I never said I was living in fear.
I just find it amusing that most people on ATS believe one threat, then doubt the next one. If N.K isn't a threat, why is there multiple topics on here about it? Why are American and S.K leaders taking him seriously, and the public isn't?

American leaders are NOT taking him seriously. senators or congressman, or any other random people in government can say whatever they want, but they aren't in charge, they are basically nobody in relation to NK. The important government bodies are worried about NK selling weapons to terrorists, and the threat NK poses to SK and a few other close areas, that's about it. They view NK just as most normal people do, that NK is stupid, crazy, but incredibly impotent, when it comes to their ability to damage the USA.

You really think if the government was taking lil kim seriously they would just be sitting on their hands? If someone threatens to nuke your country, and you take them seriously, you actually do something, they aren't doing anything.

And china will not fight against the US in ANY obvious way. Why? Because the second they do, the US wipes 100% of their debt to China. China makes one single move against the US, and the US wont continue upkeep on loans or bonds, china making any move against the US would only screw China over, and actually help the US.

And before anyone talks about china invading the US to recoup its money, no.... just no. Anyone who knows anything of tactics and logistics knows it's literally impossible for china to get enough people onto US soil to even win a battle, let alone occupy the country and take back anything its owed.

If ANYTHING happens with NK, it will either be NK shelling a small area or shooting a few people, and then stops, just like all the other times. Or NK and SK fight it out, with US offering SK support, and china offering NK some support, but not actually engaging in battle themselves. If china actually puts troops into NK to fight against US troops, the US can leave whenever the want, and like I said will stop paying china any money.

why would china make a move that would rob them of large sums of money for no gain whatsoever?

I believe they take them fairly serious. I saw a missile launch must have been a test in an out of the way west coast place (not going to say where) so i believe this is already done.

WASHINGTON—The Pentagon will spend $1 billion to expand the West Coast-based missile-defense system in a direct response to provocations by North Korea and rising tensions on the Korean peninsula, officials said Friday.

The United States said it was sending its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System to Guam in the coming weeks. The move to deploy the missile defense system comes in response to continued heated rhetoric from North Korea. The BBC reports:

Fox News just posted that the US believes the missle launchers are mobile:

US officials tell Fox News that there is intelligence that North Korea is moving around mid-range mobile missile launchers, indicating a possible test launch. The Pentagon is closely watching the situation.

South Korean Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin dismissed reports in Japanese and South Korean media that the missile could be a KN-08, which is believed to be a long-range missile that if operable could hit the United States.

All this talk about a nuclear war scares me

I live in a town near austin soo I will get hit?

From an NK missile? No. The ONLY way NK will detonate a nuke on US soil is if it is smuggled in, terrorist style....that's it. That's the only real nuclear or biological threat from them to those in the US. However, that in and of itself, is a real enough threat...but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Your chances of hitting the lotto are likely better.

DPRK’s “State of War” Declaration Is a Faulty Translation: Not an Official Policy Statement from Kim Jung Un

Here is an interesting article I just found concerning the possibility of faulty translation of Kim Jung Un's statements; If we're misinterpreting his words, what is Western press actually doing? These miswritings could be considered continued provocations..

Here's the article:

Defcon 4

Heres info:

While there is no demonstrable threat to the United States itself, any war in Korea does have the potential to become a limited nuclear conflict. We repeat: *** There is no credible threat to the United States *** However, any nuclear conflict will significantly affect public perception, and may cause a run on supplies. Additionally, fallout from any nuclear detonation will reach the U.S. mainland within a couple days if less, depending on winds. Based on the type of nuclear weapons that will likely be used in any conflict, radiation reaching the U.S. will probably be minimal and cause no significant health hazard. Nevertheless, proper precautions are always advised. We wish to emphasis that this is merely a precautionary advisory considering a "worst-case" scenario which may not and probably will not happen. At this time, there have been no troop movements by North Korea which would indicate preparations for an attack.

I found great amusement reading Little Kim's state news directly.....what a riot the crap they tell their people.

Here's an article from yesterday.

Hostile Forces Should Not Misjudge DPRK's Will to Annihilate Enemies: DFRK Chairman Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- The chairman of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea (DFRK) released a statement on Wednesday.

The statement said: I fully support the resolute and patriotic important decision made by the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un to defend the dignity and sovereignty of the country and the decision adopted at the March, 2013 plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and will work hard to put them into practice.

