I wish they'd have actually shot the scene from the book on this one.

It would have been MUCH cooler to watch her get fire spit on her by her dragons, not hurting her mind you and whipping Drogo into submission, then flying off on his back.

I'm going to hear Kerry Ingram screaming in my sleep, she did a great job with that scene.

I think we also got book spolied on that one as D&D said Martin 'told us about this'. Just curious to see who actually authorizes the burining as Stannis the Mannis is at Winterfell and Mel is back at the wall with Shireen.

It was still pretty good. My wife, who is Unsullied, said, 'This would be a good time for Drogon to show up.'

I deeked her and gave my main-character-is-about-to-die chuckle.

Oh I still enjoyed it quite a bit.

Personally I haven't read the books, my husband is the one who keeps filling me in on the differences. At this point it's a complete move away from the established cannon.

Which I'm fine with, you can't follow his story and expect to only run 10 episodes a season, it's just not enough time. They'd have to make it a standard 15 to 20 episode season and the quality of it would drop off dramatically if you ask me.

So I'm fine with them taking that artistic license with the show vs the books.

Awesome episode!

I wish there were more than just 10 episodes each spring.

I feel like it just started, and now its ending

Last two episodes were terrific!

I love its shot in Dubrovnik, my ancestral home town
I wish I could have gone over and tried to work on the production there.

I have a cousin who is a extra. He says its like an invading force has come to town when they film.

When you say a complete move away form cannon are you referring to the Drogon scene or the series in general?

The Drogon scene was rather close to the book but not exact (Tyrion and Jorah are not there and Hizdahr and Dany are already married and he is the one who betrays her).

As for the series, your point about there not being enough time is a legitimate one, the omitted some minor characters and combined others so you get the essence of the overall arcs. I think you will see that with the penultimate scene next week that the major integrity is intact and key plot points (Red Wedding, Purple Wedding, Ned loses his head, etc.) are carried over.

We were there the summer of 1991. (our first wedding anniversary - we did a pilgrimage to Medjugorje and had a side trip to Dubrovnik). We stayed there and walked around the city and the old wall. A month after we were there, the hotel was burned down in the war and some of the buildings we had been in were bombed. We had mass in St. Blaise church there, but it suffered damage a few weeks later, a bomb or something. At the time we were there I joked to my husband that we should 'steal the towels' because they had the hotel name on them and, if the war got kicked off, the towels would be a collectors item because it would all be gone. A month or so later it happened. I felt bad about the joke after that ...

No kidding.

With as much material as the people that read the books are saying they could have done 20 episodes easy.

It is a very expensive series to produce due to the multiple location shoots and the reliance more on practical effects than CGI. The production cycle runs almost yearly just with the 10 episodes.

We were there the same time, i spent my spring/summer of 91 in our old apartment of the Stradum.
I am so happy you have been there, tickled.

I didn't go to Medjugorje until 2004 (my mother nagged me into going for her to do a rosary mass on her behalf. Im Atheist, but do these things for her here and there as my legs work and hers don't so well)

I was taken aback by the miniVegas that had sprung up there. This tiny selo (village) visited by a million a year due to the marion apparition. There were shops, flashing lights, etc and I understand where there are people there is trade, but I was taken aback how insane it was.
Was it like that in 91?

SV Blaise ( call it St Vlaho) is a gorgeous church with amazing relics. . My cousin mentioned to me his last email that the very church forbade the Cersei scene coming up, her "walk" from coming close to the church. But I think they were permitted to film around it for other scenes.

Did you get to the lovely old Monastery garden court yard, they film a lot of GOT scenes in there.

Meh It's HBO they can afford it.

Game of Thrones is a huge winner for them.

I orefer less CGI. Much prefer it. All in the camera angle , lighting and set masters on the right location

Sometimes.

But when there is dragons, and massive cities, and people getting their heads cut off, and throats slit?

That's all CGI these days.

Like when that guy was standing over the defeated , and was looking at the queen, and picked spear then threw it to kill that guy.

Stannis doesn't deserve to be king or sit on the Iron Throne after what he did to his daughter.

Think Jon Snow, and the Targeryon woman would make the ultimate power couple.

Think they should get the throne.
