Winter is Coming....

We covered Dubrovnik. Did most of it. Loved the old shops. Got lots of pictures. Some of the Game of Thrones scenes are in places that we had been. It's really cool to think that we walked the same steps that the characters are walking now.

Medjugorje ...I remember it being quaint (1991 May/June?) Lots of houses. Some sidewalk type restaurants. a bunch of religious trinket shops. St. James church and the school seemed to be the biggest buildings when we were there.

Croatia coast ... beautiful. The high steep mountains with snow right next to the ocean.

(when we were there, the MIGS were flying overhead and the airports had soldiers with machine guns. Military choppers were buzzing medjugorje. You could feel war breaking out)

I know, my sister, cousin and I crossed into Austria in the early summer, with a guilt I feel to this day. Leaving my cousins and family I stayed with to live through the siege of the city in October.

On the 26th, I said,

Things I think we'll see....
1) Bran talk to Reek (Theon) through the tree
2) Cersai's shaming, and the one guy's creation as her champion
3) Stannis take out the Boltons (likely using his daughter, after a really bad defeat)
4) Tyrion bring Dani up to date, and join her as council
5) Dani getting control of her dragons again
6) Large battle with the Wyldlings, Jon Snow, and the White Walkers
7) Final scene - white raven arrives, with the announcement that this means Winter is here.

1. Maybe on the last episode of the season? (though Bran has been largely absent, so may have just ditched this storyline)

I should have added in Arya killing the guy sent to Braavos, but didn't think of it at the time. I still think a Stannis/Sansa pairing is in the cards...though I don't think it will be this season.

I love the way the show is going, even better than the books storywise, to me....

The books are far worse tbh.

An example of the great acting in this show though...when Tyrion watched Dani on the dragon. He said no words, but his acting skill said it all.... Right then, you knew Tyrion was witnessing a game changer, as well as assuring himself that he is picking the right ruler to support. Was damn awesome.

I didn't see Jorah redeeming himself though. That was a nice unexpected twist. I had assumed his stint was done.

It was a great scene. I would liked to have seen Dani enveloped in flame, i think that was important in the connection with her dragon as rider.

So, what will we see in the finale? (possible Spoiler alert)



Hoping my above predictions are true, but also likely....

From the preview, it seems that the sacrifice worked, as Stannis is at Winterfell, and Mellisande was stating it worked. (guessing this means Lord Bolton is dead, but there is still Ramsay to deal with).

Guessing that Dani ends up meeting up with other Dothraki, based on the HBO synopsis of surrounded by strangers.

Guessing that Jon Snow will get stabbed just as in the books, and that this is one of the big cliff-hangers (i.e. is he dead?)

I'm hoping the Cersai walk scene is going to involve her hallucinating and seeing others in the crowd (like her dad, Tyrion, etc.). Then with her uncle covering her up, and Sir Robert Strong (aka Frankenstein Gregor) as a knight protector. I know I'm probably alone in the Cersai support group, but I really want to see her make good on her promise that she'll be the last face the one chick sees before dying.

Guessing that Sansa kills the guy sent to Braavos from King's Landing. Not sure how the temple will respond to this. Perhaps the lesson is to listen to the signs the many-faced god sends, etc. Or maybe it will mean a setback for her training.

I read that HBO has plans for 10 more seasons and maybe a couple of movies.

I suspect it's GRR's plan too. Though I think that when they do, Littlefinger will be temporarily sitting in the Iron Throne.

Littlefinger orchestrated Stannis' actions to at least some degree (while orchestrating his war), so no doubt, his eventual death is part of his plan as well. (probably where Sansa comes in, I'd imagine).

One other thing likely to happen in the finale....Brienne saving Sansa from Ramsay. (and becoming her bodyguard)

To tide us over, Game of Thrones, the Musical....



Jon Snow's "Wyldling" (sung to the tune of "Wild Thing") is priceless (at 5:50) as well as Dani's "Rastafarian Targaryen" (at 9:14) and of course Tyrion's "Still Going Strong" (at 10:34 in).

I absolutely love how eerie the white walkers are. I also realized something. You know the white walker that Jon Snow sees at the end of the 8th episode of season 5, the one that raises the dead. He was shown earlier on, turning that baby into a white walker. I totally forgot about that scene. I'm guessing he's like the leader of the white walkers. Personally, I found that one that fought Snow more freaky looking. I wish he hadn't died. He looked awesome.

Man, just one episode left this season. As we're caught up to (in some cases past) the books, it will be just as unknown for those of us who've read the books too (and we've already been (pleasantly) surprised by the deviations from the books).
