On the bright side of the issue.

That will be one less person hoarding bullets from the local stores.
Anyone who has tried to purchase ammo knows the shelves are empty.
I don't mean slim pickings, I mean totally empty. Check your local Wally World.

It's hearing things like this that make me glad my grandfather was such a forward thinker. All of our intel shows that the cave is still of the radar and left just for us. Good luck to the rest of you and I hope you find a safe place.

4 shotguns and 3 rifles? Since Sandy Hook I've purchased 79 rifles, most of which are AR15s, and over 3 thousand magazines. I've purchased 400,000 rounds of ammunition for them. I've purchased slings, holographic weapon sights, replacement bolts, extractors and numerous springs that are prone to failure. I've spent over 700,000 dollars all together in the last year alone on firearms and ammunition.

They raided this guy over 4 shotguns, and 3 rifles.

Every raid carried out like that is training for 'the big one' so, yes, 150 goons are needed, make sure 'they' can keep out of each others way, everyone knows their job, and all done in the 'right' order.

If xedocodex has anything to do with it, you will do hard time for possessing that weapon of mass destruction.

And let's face it, it is possible that some members here work for the Feds.

Why do you have a problem with enforcing the law???

This man is a felon...he legally can not own those guns. Don't you guys always talk about enforcing the gun laws that we already have???? Then why do all of you bitch about it when it happens.

And yep...you caught me...I work for the feds

Hi there, paragon.

What you must have missed is the fact that I was addressing joeyv23's question about a firearm and his fears.
Is joeyv23 a felon? You seem to think so, according to your reply.
I didn't say that you worked for the feds, but then you know that.

I do remember well when a member here at ATS was caught and outed as a Federal employee. He was subsequently banned.

I doubt that he is the only federal employee that was/is a member.

Since I didn't blame you for being a Fed, maybe you should have just left that one float on by. A real Obama cyberwarrior wouldn't have acknowledged it.

See, I don't think that you are a Fed.

The Federal gun law is that no felon can own a gun.

Did you know that Federal law also prevents people with certain misdemeanors from ever owning a firearm?

Check it here: smartgunlaws.org

So... if two 18 year old twin brothers get in a fight at home, and a neighbor calls the cop, in a state where someone must be charged in cases of domestic violence, one or both will never be allowed to own firearms again.
They don't need to be arrested just get cited for a misdemeanor and handed a ticket.

Any members ever fought with a sibling?

A more sane less hair on fire report.
Guy turned himself in.
For some reason he was prohibited from owning guns.
Swat teams were training in the area.

Not nearly as fun as the gubiment is coming.

So, the reality was that he was raided because he is a felon in possession of guns.

This has little to do with him being a prepper.

One way to look at it...however, the real dangerous part of it, is that they spent the time and resources to send an undercover officer there, posing as a customer, before ever even knowing of this (possibly trumped up) drug charge...just because of an anonymous tip.

When we have another nutcase decide he's Jesus. If Koresh was Jesus, we proved we would kill him all over again.

I'm a prepper, but I don't own ANY firearms, as I am a convicted felon. However, I do use other stuff, like my bow and crossbow. You think my home should raided because I admit I am a pepper and hate Obama and his administration? I should have all my cases of MREs and other survival food and gear confiscated?
There ARE other ways to defend yourself without a firearm

What don't you get about this? This guy was commiting a crime because he owned a gun...not because he was a "prepper".

But look at you...still trying to be internet Rambo. If you ever give the police a reason to raid your home...yes...I would suggest they go in with a force because you seem a tad bit unstable in your rhetoric.

sorry, you'd have to prove that one with US Code not propaganda.
fyi, when a prior felon has their rights restored, that includes owning a firearm except in certain cases.

First of...you are just flat out wrong. By federal law it is illegal for a felon to own a firearm....period....no exceptions. Nothing is restored to them unless done so by the state, which the federal law allows. Maryland does not provide that unless by a pardon...I don't think this guy got a Governor pardon. If you think he did...prove it.

Plain and simple...this guy was commiting a crime...why do you have a problem with them enforcing the law?

Maryland is not enforcing Federal gun laws.

Ummmm...yes...they were. The Maryland officers were assisting the FBI agents in enforcing federal law. What don't you get about this?

please, keep your argument fluent ... and cite the foundation for your 'opinion' or it shall be disregarded as mere opinion.

Here is the US code concering felons owning firearms...go educate yourself.

codes.lp.findlaw.com...

does your personal pocketbook support this "opinion" ??

if so, pony up ... we've foot the bill long enough

I pay plenty of taxes...if I had a say in where they went I would do it.

I beleive federal law prohibits anyone who has been convicted with a prison term of more than one year owning a gun.

Certain States have laws to re-instate gun rights which is allowed by the federal law.

I have no problem with this law except the part about States being able to re-instate their rights...I don't think you get a second chance with guns. You screw up once...and too bad...you are no longer trustworthy with a gun.

By federal law it is illegal for a felon to own a firearm....period....no exceptions.

That seems to be a bit questionable.

Under federal law, people with felony convictions forfeit their right to bear arms. Yet every year, thousands of felons across the country have those rights reinstated, often with little or no review. In several states, they include people convicted of violent crimes, including first-degree murder and manslaughter, an examination by The New York Times has found.

It's not in question at all...by Federal Law...yes...it is illegal.

Did you miss the part where I said that States can re-instate their rights if they have laws on the books???

Maryland is not one of those States and this man did not have his rights re-instated.

So why continue this false argument. The guy was commiting a crime...why try to defend him?

But I don't have to worry about a violent felon being released into a world full of other dangerous things?
Like motor vehicles, knives, compound bows, crossbows, hatchets, axes, machetes, swords, switchblades, steak knives, baseball bats, iron pipes, slingshots, flame throwers, gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, acid, fertilizer, glass bottles, pointy wooden sticks, poisons too numerous to mention and ROCKS.

People convicted of violent felonies, then released into the public after serving their sentence can't be trusted with guns.... but can be trusted with all the dangerous things on the list above?

I didn't miss the part where YOU said NO EXCEPTIONS, did I?

By federal law it is illegal for a felon to own a firearm....period....no exceptions.

So I provided you with some.

No exceptions by Federal Law.

This isn't hard to understand.

You are really trying hard to find something to disagree about.

How about staying on topic? This guy was committing a crime...why defend him???

You are the one saying no exceptions, then dragging it out when someone shows you exceptions.

You get it, right?
When you say NO exceptions, that means there aren't any.
Then when you see that there are exceptions, you drop it.
K?

There are no FEDERAL exceptions...zero...zip...zilch.

I love how you are trying to deflect the topic though.

Someone owned firearms ILLEGALLY...and they were dealt with appropriately. But you have to find something to disagree with the "anti gun" people...so you desperately try to find any little thing to argue over...and it is hilarious.

Federal law makes it illegal for him to own a gun...Maryland has no law to reinstate those rights....he is a criminal and got what he deserved.
