WHAT? Seriously? This isn't anywhere in the MSM. What is going on?
I would think that if this had happened, we'd be hearing more about it.
Unless Syria was trying to keep it quiet ....
(which I think would be impossible)

Yea, their conformation must mean it's true.

It would appear a lot of you wish this was true, judging from your posts. Apparently he is still drawing breath however.

I would've simply liked seeing his board scoop the folks over at CNN on something enormous like this. I mean, seriously, wouldn't that have been fun?

I have found another report saying a top rebel leader, Col Riad al-Assad has been killed ... so I'm wondering if the rumour about the Syrian president is just a mix-up, deliberate confusion, or a distraction from this rebel leader's death perhaps.

Beirut: An attempt on the life of top Syrian rebel military leader, Col Riad al-Assad, was made on Monday after a bomb was planted in his car. The condition of the rebel leader is yet to be known as Syrian activists fear that he may have been seriously wounded or killed in the attack, as per a news agency report.

I agree with MsVen; they may have confused the two, or maybe it was a deliberate false rumour spread by the rebels to lower the morale of Al-Assad's troops.

By the way, I predict there will be at least one ATS Live episode before the official announcement of his death.

Found this just now..BBC / Middle East/ World section:

www.bbc.co.uk...

Quote: '..A senior rebel military commander has been seriously wounded by a bomb blast in eastern Syria, activists say.

A device exploded next to a car carrying Col Riad al-Asaad, formerly head of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), in Mayadeen, Deir al-Zour province.

An FSA spokesman told the BBC he lost a leg and was now in a Turkish hospital.' End quote.

Syrian activists say senior rebel leader wounded

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — A top Syrian rebel military leader was wounded and perhaps killed by a bomb stuck to his car, activists said on Monday.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the blast targeted Col. Riad al-Asaad during a visit to the town of Mayadeen in eastern Syria.

Assad has operated with relative restraint in regards to his neighbors

Assad's restraint is tied directly to his ability to remain in power.... If he and his most loyal officials, and Syrian army leaders fear they are going to fall, then he, and more importantly they will have nothing to lose...

It would be in the vital interests of certain parties involved for Assad to remain in power for as long as possible, or at least to maintain the perception that he is (dead or alive) for as long as possible... Or at least until his ability to attack outside of Syria has been secured...

of course the wester MSM isn't even hinting at an assassination/ or just the attempt at it...

the MSM takes their marching orders fromthe WH and Pentagon or CIA mostly

and the propagandist MSM outlet is currently sanitizing Al Qaida while laying all acts of terror on the Ansar Al Shari'a...

perhaps in a few days or by Tuesday, the 'Story' will be released to the public and diplomatic reactions/policy actions wil result

my guess is that the new boogy-man Al Shari'a will be blamed if the social news platform (twitter) is turning negative because of the assassination attempt instead of a 'democratic' solution was used as the vehicle for change...

but if the mideast is all joyous... then the killing will be a 'favorable coup'
sprung by the now sanitized Al Qaida organization... who was quietly & silently working in cooperation with western leadership.

1984 on steroids huh
welll, i would not be surprised at more Muslim Brotherhood appointees by the WH and more open doors to radical Islamists to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave... as 'we' embrace progressive coalition of consensus opinions

RT.com is a Russian website.

What do we know about the Russian government? It supports Assad.

Therefore, nothing less than denial could have come from there.
The truth may take its time, but Assad as a person can't be kept invisible for more than a few days or weeks. He is the center of Syrias government, without him there is no legal government possible.

We will see.

RT is Russian , and Russians are bad and not trustworthy ?

OK ,

Who is trustworthy ?

The propaganda machine ?

Which is starting psycho war on Syrian people?

Or

The same propaganda machine which started psycho war on American people in 9/11 and about WMD's in Iraq ?

Or

You people don't like to give up the only MSM which you have used to trust ?

If Assad falls, the Muslim Brotherhood takes over in Syria. Exactly as they did in Libya & Egypt.

Precisely what this means, is that Israel's stability & likelihood to exist peacefully just dropped by an order of magnitude. Israel is a bastion of Western thought/ Judaism, a true fact despite the propaganda that percolates through alternative media (which depicts the whole state as a Zionist sham...)

Israel will ultimately sit totally land-locked in a sea of hatred for the principles upon which Israel, and the Western world, were established.

That's all good but you forgot one important fact. It's Israel and Israels allies who are supporting the terrorist and extremist groups in these countries.

If Israel is left standing alone in a sea of hatred then maybe that's a lesson to the people of Israel and people like you. Don't fund and arm terrorists in the hopes of stifling your enemies, because it doesn't work out well. The USA should have learned that already with the taliban.

Who says that Zionism didn't know that ?

They learned that lesson in Afghanistan by supporting Taliban.

But wolves are always following their agenda. They don't learn lessons. They neglect them.

For what its worth, I am hearing from my Washington insiders that they are about 80% sure this is true, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

I know its not worth anything to all of you, but it is to me and I felt I'd share.

No one will read it nor comprehend it they just want it to be fact not hearsay, few days and this will put in the hoax bin, now if it does become a fat that the rebel leader dies , they will still think it was the Pres that died.

My sources, the same that said that Hugo Chavez was dead a week before it as announced, say this is true, that Assad was shot, but not dead.

The MSM is not trumpeting it because the White House controls the MSM.

What does that tell you?
