The Roman Catholic Church has declared Freemasonry inimical to Christianity and you don't think it matters that someone who is possibly a practising Mason has been attending the head of the Church of England? Many Christians would not approve of this. This may be all a storm in a tea cup. But it DOES matter to those who believe Freemasonry is Satanic.