The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean military warmongers' madcap war exercises aimed to ignite a nuclear war against the DPRK has entered the practical step, after going beyond the danger line, the statement said, and went on:

The hostile forces should not misjudge the will of the army and people of the DPRK to annihilate enemies. We will lose only the Military Demarcation Line and the wall of division from the sacred war of justice and gain national reunification, the lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and the eternal prosperity of the nation.

Humankind will clearly see how the Korean people united by dint of justice, truth and patriotism win a great victory and how the U.S., empire of evil, and its stooges meet ruin. We strongly call on all the Koreans at home and abroad to turn out as one in the sacred war to bring without fail the bright day of national reunification after sweeping away the harassers of peace, provocateurs of war and confrontation maniacs from this land.

We are firmly convinced that world progressive people, political parties, organizations and figures of all countries aspiring after independence against imperialism will pay deep attention to the developments on the Korean Peninsula and extend full support and solidarity to the just sacred war of the Korean nation who turned out in the anti-U.S. resistance to defend the peace and security of the world.

Those poor isolated people have no clue about the rest of the world and what their "dear respected leader" might bring down on them.

How do you know? Did you ever travel into NK and talk to the officials there about their technology?

The US only has knowledge from observations. Who knows if they are correct or not.

It's like saying that you know what secret technology the US has in Area 51 because an FBI agent told you

Silly thing is we haven't stopped their nuclear goals and have probably strengthened their resistance with a self-righteous condescension.

You assume that we control their behavior? Perhaps we are trying to control it. Who wouldn't with all their saber-rattling. But again, you think that all we have to do is back off and they will just stop what they are doing? That sounds just like the same dangerously naïve Progressive trend that I've heard over and over on these boards.

Just a word. Nanny Statism IS control, regardless of the so-called good intentions. N Korea isn't even a good Nanny State since they are just overtly controlling and authoritarian. But then this is what Communists do. If there wasn't so much resistance in the US against Communism, it would be the same. The nice Nanny mask would come right off.

I'd highly question the accuracy of that site. Until a day or so ago, it's last update was middle of March. Also, we've probably been at DEFCON 4 since this whole thing started. Even during 911, we only went to DEFCON 3. It would pretty much take NK starting an attack to change this. Our THREATCON status is pretty normal too (like DEFCON, but for terrorism).

Just to add my conspiracy-fear-mongering thought:

NK knows we all see that rocket they moved and prepare to launch. They know the whole world is waiting to see that thing firing up. Isn't that exactly what they want us to see?
My guess would be something else is happening while all eyes are on that rocket they paraded today. Is there any credit to all those reports about mini subs that left NK a couple of weeks ago? Wasn't there some NK general stating they will use "small", "new generation" nuclear devices to hit the enemy?

I generally don't share dreams on the forum, mainly because I seldom remember them, but last night's was really weird. I and a bunch of people I didn't know were at a wedding reception out in the middle of nowhere and we were standing with the bride beside a barn like structure. At some point the bride said she'd be right back and went into the barn. Shortly after that the ground started shaking violently and there were horrible explosions all around us but at what seemed like quite a distance away. Then the bride came running out of the barn screaming that she'd accidentally pushed the wrong button. I jerked wide awake thinking about North Korea, although I have no idea why.

I agree with you that something besides what is being paraded in front of us may be a diversionary tactic.

Here's an interesting take on the "nuclear" question relative to North Korea. The premise is that the leaders of NK would rather nuke the peninsula than face the fate of recently defeated leaders like Saddam Hussein and Muammar al-Qaddafi should they start a "conventional" war by shooting something.

The author's idea to prevent that is to make sure these NK generals and leaders know they won't get the rope neck tie if they capitulate and surrender after starting a war they can never win.

The $64,000.00 question is whether they would be sane enough to believe the message?

About a possible missle test launch.

On topic:

Kim Jun-Un is playing a very dangerous game here nuke the US?

That would seal his fate.

They mistranslated a war declaration, and the US moves stuff to Guam.. okay.

The video has an Asian man talking about the statement, Hope he isn't mistranslating too...

Someone better tell Britain before they do something rash.. Oh wait Britain fires back at North Korea: Rogue state warned it faces 'further isolation' after declaration of war against the South

Never mind...

I found a Wikipedia entry on this. It says that the Soviet Union refused to cooperate with the UN plans to hold free elections.

What's new. The Soviet Union was Communist and they wanted to expand Communism far and wide. As usual though, the Progressive mindset is that the US is just as bad as those creepy old Communists.

However, I will say that the UN is a tool of Globalism.
