the Apostles, and it's quite reasonable to assume it was passed to the Apostles' successors, but beyond that? There doesn't seem to be any reason in the Bible or Church Tradition to think that just any believer can absolve us from sin.

Besides, just as a practical matter, I've never found it difficult to find a priest for confession. Why not play it safe and stick with people who clearly have the authority.

With respect,
Charles1952

No one is rejecting the Apostles. I'm, personally, rejecting elitist haters like Reckart, the cult that he leads, and the lies that you have all fallen for.

Enjoy your "salvation by works, and works alone" approach, works like not letting women cut their hair, not wearing short sleeve shirts and your magic spells and incantations. Hope it all works out for you.

I have never condemned you. Go and sin no more. Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:37-39 (KJV)
37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

If you continue in sin, you condemn yourself.

You reject the apostles when you go against them on repentance and baptism.

You should really stop lying. It is not good for your soul.

I'm done arguing with you -- you're in a cult, and no amount of intelligent discourse can seem to shake your brainwashing. On the occasions where you've been shown, conclusively, that you're wrong, you either run away or complain that you didn't say what you really did.

You're in a cult. Wake up, before it's too late.

I never said it was the Gospel.

Then it doesn't save a man's soul. The gospel of Jesus Christ is what reconciles men to God.

I appreciate your honesty that what you said isn't the gospel.

You said earlier, quite clearly, that Protestants and Catholics were wrong, and implied quite strongly that they are already 'condemned.'

I think you are confused profoundly, and are in a tailspin of not understanding what Jesus' message was.

It's the classic conflict of someone who delights in judging others, in order to feel better about themselves, and is then ever so annoyed when someone brings up the "judge not lest ye be judged" stuff.

Amazing how someone can claim to follow Christ, and then ignore him at every possible opportunity.

Dear truejew,

I thank you for your sympathy. I'm torn between appearing weak by making excuses and asking for help, and reaching out for the prayers and kind thoughts of some people I've come to know (a little).

But, truejew, I've got to ask you, how did you got into this mess? Adjensen will get a little hot if he gets poked enough, but he really knows a lot and is quite reasonable and logical. Wildtimes has got to be one of the most, if not the most, kind and accepting people around (and she's got a pretty decent historical background as well).

If I found myself irritating them both, at the same time, I would step back and say something like "Blast, I've really gone wrong here somewhere. I'd better back up and rethink things." Of course, you can do whatever feels right to you, and my opinion doesn't count for much, but both of these guys have been around and are really good people.

So, what was it? Perhaps:

Catholics and Protestants don't have faith in Christ. Rejection of repentance and baptism in the name of Christ is evidence.
Yeah, I can see where you'd ruffle a few feathers with that. Is it a fair statement? I have faith in Christ (in my weak way), repentance is vital to me, and I was baptized in the name of Christ (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, if I remember correctly, but I was young at the time
) I think that earns me a spot on the team, and I would think at least a billion people would be on the same team.

Maybe you're not getting your point across? Again, I'm not you, but if I were I think I'd snap off a quick apology and try again.

With respect,
Charles1952
